Subject: Re. the Baghdad hotel attack - For those who believe that 1) Government politicians always tell the truth 2) Their spokesmen always tell the truth 3) Journalists and independent observers are unreliable 4) the armed forces will always admit their mistakes 5) Civilian deaths are excusable in the fight against terrorism - here is a salutary story. http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/static/in_depth/northern_ireland/2000/bloody_sunday/map/default.stm Only on that occasion, it was the Irish who got killed, not Arabs.

[> I don't believe any of them. But lately journalists have been shown to be the worst liars. Next month it will be someone else. in first place. Sometimes you have to hold your beliefs in abeyance until more evidence is in as well as use some common sense. Civilian deaths are inevitable in the fight against terrorism. A fact of life or death if you prefer. Civilian deaths are the focus of terrorism, or hadn't you noticed? Now excusing those deaths is just sick. -- SurveyGuy, 11:43:17 04/18/03 Fri (pcp01422563pcs.lndsd201.pa.comcast.net/68.81.153.209)

[> [> "journalists have been shown to be the worst liars". Well maybe this profession is about to be surpassed by Heads of State. Bush and Blair were very vociferous about the existence of Iraq's WMD's, and now the country is occupied, we'll soon see if their statements were the truth, or the biggest lie this century. If the latter, it'll certainly make Clinton's "grass and sex" lies seem puny in comparison. -- Chris Henry, 09:09:22 04/19/03 Sat (NoHost/82.47.215.137)
