Quilts do provide a tangible connection to the past. I marvel at the time spent in producing one--from a time when the piecing was done by hand as well as the quilting. My great aunt might have been horrified that we used her "Crazy Quilt" as a blanket when I was a kid. But I won't forget running my fingers over her beautiful stitches, where each patch was a different material outlined with a different decorative stitch. Perhaps she would not have been horrified at all since her work was a labor of love and meant to be enjoyed, not stuck away somewhere. Best wishes go out to you today. SteveW
