I agree with Ron. Eric Burdon has always been that way inclined and his desire to change familiar songs and hits onstage was the source of much friction in the original Animals back in their heyday. The fact he was ripped off blind and isn't as big a name as many of his peers I think gives him extra leverage to do things his way for if he was a bigger name he'd no doubt feel more of an obligation to stay truer to the original records. So, Burdon's gonna do what he wants regardless of what others think and feel - it's the nature of the man!
