Gunsmoke lasted on TV from 1955-75. To the historically challenged, that would be the Administrations of Ike, JFK, LBJ, Nixon and Ford (who started in Aug, 1974). Had they hung in the for awhile longer, it would've included the worst Pres Admin in modern US history, Jimmy Carter. No wonder they decided to pull the series. LoL

Note: the radio version of Gunsmoke started in 1952, which would've included the Pres'cy of Truman.

Great question man! Take care, God Bless,

Phil from AZ
