I'm a quilter and absolutely love it. Love handling fabric. Quilting is anything but a dying art. Magazine racks in the stores can attest to that as well as the fantastic quilt shops all over the country. Quilting is addicting and when traveling, quilters will always scout out the quilt shops along the route. There are no cookie cutter quilt shops, each one is unique. I've never belonged to a guild but they are numerous. Even if you will never quilt, if there is a quilt shop in your vicinity, be sure to check it out. They usually have gorgeous handiwork and gifts. Some are more like an art gallery. Technology has spurred the explosion of interest in quilting. There are things quilters can do today with fabric that was unimaginable to my grandma.

Someone asked what tatting was. Tatting is lace making.
