Subject: Re: A Tomb For Akhenaten ?
In reply to: Ian 's message, "Re: A Tomb For Akhenaten ?" on 10:19:16 04/15/08 Tue

Its quite possible he referred to Amunhotep III as his father and did not mention (as far as I'm aware) any relationship to Akhenaten due to the general dislike of Akhenaten and his religion. Everything about Tut's tomb screams that it wasn't the one intended for him, which is why I find it odd that KV63's proximity to Tut's kept being mentioned as a possible indication that KV63 was Armana period. Which, oddly enough, it turned out to be!

But speaking of the west valley ... since it was surmised that WV25 (IIRC) was Akhenaten's original tomb before the move to Armana your suggestion of the west valley for Tut has more to it than just Amunhotep III being referred to as Tut's father.

Isn't Aye's tomb in the west valley? AFAIK the suggestion is that Tut was placed in Aye's tomb, which as a high ranking and long serving noble he was granted, and Aye took the tomb that Tut had begun in the west valley when Aye took the throne.
