Life is both what Campbell said (pain and horror) AND the opposite of what he said - - but not necessarily at the same time, and not always both to the same person. And it's possible for two people living in the same external/material circumstances to perceive it in opposite ways - one seeing life as a horror, one seeing it as beautiful. Is the glass one-fourth full or three-fourths empty? As you amble down the road of life, do you focus on the beautiful scenery, or do you focus on the potholes in the road? (How's that for a string of obvious cliches?) SO - you and your beautiful mind get to create your own private reality (possibly in Idaho) - you can choose horror, or you can choose beauty. Or you can take one from column A and one from column B.
