More than likely the vehicles used in the Waltons are furnished through an antique car club (or clubs)in southern California. The film industry keeps track of collectors who have period pieces, and the old time car collectors are pretty well known. What is interesting to me is that the rust topped Studebaker is used so often. It appeared today (05.07.08)episode entiled the "Tailspin." A '41 Cadillac convertible (an extremely valuable car) was also seen today -- in "The Torch" -- this is the car driven by Callie Mae - expensive then, more expensive now. My suspension is that all of these cars, including those driven by the Waltons, are in existance today in the garages of private collectors.
