She stared the boy down, awar of a soft movement off to her side, but chose to keep her eyes straight ahead. She was not afraid. It was probably foolish not to fear a much larger group of kids, and most likely there was some part deep inside her that was quivering slightly, but it was VERY deep. The smile was lost from her face quickly, her anticepation racing ahead, into the oblivion of the future. She would not back down. She was way too hungry.
