Subject: There are some terrific discussions already down below, but I don't think my question has been addressed yet. I remember reading that LJ was sent to Ardsmuir because there was some sort of scandal he was involved in. Do we know what that scandal was? I thought it would be explained in this book, but I can't figure out what it is. Also, let me say that this is almost my favorite book of the entire series. I have loved LJ since his very first appearance defending Claire's honor. Getting to see him "in action" as both a military man and a lover has deepened my respect for him. Several of my close family members are homosexual and I feel I understand their motivations much better after reading this. I also read a fair amount of erotica - Diana knows how to put across love and lust very well!
