Subject: Walton's a "ray of hope"

Hey, everyone! I'm new here and just wanted to say "hello". It feels like I'm lurking, just browsing everyone's posts and all... thought I'd better introduce myself so I don't feel so much like a stranger.

I'm thirty-three years old, and I used to watch the Waltons with my mom and dad when I was younger. In fact, up until I left home we had a tradition of watching "the Homecoming" every Christmas Eve together before bed.

Recently, I've gone through some rough times. My wife got sick, then my car died, etc... etc... But I found a bit of hope one day when I turned on the Hallmark channel and found the Waltons. I hadn't seen an episode in over a decade and had forgotten how comforting it can feel to just sink into the cushions with a hot cup of tea and let yourself wander onto "Walton's Mountain". In this world of fast paced living, single parent homes, and so on, it is refreshing to imagine yourself about seventy years ago- working hard in the mill, or writing a poem as the whipper-will calls... listening to the sounds of your family downstairs as they laugh and tease each other playfully. It's not just "like" another world- it IS another world.

Anyway, it's nice to have found this site and forum. I hope to visit again soon, and I hope the Hallmark channel plays the Waltons every morning for a very long time.
