This thread has been quiet for sometime now. I lived on E55th between h-i, walked out my front door onto the basketball courts. Lived there from brith until about 1984. Remember most of the names in this thread, was a bit younger. Actually friends with Mike Olsen's younger brother.
Was an interesting place to grow up and being younger a lot of the names listed watched out for me in times of trouble.
Not to many people in their adult life can tell people they discovered two dead bodies growing up.. One in the park by the chess boards and the other was a car parked in from of my home, someone was shot. We thought they were sleeping, LOL.
anyway.. would not have changed a thing...

I don't recognize most of the names posted here, I guess I'm from earlier times.

Thank you for writing back. Just happened to check your reply, which I think I wrote a year ago. Johnny Depalo was my first boyfriend, which is so sad that he succumbed to drugs. I remember kissing Donnie in the park when I around 15-year-old. I was good friends with Lori Greene, Laurie Chaprack, Amy Markowitz, if that rings a bell for him. I have lived in San Francisco for the past 20 years and I assume you still live in NY. Well, take care.

- Still stumbling around -- Rich Diamond, 14:07:10 08/21/02 Wed (webproxy03qfe0.SBI.COM/199.67.140.20)
I was just stumbling around the web and came across this site. I was blown away when i saw all the familiar names. The scariest part of it is the range of time that they span. I remember names from the CHAINS (very late sixties) all the way to the later "Mike Olsen" years (Late seventies) I'll bet Mike never thought that he would mark an era.
I remember when the CHAINS (Donny and Frankie boy Carolei, John Barney, Wally, Ray, Johnny Dropout DiPaolo, Trackwalker, Joey Paolini, Shari Richmond, Lori Greene, Hannah, Fran Serpa, Kerry & Terry (Peaches), etc. hung out in the fifth building sitting area. The crazy lady next door would turn a hose them to get rid of them. I was only a kid then and i thought they were so cool. I used to hang with Neil Serpa, Peter Greene back then, along with Dave Rubin, Barry Bowers, Brian Reiff and the rest of our sorted crew.
In the very early seventies our crew sort of inherited the chess tables from the previous crew (many of the names in other posted messages: Richie Klein, Bobby Snyder, Joey Musco, etc.).
Our crew, Dave Rubin, Barry Bowers, Andy(Spanky)Leeds, Cooker, Steve Seidner, Joe Monahan, Steve Babitz, Ron(Barney)Stone, Dicky Snyder, Eileen & Brian(Bean)Ahearn, Chert, Stanley W., Ray (XRay), Al Dolente Steve Savarese, Ralph Marino, Garth Cooperman, Stanley Seigel, Eddie Giordano, Joe Roperto, Dom Lipariti, Terry & Jill, Debbie Bonino, Sherry W. Robin Krause, Kathy, Connell, Marisa Paolini, Topo and a load of others played lots of ball partied like crazy.
Through all of the years, Trackwalker was always there. He was immortal. I couldn't kill himself if he tried. Lord knows he did.
Okay... 10 points for anyone who knows trackwalkers real name. Dave, you Donny and Frankie boy can't answer this one.
Hint: Initials are C.F.
Its good to see all the old names if not the faces. Its even better to know that some brain cells were spared.
Regards all,
Rich Diamond

Tom Columbo (My son, named after one of your Alumni's)stumbled across this Web Site & it's been really great to see some of the old names. Though I mainly hung out at the Glennwood Projects it really brought back some forgotten memories. My brother Tom hung out at 251 & I met alot of pretty good people from there. I also wanted to add Tony Trackwalker's (who I always thought was a good guy)name is: Carmine Fasano. Well I just wanted to say "Hi" & I think this Web Site is a great idea.

As a regular at one of Brooklyn most dysfunctional Parks, yes PS 251 was rated by The NY Daily News some years ago as the worst park in the Boro, I can see why their are not to many posting's. Anyone lucky enough to make it out alive deserves credit, the rest, that where not so fortunate are dead, by means of drugs, violence and Rock N Roll. Let’s not forget Drug Rehabs. I started my career at 251 playing ball, and ended up at the Chess tables stoned 24x7, watching Tony Trackwalker ( not to be confused with Luke Skywalker) nodding out. Yes I remember so many of the Famous members: Johnny Dropout, Skully, Frankie Gouch, Mike Abrams(A nice Jewish Boy) Ralph Marineeeeee, Barry Ratz, Garth, Stanley, Butch Bowers, The Carolie's , The Aherns, Steve Ribsalone AKA Rebbers, Nat Killer Diamond, Dom Liporini, Ralph Matchorone, Ron Stone, The Aherns, Kim Rubin, Chris Simone, Cooker, Spanky, Bart Silverman, John Barney, Elvis, Jeff(OD'd By the Chess tables),Steve Babitts, Mandoto, Steve aka The Rican and on and on, what an education we got. Some special moments: Garth blowing up the Park house with a Marine Flare, blowing up Horseshoe Crabs on the 4th, another Garth goodie, huffing glue in the back with the old-time dope fiends, tripping in the park at 5AM by the chess tables, watch Tony slit someone neck oh and let me not forget Paul Kopa’s MeltDown. Those where the worst of times and the best of times??? As for myself I’m alive and CLEAN and still have enough of my wits left to look back and laugh at all the destruction.

Just turned on to this site by fellow 251 park buddy and fellow Flatbush Terrace (building 5) resident Dave Rubin.
I lived in building 4 between 1967 and 1975. Went to 251, Roy H. Mann and South Shore.
Park buddies were Dave (above)Rich Diamond, Barry Bowers, Joe Monahan, Ron Stone (BARNEY, who recently passed away),
Jay Lachoff etc...Memory is the first to go.
And yes, who doesn't remember Trackwalker?
There's another site I found a while back which helped me to contact numerous old friends. Try CLASSMATES.Com

Blackout and other great times....
Tuesday, 08-Aug-00 00:23:10 I remember crossing Utica Ave. with Gina and Marie Ioime. We had just bought ices at Ices Queen, and when we hit the yellow line, the lights went out. What a freaky experience.
We ended up going to 251 park, to look for other friends and figure out what the hell was going on. I was going out with Stanley at the time, and it was an amazing night.
I remember coming into the park AFTER the fight that took Michael's eye. I remember hearing about a bottle that flew threw the air, etc.....
So many kids have hung out in the park. Every couple of years, it was a new crew of kids.
I used to play paddleball. Remember the great handball games there? With Stanley, Raymond, Alfred, Lenny from the Male Shop!!! Joel, Marcel.
Where are all you guys??? Nicky, Paul, Kim, Chris, Michael Bruno, Olsen, of course. The Caroli's, Doug, Stan, Ray? Shelly, Adrian, Laura, Liz, Eddie, Alfred, Charles, Gina, Marie,
Everybody that used to hang out on Utica, the bagel store, Utica and J, Schnectedy Ave??????
Don't tell my NONE of you have computers??????
Drop a line, say hello.
I remember Tony Trackwalker from when I was a little girl. He used to hang out in my building's sitting area with the "older crowd" the "CHAINS"!!! He was very goodlooking at the time, what a shame to see him waste away over the years in the park. Let's see that older crowd was, Laurie Green (Jodi's sister), Sari,
Fran, Johnny and Jimmy Barney......Wow, I remember too much!!!!!!!
Take care all!!!
Bonnie,
Ok, here's the thing... I remember almost ALL of the people you mentioned! Though, I was just a bit younger than that group. I knew "X-Ray", Nicky, Stanley, Alfred, the Iommis, etc... Because I was friends with all of their younger brothers and sisters! Last names will all be available via e-mail. Would you by any chance be Bonnie Barrison? I'm just curious. Please do feel free to e-mail me! We do know the same people, and I do know where some of these people are today!!! Hope to hear from you soon!

No, my maiden name is Cheifetz. I went out with Stanley, and hung out with all of them on Utica and the park, and Schenectedy Ave.
Were you in the "younger" group that included Maria and Olsen?
Andrew and Paul?
I knew Bonnie, but was not friends with her. I know her brother Scott, because he was close with Mark . Remember him?

My name is Bonnie and I lived in Flatbush Terrace, and hung out on Utica, and the park, playing paddleball, watching the handball games, just hanging out. Who are you? I hung out from 1975-79/80. Bonnie

Re: Blackout and other great times....
Friday, 05-Jan-01 19:30:33 Hi Bonnie,
I don't know if you know me, but you mentioned Tony Trackwalker and i just had to write. I used to go out with him when I was about 13-14 yrs old. We used to hang out in the stairwell in the Flatbush Terrace buildings at the roof. I also used to go to his house. Let's just say he was one of my first...yeah he wa real good looking then and ptrobably 8 years older than me. He wore English Leather Timberline cologne, something I will never forget. Strange how after all these years I can remember that. I too hung out at 251 park, doing ludes and poppers and playing paddle or handball. There were two brothers, twins, I can't remember their names but they were not identical, they lived in Flatbush Terrace. Had real chisled features. I dated one of them. Boy was I a slut then...Anyway they were also older than me by a good 6-10 years. I'd say it was in the early 70's. I had long brown hair and sometimes came with my friend Sheri.

Tuesday, 09-Jan-01 23:36:55 Hi Gina,
Those were the early 70's. 68-71, I think. I was a little kid. A million years ago.
It is funny how we can look back at the things we did as kids and be amazed that we did them at all!!

- Early to late 70's - comments on what has been posted so far -- Eileen Ahearn, 12:46:27 06/10/02 Mon (NoHost/65.90.193.202)
When I see the dates on some of the items above I wonder if anyone will read this, but, here goes. I am one of the Ahearns (there are 10). I am a best friend still to Renee Eidelheit and it flipped me out to see her name posted here. I have been on other websites (Glenwoodprojects.com) and from there found a few people. I wonder if the Garth mentioned is Garth Cooperman. Hope so, and would love to hear from him. I know that Renee is still in contact with once in a while with Duke, Bobby Sneider and possibly others. I would love to say hello to Eddie Giordano (E 54 bet H & Glenwood Rd). Write back if this jogs any memories or if you want me to pass a message on to Renee. She and I often run over the days of 251.
