We went barefoot in the summer, played down by the creek, and caught tadpoles and lightning bugs in jars. There was abn old tire swing that hung over the creek. We took June Bugs and tied strings to their legs and watched themm fly, we ate cold watermelon on the front porch and sat in the swing at night with our windows open because it was too hot to sleep and no air conditioning was to be found. These are but a few I recall.

About milking a cow. When I was 8 years old a local newspaper photographer wanted to take a picture of me milking a cow. The sat me next to the cow, showed me how to hold my hands on the cow's udder, complete with an old milk pail underneath when suddenly before he could snap the photo, that ole cow let out a loud "MOOoo" and I took off running. Silly child. I was afraid of every kind of animal created! That's the truth.
