I don't know if I totally agree with that Joseph Campell quote. In fact the opposites may also be said to be true. "Life is pleasureable; life is joyful; and life is happy--AND, by God, you are alive." But you see, if the opposite may also be true--that is, if you believe it to be--we have a paradox. One option is simply to acknowledge that it exits and let both lie as possibility, perhaps endpoints along a spectrum of possiblity. Or we can decide that they cancel each other out and neither exists. From here we may choose to create life as we see fit. We may even choose to see it as perfect. All dualities melt away: good/bad, heaven/hell, yin/yang, what have you. It is all (drum roll please) one taste; one free floating abstract in which we are all inextricably apart of. In the end, the only thing left is sensation and your willingness to feel. It is our judgements that determine how we receive it all.
