Jonathon stood as the bell rang and began to teach the class, he had been talking about Mideval Literature for about a week. Most of the kids found the wording strange and hard to understand, but he managed to help them understand without directly telling them. And some of them seemed to comprehend it very well, Sara being one of them. The girls always seemed to like this section since most of the story were classic romantic stories with heros and love triangles and such. The boys thought it rather boring except for when they got to watch movies since no romantic story was complete without a battle and they of course had them in the movies. Jonathon had started them on a research paper last week about aspects of the Mideval culture, jousting, the roles of women, religion, knights, chivalry, the Feudal System, things of that sort. They were due at the end of the class and he had to admit he was looking forward to reading Sara's. He walked about the class as they all went over last minute details, pausing by Sara's desk for a moment but not saying anything, he was confident that she knew what she was doing, giving her a smile before walking on.
But Jonathon, despite what Sara thought, was not content with his life. He wasn't unhappy, but he wasn't happy either. Things just weren't the way he wanted them to be. And he thought after twetny-two years of hardship is about time he got a bit of what he wanted. Jonathon was from an opposite back ground of these kids. His parents had been poor, his father a drunk who hadn't been able to hold a job for more than a few months, and his mother worked as a waitress on minimum wage. The money his parents made barely managed to pay the bills and buy groceries. Jonathon had been picked on a lot in school because of how he'd had to dress and his background. And his father had been abusive to his mother. He'd never touched Jonathon, but it was bad enough having to watch his mother take the abuse. But when he'd turned sixteen he'd had enough. One night his father had gone for his mother, but Jonathon intervened. They'd fought for what felt like hours though it'd only been about ten minutes, and he'd kicked his father out. After that he'd had to get a job to help his mother but things were still difficult, and made more difficult by his father, who refused to leave them alone. He threatened them constantly and stalked his mother and more than once Jonathon would look out his window to see his car sitting across the street. He'd stayed at home through college, which he had barely been able to afford, to keep protecting her. Thankfully when he graduated his mother moved in with his aunt, but he still worried about her. And Jonathon did his best to keep his background to himself. None of them would understand, and would only judge him. So much like Sara he was pretending to be something he wasn't. He came off as a well-educated, sophisticated young man, but he knew he was just trailer trash, or well.. he had been. He didn't really know who he was anymore, or where things were heading.
