Welcome to the Midwest pageant information board. We welcome newbies and the seasoned competitor! This board is here to help out our soon to be new friends to our pageant world! NO bashing of children will be permitted. RULES: name or initials, of child are permitted to name who won and where, or to give POSITIVE FEEDBACK for the family or friend. The search is on for Miss Indiana Motor Speedway 2011� and Miss Teen Indiana Motor Speedway 2011�. Do you love races? Have you ever wanted to be a part of a NASCAR race experience? Do you need scholarships, or assistance paying pageant entry fees? Well this is the pageant for you! The Miss and Teen Division will receive a $1,000 cash prize and additional prizes. Winners will make appearances at select Indiana NASCAR races and events. She will promote motor sports, The Bene(FIT)s of Sports Participation, and volunteerism throughout the state of Indiana. Miss Indiana Motor Speedway 2011 & Miss Teen Indiana Motor Speedway 2011 will compete in the National 2011 Miss Motor Speedway Pageant in Nashville, TN. 2011 National winners will have an all expense paid trip to New York City for a photo shoot with Fadil Berisha (www.fadilberisha.com). She will also have the opportunity to be the official spokes person of the Miss Motor Speedway Organization, while traveling the states making appearances at select NASCAR races and events.

The cash prize may be used to pay entry fees to any pageant system or your educational endeavors. There is NO APPLICATION FEE or CONTESTANT ENTRY FEE. The National "Miss Motor Speedway Pageant�" will be held at Vanderbilt University Student Life Center in Nashville, TN on Saturday, March 13, 2010. Contestants are encouraged and welcome to represent their state. The Miss Motor Speedway Pageant� is a volunteer and member of the NASCAR Foundation.

My friends little girl won overall supreme at a pageant. She won all of her supreme fees paid to the naitonals worth $495. The national was cancelled and never held. Doesn't the direcotor owe the little girl something?

First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who has prayed for and thought about my daughter Isabella. As many of you know, she was born 4/21 with a severe congenital birth defect called an esophageal atresia. To make a long story short, she spent 3 months in the NICU at Children�s Hospital of Wisconsin, has gone through 8 surgeries (3 major and 5 day-surgeries) already with the 9th one coming up in less than 2 weeks, and she will continue to have lifelong issues because of this. However, she is a fighter and she is doing very well all things considered. She is now 10 lbs (she was 4 at birth due to prematurity) and starting to hit some major milestones (sitting, rolling over, etc). We still have a very long road ahead of us, but rest assured that Isabella is going to do very well thanks to all of the wonderful doctors, nurses, and other staff at Children�s. The support of our wonderful family, friends, and even strangers is helpful as well. I have received many emails and read posts on boards in support of Isabella. I apologize for not responding to many of them, but please understand that having a child with special needs is very trying and time consuming. Additionally, I was trying to keep my name and that of my daughters off the boards so as not to cause this controversy which I now believe must be addressed.

I have sat back and waited as long as I could, but now I�ve hit my boiling point. It is with a heavy heart that I write this because I honestly want to believe that everyone is a good person. However, I feel that this must be said. I will no longer be entering any of my children in pageants, Adrianna, Kennedy (who never had an interest in them anyway), or Isabella. It saddens me because I truly enjoyed the time I spent with Adrianna when I took her to pageants and regret that I will not give that opportunity to Isabella when she is older. My reasoning behind this is simple. I have met many people in the pageant world that I felt comfortable calling my �friends.� However, it seems that even my �friends� are willing to lie, cheat, and steal from me if it means entering their daughter in another pageant. I know that not everyone is like this and to be honest, most aren�t. But I will not even take a chance at exposing my daughters to people like this again.

Soon after the birth of Isabella, Marcie Phillips, director of Crowning Beauty IL/IA, took it upon herself to conduct two events at which she asked for donations to help with the costs associated with Isabella�s birth, hospital care, and our family�s expenses during this care. I am forever grateful to Marcie for this unselfish act. The first event was a 50/50 raffle. The raffle raised approximately $75 for Isabella after the winner of the raffle donated his winnings back to us (Thank you to everyone who donated!). This raffle was held at a pageant which Kellie Adams (mom to RH) entered her daughter in. Kellie had told Marcie before the pageant that she couldn�t afford to enter RH in the pageant. Marcie, being the kind person that she was, told Kellie that she could pay her for the pageant after it was over, so as to give her more time to get the money together. The approximate cost of the pageant was $75. After the pageant was over, Kellie volunteered to bring the raffle money to me, telling Marcie that she had planned to come see Isabella in the hospital sometime soon. Instead of giving Kellie the $75 cash, Marcie told Kellie to pay me the $75 that Kellie owed Marcie for the pageant. Kellie agreed to this and Marcie assumed that it was done. I assure you that I have never received even a single penny from this raffle. After receiving and email from Marcie telling me that Kellie had the money from the raffle, I asked Kellie if Marcie had given her the money. Kellie initially denied that Marcie had ever given her any money. I then spoke with Marcie on the phone and got the �whole story.� I then confronted Kellie with Marcie�s story at which time Kellie admitted that she did owe me approximately $75 and that she would have to �make 3 payments of $25 each� because she didn�t have $75 all at one time. I agreed to this, and gave Kellie my mailing address, sat back and waited for a check to arrive. It never did. I spoke with Kellie on more that one occasion, each time reminding her to send me a �payment�. I have still seen no money.

Why such a big deal over $75? Honestly, under normal circumstances, I wouldn�t even have brought it up. Due to excellent insurance coverage, our family is handling our hospital bills and other expenses associated with Isabella without having to pinch pennies. However, there are many charities that helped our family out tremendously during the time Isabella was hospitalized. One of the most helpful was the Ronald McDonald House, which provided us with a small apartment, kitchen, and many other �comforts of home� so that we could stay right across the street from Children�s Hospital. When I heard about the fund-raising that Marcie was doing, I decided that any monies raised would be donated to Ronald McDonald House. I really would have loved to donate that $75 to Ronald McDonald House.

Additionally, since the time that Kellie has told me she was going to make payments for the amount due to me, she has entered her daughter in at least 1 pageant and several photo contests. Pageants aren�t free as we all know. Not only are their entry fees, but hotel, food, and gas all add up to an expensive weekend. Now I know that Kellie is entitled to enter her daughter in whatever she wants, but I do believe that she should have paid me the money she owed BEFORE paying to enter another pageant. Correct me if I�m wrong, but when Marcie ran that 50/50 raffle, I�m pretty sure she didn�t ask people to donate their money to pay for RH�s pageant fees � which is where it has ultimately ended up going. The straw that broke the camel�s back was this afternoon when I saw that RH was entered into not just one, but 3 Hawaiian Tropic Photo contests, at a minimum cost of $10 EACH. (That would have covered more than the first �payment� promised to me) And here�s the real great part: Kellie�s daughter, RH, won the Hawaiian Tropic Program Book cover model contest with a picture that I personally took of her with MY camera and Kellie does NOT own the copyrights to it. So now we have someone who owes me money using a picture that I took to promote a pageant system that I do not like. (I have my own reasons for this which have nothing to do with this incident so I�m not going to even bother getting into that). I would like to request that Vonda Barden, director of Hawaiian Tropic, NOT use the photo that I took of RH as Kellie has no rights to it. Please use a different photo of her because I do not want MY photograph on your program book cover.

To all of our pageant friends: Adrianna and I are truly going to miss you. We have enjoyed all of the pageants, regardless of their outcomes. Adrianna continues to ask about many of her �pageant friends.� It saddens me when I have to tell her that she most likely will not see many of them again. Thank you for giving us 2 years of good times and great fun. Thank you for your support of AJ during her pageants and for Isabella during her hospitalization. God Bless you all.

To Kellie: I wish it hadn�t come to this. I gave you every opportunity to send me the money so that I could give it to the charity of my choice. You claimed that you didn�t have it, yet you continue to spend money to enter RH in pageants. I am hurt and offended that you lied to people about me, and even lied to me. You told people that you had visited Isabella and me on several occasions, when, in fact, in Isabella�s 5 � months of life, you have NEVER seen her in person. You said on more that one occasion that you would be sending me the money. I even confirmed that you had my address. And yet no money has arrived. Please do me a favor and lose my phone number, address, email, etc. I considered you a friend � a good friend at times � but you are not my friend. You apparently will do anything to enter your daughter in another pageant. Even if it means stealing from a charity or lying to a friend. If your conscience ever gets the best of you, send a check for $75 to Ronald McDonald House or Children�s Medical Fund or another charity. God Bless You also as you need it the most.

I have lowered the minimum to 10 kids...at this attendance the awards give out lowers to only 23%. That was why the minmum of 25 was originally set...I want to have better cash payouts. All cash is prorated at a minimum of 45 contestants for full awards...I had set my minimum for contestant benefit. I am accepting paypal at MsAllstarBeauty@paypal.com if you want to participate at the State please get your $100 deposit in by midnight on Sunday August 8th. I have to let the hotel know on Monday morning if we are cancelling or holding. I am new but honest, so all that have sent i their deposit will get them back. I DO NOT keep anyones deposit. Subject: Why is it around here that anytime a child starts doing very well in competing, the bashing starts on them or their family? Why not work harder with your own child to improve areas rather than run off any competitor? This has been going on as long as I can remember. I am considering hosting one of these pageants in the IL area. It is an all-natural system. To bring the pageant to IL, the director would need at least 15 entries/deposits. It costs about $100.00 to enter every event in this pageant. I was thinking about suggesting the Bloomington area if there is enough interest. Contestant's name and age must appear on the back of photo. A winner in each age division will receive a nice gift.

Perfect Me Photo Princess/Prince(OPTIONAL)
This competition is separate from photogenic. There will be one Perfect Me Photo Princess winner and this person cannot win Overall Photogenic. You can enter a separate photo from photogenic for this competition. One winner will receive a custom tote bag or crown & gift. Photo can be b/w or color and can consist of a headshot or portfolio photo. NO PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS ALLOWED! Judges will be looking for beauty, first impression, creativity, & photogenic ability.

Optionals
There will be one winner in each division in the following categories: Best Attire, Most Beautiful, & Best Personality. Winners will receive a beautiful crown pin or gift.

Patriotic Wear(OPTIONAL) A winner in each age division will receive a beautiful crown. Overall Patriotic Wear will be offered at the door and winner will receive a beautiful crown and gift.

Overalls

Extra Door Overalls & Supreme Titles(optional) Additional door overalls and supreme titles may be offered at the door for an additional cost. These are not required for Grand or Mini.

Supreme Winners 0-3, 4-9 & 10-up(INCLUDED IN SUPREME PACKAGE)

Three supreme titles will be awarded if 20 or more contestants enter. If less then 20 supreme titles will be from 0-4 & 5-up. Subject: For those of you and us, who would love to get more into the modeling aspects, do you worry about the negative aspects of the industry? So sad isn't it? So few child stars actually seem to make it big without hitting a horrible road at one time or another. Except for the select few of course. What is everyone else's view on this?

I hope this isn't being done, but it sure never hurts to send out a reminder!! use positive words with your child NOT constant criticism!!!! Emotional Abuse is a pattern of behavior that impairs a child's emotional development or sense of self-worth. This may include constant criticism, threats, or rejection, as well as withholding love, support, or guidance. Emotional abuse is often difficult to prove and, therefore, CPS may not be able to intervene without evidence of harm to the child. Emotional abuse is almost always present when other forms are identified. direct from a child abuse website. Not aimed at anyone at all, just to serve as a reminder for some that constant criticism of ANY CHILD can bring forth some horrible consequences! So think before you go bashing!! The parent CAN BRING CHARGES AGAINST YOU FOR EMOTIONAL ABUSE TO THEIR CHILD IF A POST CAN BE TRACED TO YOU.

Subject: Do you feel a child's weight has any bearing on how they are scored? My daughter is starting to put on some pounds at her midriff and I'm afraid it will really hurt her scoring. I am the National Director for American Super Kid and was the IL/IA state Director for Crowning Beauty. I have 3 children Candice is 9, Mike is 6, Emily is 2...we have another baby on the way. We started pageants when Candice was 4..she didn't do so well, but finally won last year. Michael did his first pageant FF state and won 6 and up boys Emily has done the most pageants...she wins at state and national level in glitz and natural pageants. All children are starting to do some modeling work. My house is torn up at the moment, so going temp insane...lol. Getting the kitchen redone (water leak) and our yard is getting filled in...so it is a mess everyplace I look...lol Hugs Marcie

Many of you may be familar with my pageant experiences, so I'll concentrate on what you probably don't have a clue about! LOL :-)

I attended college, for one year, when I was 21 -- I'm 57 now -- and had a 1.75 GPA. That's not even a "C" average! Quit to get married, which many of "my generation" did at the time.

Worked for "Ma Bell" for awhile. then became a professional clown and magician for 11 years. (Yes. You read that right! "Clown" and "Magician"! LOL) My stage name was "Bunkins" and stories about me and my "business" (Fun & Fantasy Limited -- I also did costumed singing tlelgrams!) were featured in several books and magazines written specifically for children's entertainers including: "The Success Book" and "The Birthday Party Business". My biggest "claim to fame" as Bunkins was when I appeared at a Muscular Dystropy Telethon in chicago with Ed McMahon and Ernie Banks! I "retired" after the birth of my son in 1982.

However, I always wanted to "learn" and following my divorce, "dropped out of the real world" for nine years -- from 1987, when I was 40 - 1996 -- to finish college! the kids and I moved to Arkansas and I attended school there -- straight through. Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and 18 credit hours beyond that. I'm the first in my famiy to have a college degree! Aslo brought my GPA up from 1.75 to a 3.79 in grad school! :-)

It was during the time I was in school that Amy began competing in pageants and everything snowballed from there.

Over the years, in "real life", I've worked mostly at newspapers and magazines -- that's why I chose Journalism as my undergraduate major. After college, I was Marketing Director for a large financial firm who helped developed an Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course and had the "honor" of meeting and working with Mr. Palmer the couuple times he came in to review the course and for the Grand Opening. The same group also brought in Maynard Ferguson and Pete Foutain for concerts while I was there so I was involved in those organizational activities too.

OH! And some "pageant trivia" most of you don't know..... I've "met" 4 Miss Americas and actually "worked with" 2 of them! I was introduced to both Judi Ford (1968) and Erika Harold (2002). Marjorie Vincent (1991) and I worked together on projects for the financial company listed above as well as a couple things for Miss Illinois when she worked for the TV station in Peoria. And, Debbye Turner's (1990) mother, Gussie, was MY ACADEMIC ADVISOR at Arkansas State University! I was writing for the college newspaper the year Debbye was crowned (She won as Miss Missouri but her hometown was Jonesboro, AR) and was asked to follow the pageant, interview her parents, and covered her travels around Arkansas for one of two official "Miss America Homecomings"! Her mother, Gussie, and I became friends and, when Amy began competing, she became my "pageant mother mentor"! She passed away in 1995 and I was honored to have attended her funeral. She was an outstanding lady!

My name is Dena Cox, board owner. I am 31 yrs old and live in Litchfield,IL. Together, my husband,Chris Sr.and I have 3 wonderful children together. Kelsey is 9, Chris Jr. age 2, and Aubree Ann age 4 months. I have a degree in Microcomputer Technology, of which bored me to death and I never even applied for a job anywhere with!! LOL! Then went to nursing school, I majored in psych, and worked a lock-down unit for several years. The facility was purchased by a group of people from Texas and relocated there. So I went to Medical Staffing Network where I am still employeed. I also just completed a certificate in Real Estate Brokerage, and am now employeed with Coldwell Banker, and I love it!! Kelsey began competing in pageants at about age 10 months, long story there, but it was right after the death of an infant we lost to a genetic disease (we lost 2) called Osteogenesis Imperfecta type 2. A cousin's wife had a child the same age as Kelsey and had taken her to a prelim where she had won a runner up and kept throwing it into my face. This didn't bother me as much as the fact that after I lost the baby, a very cruel nurse told me "it's better off, the child would have been a freak to society if it lived". So after many months of her non-sense, I put Kelsey against her daughter in the next pageant and she took GRAND LOL!!! Hooked every since (she pulled her daughter out of pageants!!) So that's how we came to the pageant world. how about yourself?
