Date Posted: 05:40:12 12/14/03 Sun In reply to: Admin 's message, "Re: Dankus" on 19:10:38 12/13/03 Sat After having read both of the articles, and much of what has been posted on the dankus forums, I would say that had I been in your situation, I would not be behaving as childishly as you are today. None of those people appear to be intimidated by your threats. Real journalists report the news. They do not try to make themselves a part of it. They respect those they "interview." What you did was violate the trust of a group of people who HAD a safe place to talk about their feelings without fear of reproachment from the outside. What you did is no different than if you had taken a tape recorder into an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting and "exposed" what is really going on. Great lead by the way, I'm sure everyone was dying to know what a bunch of teenagers talk about in their forum. Your articles are lacking something, they are far from newsworthy. The only reason the people on the forums are even concerned about the article is because you behaved unethically, and a few of them are afraid of what their parents might do or say. Personally, if I had posted things about my family and cheesey things about my girlfriend and other similar topics that probably don't need to be made public, I wouldn't go spreading everyone else's buisness. There isn't a whole lot preventing others on the forum from doing exactly what you did. Apologizing to the people on the forum and then turning around and doing exactly what you said you would not do shows a serious lack of character on your part. Your mother should have taught you better. Having never met you, I find it sad that I can never have any respect for you. But I don't respect liars. I dont respect hypocrites. I would do some serious soul searching if I were you, to see how it would feel if you were on the other side of this eqation. Maybe instead of seeing yourself as a powerful journalist for the almighty Ellis County Press, you'd see yourself as someone who betrayed his internet companions. But if youre willing to sacrifice your character for such hard-hitting stories, maybe the Dallas Morning News will be willing to pick you up. Or maybe they want journalists with some sort of code of ethics. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
