Remember I couldn't get chemo last week? And if the bleeding from my lungs didn't stop I couldn't get it this week either? Well the bleeding stopped and I got chemo.

I asked him if he's going to keep me on the same 6-week regiment or if he was going to try to combine them so I could come in every 2 or 3 weeks instead. He has decided to keep me on the same regiment at least until we find out if the drugs are working or not. He didn't say when I would get another CT scan. I'm thinking sometime after the next round.

Never hurts to end the week on a high note, does it? Good deal! I know you run into a lot of stumbling blocks on your path through all this, but hopefully you've kicked another one aside!

Hey Stacy
I think you got a great Valentines gift by being able to have the chemo. It sounds weird to say one is glad to get chemo, but gee don't have to worry about coloring ones hair. That is what I told the nurses on Wednesday. They didn't think it was to funny.
What side effects do you get with this chemo?
Sure thinking of you, Stacy.
But please, you don't have to keep sending me the weight you lose. lol

Everyone says "it's just hair, it'll grow back again. That's the least of your problems". And everyone says something about saving money on shampoo, conditioner, coloring and all the other hair supplies. I don't really save money because I have so much shampoo already. Plus I continue to use shampoo on my scalp. It keeps the scalp softer for when the hair starts growing in. I think to myself "oh yea?? YOU lose YOUR hair 4 times and see if it starts to get on YOUR nerves. I appreciate the sentiment but GOOD GRIEF, 4 TIMES!! One thing is for sure, I certainly have a lot of experience with it! Not griping to you but after 4 times, it's a pain. Once it's gone I tolerate it better, it's just the knowing it's going to come out again that bothers me.

I'm always happy to get me chemo. It's the only thing that's going to work and it's the only way for me to feel like I'm doing something.

Side effects I'm having? I still get fatigued. I don't have much of an appetite. And I coughed up a lot of blood and had to go to the ER. That was because bleeding can be a risk so you have to really watch for it. Being on coumadin made it hard for healing so the doctor took me off the blood thinner. The bleeding stopped within a day.

It was great hearing from you. How are you doing these days?

Awww you are so special. I didn't mean to sound glib about losing the hair, but I am/was tired of plucking away at the hair on my face. haaaa haaa
Actually, I am celebrating a year since my surgery. Had a lumpectomy, but then because of all the tissue taken, they reclassified it as a masectomy for billing. haaa haa Was because of the muscle also taken and lymph nodes taken. But was told that the swelling and pain should go away in a year from now. I thought one year of the swelling and pain, but surgeon now says two. Go figure. But just whinning...nothing compared to what you have been thru.

Have you seen the following: A friend sent it to me.
The Five Finger Prayer

1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.
