Subject: An obscure question, but...

I'll be very impressed if a Walton devotee can help with this.
I have a recurring memory from an episode, in which an old farmer, possibly fishing, tells of his freedom. How he gets up in the morning knowing he can work or fish or do whatever he likes on any given day. It's a very brief speech by a one-time character.
Can anyone quote his exact words? It's a memory that just won't go away. Thanks.
