Subject: Chris, the US did help bring an end to WW II and defeat the Nazi and Musollini. Try as you will you can not deny that. Hitler did make the same mistake as Napolean did when he tried to march on Moscow during the winter so he did make a tactical error. Nevertheless do you remember what took place at Normandy and "D" day? Thousands of US soldiers and other allied soldiers died invading that day which eventually led to the liberation of France and the defeat of Germany. The US does deserve praise for saving France, Russia, and others. Without the US, Hitler would most likely have won.
In reply to: Chris Henry 's message, "Yes they would, but clearly it would have taken longer. The unanswered (unanswerable?) question, though, is whether the wars would have ended earlier than 1918 and 1945 if the US had come in at the start. It's something the Brits would have liked very much; Churchill spent a lot of time trying to win over Roosevelt." on 14:12:45 04/20/03 Sun
