Ms. Maan Bayot, 2004 Bb. Pilipinas International and 2004 Miss Maja International first runner-up must really be oozing with x-factor and exquisitely beautiful coz she bested 2005 Miss Universe Natalie Glevoba who placed 2nd runner-up in the 2004 Miss Maja International held last year in Colombia. Paging BPCI, why not send Maan Bayot to Miss Globe International or Miss Tourism International this year.

it is a given fact that the people behind the four international beauty pageants in the world has always been typecasted. they often prefer beauties from europe and the americas, and neglect the delegates coming from asia and africa. the only reason that i could see why they prefer them is all about politics and the achievement of having a higher television rating. we know that many powerful and richest countries came from europe and beauty pageants in the americas received higher tv ratings. i do hope that the organizers will not only consider these two being the main reason in choosing a new queen. they should realized that being diversified will make them achieve the real goal of their organization: TO PROMOTE PEACE AND UNDERSTANDING AMONG ALL NATIONS FOR US TO BECOME A WELL BALANCED WORLD.

If the best of this year crop of beauty winners, Gionna Cabrera, failed to become even a semi-finalist, what can we expect from Carlene Aguilar, Lara Quigaman and newly-crowned Miss Philippines Earth Genebelle Raagas? Let's admit it, Gionna is the best overall among these beauties. If she failed to make it, Im sure the rest will follow. Its sad but I guess that's the bitter truth. But Im still proud of Gionna's achievement in the Miss Universe Pageant by winning Miss Photogenic, Top 5 in National Costume, Thai Silk Awardee, and as one of the 15 chosen candidates to model for Queen Sirikit.

The 5 finalists are: Miss Venezuela, Miss Colombia, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Dominican Rebublic and Miss Philippines.

Host asks Miss Venezuela the final question, Miss Venezuela asks for a Spanish interpreter. Spanish interpreter translates the question, Miss Venezuela thinks while question is being translated then she answers in English. Applause!!! Applause!!!

Next, host asks Miss Colombia the final question, Miss Colombia asks for a Spanish interpreter. Spanish interpreter translates the question, Miss Colombia thinks while question is being translated then she answers in English. Applause!!! Applause!!!

Next, host asks Miss Puerto Rico the final question, Miss Puerto Rco asks for a Spanish interpreter. Spanish interpreter translates the question, Miss Puerto Rico thinks while question is being translated then she answers in English. Applause!!! Applause!!!

Next, host asks Miss Dominican Republic the final question, Miss Dominican Rebublic asks for a Spanish interpreter. Spanish interpreter translates the question, Miss Dominican Rebuplic thinks while question is being translated then she answers in English. Applause!!! Applause!!!

Finally Miss Philippines... host asks Miss Philippines the final question. Miss Philippines asks for a Spanish interpreter. Hosts ask why Miss Philippines need a Spanish interpreter when she can speak in English... Well Miss Venezuela, Miss Colombia, Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Dominican Republic asks for a Spanish interpreter when they can very well answer in English!!! That means they speak and understand the language. I just wanted to stall and think of my answer while they are translating the question...just like what they are doing! Miss Philippines smiles then puts her hands on her hips faces the crowd..then thunderous APPLAUSE!!! APPLAUSE!!!

Miss Universe 2007, Miss Philippines gets into the top 5, she is being asked for the final question...she then asks for an interpreter who can speak Aramaic!!! :)

Job well done! But the only thing that bugs me was when they announced the winner of the miss photogenic title.....Gionna seems a little bit displeased/dissatisfied in getting her award "Be proud of what you deserve". Another thing's.... the male host wasn't good enough for me....it just because he acted like kind of....inappropriate way a sort of he was making fun of the title probably or maybe the winner,i don't know? 'twas annoying.....for sure you had noticed that. Anyhow i was born in Tarlac and used to live there.I'm very PROUD and once again you did a great job!!!

NBC ENTERS A 50/50 PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH DONALD J. TRUMP FOR THE MISS UNIVERSE FRANCHISE

NBC and TELEMUNDO to Become Broadcasters of the Competitions

Burbank - June 20, 2002 - NBC has entered into an exclusive agreement with Donald Trump to become equal partners in the Miss Universe franchise. As part of the agreement, NBC and Telemundo (including Puerto Rico) will become the U.S. broadcasters of the MISS UNIVERSE®, MISS USA®, and MISS TEEN USA®, competitions for five years beginning in 2003. The announcement was made today by Jeff Zucker, President, NBC Entertainment and Donald J. Trump.

"We're excited about this agreement to enter a long-term partnership with Donald Trump and The Miss Universe Organization," said Zucker. "Through the NBC network, Telemundo, NBC's cable properties, the NBC local stations and ShopNBC, NBC has tremendous power to leverage this global franchise and enhance its success."

"This is a great opportunity for us," said Donald Trump. "The deal matches the No. 1 television network with the No. 1 global pageant organization, which is sure to be a winning combination."

Both NBC and Telemundo will work to develop spin-off programming from the pageants. In addition, Telemundo will produce a Spanish language pre-pageant program for the Miss Universe pageant. The new agreement also extends Miss Universe's reach into commerce with the opportunity to sell pageant-related merchandise on ShopNBC.

The Miss Universe Organization, now in its 51st year, is an international organization offering women an opportunity to communicate their views and to be personally enriched, attain personal career goals and promote social and humanitarian causes.

The MISS USA® competition is traditionally broadcast in February while MISS UNIVERSE® is conducted in May and the MISS TEEN USA® is held in late summer.

Earlier this year, the MISS UNIVERSE® broadcast enjoyed its best ratings among adults 18-49 in four years. The 2002 telecast outscored last September's "Miss America Pageant" pageant among adults 18-49 and generated the highest rating in that category since the 1999 airing of "Miss America Pageant."

The Miss Universe Organization, producers of the MISS UNIVERSE®, MISS USA®, and MISS TEEN USA®, pageants is a Donald J. Trump and NBC partnership.

MEDIA CONTACTS:
Rebecca Marks, NBC Entertainment Publicity, 818/840-3914
Jennifer Skorlich, NBC Entertainment Publicity, 818/840-4630
Mary Hilliard Harrington, Miss Universe Organization, 212/373-4982
Esther Swan, Miss Universe Organization, 212/373-4870

oxana nadethronova: This is one of the reasons, why the so-called "latinas" are doing very well in this competition, especially Puerto Rico. Their preparedness and sheer perfectness is evident, but this development is one of their "unfair" advantage in this competition.

Evidently, with "Telemundo", it's very clear why the "latina look" is the one MISS U is looking for. Though Canada is non-latina, she did competed before in Miss Mundial (or whatever it is called). This is also the reason why the precious top 5 slots is filled with latinas.

It's quite understandable why most of us fans of Asians are hoping for our bets to at least make it the top 15, then we're happy already, somehow deep inside, we already know that latina's would move forward.

Anyway, this is why Binibini should focus on Miss World and Miss International. It's even understandable why most Bb. Pilipinas - Universe title holders are being trained in Colombia. Apparently, they are being trained to look and act like a Latina because that is the only way our bets would make it with NBC/Telemundo's Miss Universe. Though it still hasn't worked in our favor.

NBC and Telemundo is looking forward for a LONG TERM PARTNERSHIP. Need I say more of the grim fate that awaits Asian beauties?

Subject: WHAT IS THE TRUTH ABOUT MISS HAWAIIAN TROPIC INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT?

Author:
MISS LOTIN GIRL
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 04:40:51 05/06/05 Fri

Does this MISS HAWAIIAN TROPIC INTERNATIONAL Pageant originate from or is it based in HAWAII (its capital city is Honolulu), a TROPICAL STATE of U.S.A., located in the Central Pacific Ocean, comprising the Hawaiian Islands?

In its 22 years of existence, is it true that the producers of this int'l pageant rake in hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars from the enormous, worldwide sales of this tanning lotion called HAWAIIAN TROPIC?

THE HAWAIIAN TROPIC TANNING LOTION & OTHER HAWAIIAN TROPIC PERSONAL SKIN CARE & BEAUTY PRODUCTS is a MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY globally!!

And so they made the pageant international/worldwide TO INTRODUCE AND PROMOTE THE PRODUCTION AND SALES OF THE HAWAIIAN TROPIC TANNING LOTION/SUN SKIN CARE PRODUCTS GLOBALLY through the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Int'l Pageant?

The Organizers of this pageant SHOULD NOT USE the words HAWAIIAN TROPIC AS ITS TITLE BEING VIED BY DIFFERENT FOREIGN NATIONALS BECAUSE:

1) HAWAIIAN REFERS TO HAWAII, A TROPICAL STATE (ONLY A VERY TINY STATE, ONLY ONE OF THE STATES) OF U.S.A., COMPRISING THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS, LOCATED IN THE CENTRAL PACIFIC OCEAN. IT IS A NAME OF A SPECIFIC PLACE OR LOCATION, A TINY STATE CALLED HAWAII.

THOUGH THE ORGANIZERS CLAIM THAT IT DOESN'T DISCRIMINATE ETHNICITY OR THE NATIONALITY OF THE CANDIDATES, STILL THE TITLE DOES NOT SPEAK FOR ITSELF!

BECAUSE IF THE WINNER IS AN INDIAN, AN AFRICAN OR A EUROPEAN--SHE IS DEFINITELY NOT A HAWAIIAN!!! A BIG CONTRADICTION!!!

JUST LIKE THE MISS ASIA-PACIFIC INT'L PAGEANT. EVEN IF THEY ADD THE WORD "INTERNATIONAL" AND INVITE COUNTRIES FROM ALL CONTINENTS TO JOIN TO MAKE IT WORLDWIDE, THERE IS ALSO A BIG CONTRADICTION!! BECAUSE IF THE WINNER IS A GERMAN, AN AFRICAN OR A EUROPEAN, SHE IS DEFINITELY NOT A WOMAN OF ASIA & THE PACIFIC! THE TITLE WOULD JUST BECOME INCONSISTENT, CONTRADICTORY AND RIDICULOUS!

TO BE CONSISTENT, SOUND & CREDIBLE, MISS ASIA-PACIFIC MUST STICK TO COUNTRIES OF ASIA AND THE PACIFIC REGION!

MISS EUROPE PAGEANT IS VERY CONSISTENT. ITS ORGANIZERS ARE REALLY INTELLIGENT PEOPLE FOR THEY KNOW THAT ASIA AND THE PACIFIC ARE NOT PARTS OF EUROPE! MISS EUROPE CONTESTANTS COMPRISE ONLY THE COUNTRIES OF EUROPE.

2) THE MISS HAWAIIAN TROPIC INT'L TITLE GIVEN BY THIS PAGEANT IS THE SAME AS THE NAME OF HAWAIIAN TROPIC, THE TANNING LOTION!!!

WHENEVER YOU HEAR MISS HAWAIIAN TROPIC INTERNATIONAL, WHAT COMES TO MIND IS THE NAME OF THE TANNING LOTION THAT ARE ALLEGEDLY PROMOTED (ITS SALES) INTERNATIONALLY OR GLOBALLY THROUGH THIS PAGEANT.

THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT GUYS
1. CONDUCT REGIONAL SEARCHES-THERE YOU CAN PICK UP AT LEAST 17 OFFICIAL CONTESTANT EACH REPRESENTING THE 17 REGION IN THE COUNTRY INCLUDING NCR.
2. ENTER THEM IN A BB. PILIPINAS ACADEMY (LIKE THE MISS VENEZUELA ACADEMY). TRAIN THEM FOR A YEAR.
GANOON LANG HO KASIMPLE ANG PROCEDURE.......FOR SURE THE RESPECTIVE LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFTHE REGIONS WILL COOPERATE...PROUD YATA SILA KUNG MERON SILANG KABABAYAN NA MAKAKASALI SA BB. PILIPINAS

Dear friends all over the world,

To me, I've always regarded Miss Universe as some pageant reputable and beautiful. It's a prestigeous event and only the great ladies make it up the stage.
This year or even last year, my heart and faith in Miss Universe shattered. I had been a fan since I was 14. I know some of you may be longer fans than myself but at 26 now, I feel that it's sad to see how things are progressing.

In Ecuador last year, I agree that many delegates from South America, Central, North are wonderful as compared to my Asian ones nonetheless only India made the cut. She's great though petite. I was sad that Japan lost the prelims and so was China. Most of them were mainly Latins. Take it as it's being held in a South American region where the popularity was higher for those Latinos. I am not being biased as I was a fan of Colombia since 1993 before and even Puerto Rico, Venezuela, USA, Dominican Rep.,Peru.....each year, certain girls are wonderful....so I vote for them.

This time round in Bangkok, through my years of viewing, I felt that some girls from Asia should at least have the honour to perform in the semis. For instance, Philippines, Thailand and Japan. I do think they deserved a spot. The Thai Prime Minister was utterly disappointed and I could feel the emotion in myself when the semis were being announced. Only---Indonesia??? I was proud of her but it was short-lived. I wonder if they ever invite a panel of 10 Asian judges and only two westerners....what will the outcome be and how will the Latins/Americans feel???

Personally, I am from Singapore and I know where out delegate stand as compared to the world. I do think some delegates like Philippines did a great job. I didn't fancy her at first and I started feeling proud of her. She did her best. I still will congratulate her. I also pity Miss Thailand. She's so elegant and transformed from a country-side looking girl to some elegant, classy beauty. Japan was my pick but I agreed that her risky gown was too much. I felt really sad till today for these ladies.

Girls like Mexico, Peru, Switzerland, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Domincan Rep., Canada and Latvia indeed deserved the spots. I think Israel wasn't great and needless to say were the half-Thai Norway, USA and Greece.

Canada --- Amazing and charming with her eyes and jet-black hair. Her body was proportioned and her walk was good. She gave a positive answer as well.

Puerto Rico --- I think she's beautiful from a distance as her face really was done too much. She's good and walk was one of the best. I did't think Miss Universe wanna promote another Denise Quiniones lookalike...

Dominican Rep.--- Whether she fixed her chin or not, it's a minor one and she's fresh and tall. She's friendly, sweet and seeing her was refreshing. She doesn't have the typical Latina-trained pageant look. I think she's natural enough.

Mexico --- She was quite a sweet and down-to-earth lady with somewhat a natural face. She didn't sway so well but her answers in English wasn't bad. She's nice to me as compared to last year's undeserving "drag-queen".

Venezuela ---- This girl was my fav after seeing her perform and her little gestures of wanting to congratulate Dominican Rep. touched me though she couldn't reach out for D.R during the top5..I think she's quite an emotional, sweet and humble Venezuelan representative. She teared alittle and her answer was so sad. It's better to ask some interesting, friendly questions than political as it's so out-dated. Maybe Air or Earth???? Just kidding...but I felt sorry for Monica as she's nice.

-------------------------------------------------------
USA walked like a mad lady with short arms and swang her head too much during the swimsuit. If she could make the 10, who couldn't Susie C. 03???

Norway was horribly made up and didn't focus while she did her evening gown segment...wasting time up there...

Israel was trying to have that seductive and naughty girl look...would be great if she tied her hair.

Trinindad Tobago is good but she has this unwilling to smile look...last year's was sleepy eyes....this year was frowning lips...

Greece I thought was ok but didn't like her plain blonde look. She's not tall and looked bulky in her gown and well....wasted another slot.

I felt so sad to see Philippines walk to collect her award. She's heart-broken as we can feel...the hypes, the press, the effort.....so was Miss Thailand.

Donald Trumph's show was exciting but it's more like an American contest like many commented. I agree. I guess it's such. Good luck to all....just sharing.

Really should have included Colombia, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Antigua & Barbuda...Aruba was good too.

:D
Love to all
B

Mabuhay Miss Philipines!

Pose dito, pose duon!

May dating.

and the winner is...?

Handang ipaglaban at lumaban.

Lutong macao!

Candidate Number 4 :

NCR Candidate –Antonette Stephanie D. Yu

Touted to be a frontrunner in this year’s pageant, this girl may just find her height and beauty a ticket to the Top 10. But pundits are quick to comment that this lady still lacks the queenly demeanor of a winner. Will this girl eventually deliver on pageant night? Well, let us see.

Gionna's pictures at the Miss Universe website are very beautiful, alluring and sexy. She has finally discovered what's best and good for her...make-up and hairstyle-wise. I just hope she makes a good choice for the gowns she will wear in the prelims and finals night. One word of advise to Gionna: don't wear the white, spaghetti-strapped, bare-midrib, sequined gown you wore during the registration, pleeeeaseee! it is so old fashioned and not suitable for a competition as stiff, as big and as prestigious as the Miss Universe.

Subject: THE TALENT COMPETITION - A PREVIEW TO ONE'S CREATIVITY AND INTELLECT

Author:
Marcus Acosta
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 20:03:45 05/23/05 Mon

The talent competition of the Miss Philippines 2005 was held at the Casino Filipino in Paranaque City last march 22, 2005. The talent competition is not a compulsory part of the competition. It is practically a competition of camaraderie and a welcome respite from the many grueling social activities the girls have been having for the last two weeks. It is indeed a respite watching 15 girls performing onstage showcasing their God-given talents.

Candidate Number 5 Genebelle Raga-as showed her own version of the song My Valentine. This girl really could carry a tune – a real trooper onstage. But alarmingly, her handlers don’t seem to listen to fashion advice. She was clad in a corset with a mini-skirt. Ok fine the dress was nice but it did not look good on Genebelle.

Candidate Number 12, Olivia Amor Cortes also did a song number to the tune of “Love Moves in a Mysterious Way.” Although she did it proficiently, she can not eclipse the performance done by Candidate Number 5.

Candidate Number is Rhodessa Delante. This candidate sang a medley of songs. I think the songs were lifted from the movie Pocahontas. She was in a fairy-like costume for added effect. But due to a much more superior performance by previous singers, although a laudable performance, she failed to make a mark.

Always a crowd favorite, Nadia Lee Cien Dela Cruz tried to wow the audience with her rendition of “How did you Know”. She also gyrated onstage as if aping the dancers of the noontime show Wowowee. The audience reaction this time to her performance is more of ambivalence.

Istana Eula Burgos, candidate number 24 sang to the tune of Paraiso while sketching the Paradise lost that she was longing for. Although this kind of talent had been a mainstay of beauty pageants, Istana added depth and conviction to her performance and it registered well with ample appreciation from the audience.

Candidate number 6, Pauline Garrison this time was taken seriously for her Big Spender performance ala-Broadway. The problem with this kind of performances is that people in the know would compare them to their theatrical counterparts. Is this candidate at par? Well, Pauline failed to sizzle onstage.

Eizel Jen Nocon, candidate number 7 did an interpretative dance number to the tune of “Isang Dugo, Isang Lahi.” Replete with a baro’t saya costume, this candidate showed tentativeness in her movements described as conservative by a person seated beside us.

Michelle Duyungan did a forgettable Hawaiian dance number. I am given an impression that sometimes we are doing disrespect to the dance itself. Just because we think the dance is an easy that we select it as our talent presentation. There is a proper way to do the dance and unfortunately, Michelle was not at par.

Bernadette Estrada, candidate number 17 did a modern jazz number to the consternation again of my seatmate. Although I an evaluating the performance from an objective point of view, the performance which was tinged with eroticism did not sit well with the audience.

Candidate number 13, April Lynn Villanueva did a monodrama of someone with the ambitions of entering showbiz. I watched this kind of talent so many time – from barangay to regional pageants. From gay to legitimate female beauty pageants. But I am surprised this talent presentation still elicited laughter from the audience although it has become so predictable. Well, with a little twist, flavoring and presentation, an old recipe maybe eaten with gusto again.

Evangelyn Taguba, Candidate Number 18, in keeping with the theme of the pageant delivered a monodrama about the effects of the destruction of our environment. She delivered her piece with all the elements of a monodrama. She pleaded as she delivered with angst, pain and sorrow. She was forceful as she portrayed the wrath and anger of Mother Nature. She delivered with a convincing ploy as she asked the audience to conserve and preserve our environment. A good note is also her costume which is that of a fairy. Quite an endearing concept of a talent for abeauty pageant that has beauties for nature as a concept. Will the concept pay off for Miss Taguba and be handed the talent award on the 29th of May?

Candidate Number 19, Olivia Marie Pe Benito also did a monodrama about the conflict between Christians and Jews. The effort is laudable. But as a pageant observer, I am also a stickler for concept. It would have been great if this candidate delved into the Christian-Muslim conflict in the South. She should have patterned her piece to this piece and have discussed how the war have wrecked havoc to the environment most epsececially the forests which have been a vital source of biodiversity.

Candidate Number 10, Chinette Oblepias did another monodrama. She tackled the battered wife syndrome and has found resolution of the conflict through love of Christ as she finally sketched through charcoal the image of Jesus Christ. Again the effort is praiseworthy but I find the thesis all wrong. I do not wish to spark a debate on the matter so I leave the performance as it is.

Caraga’s candidate, Candidate number 23, wowed the audience with her very sprightly performance. Clad in the native costume of their place she executed an indigenous Surigao dance while performing the city’s musical theme “Surigao, Surigao.” Very impressive indeed. What a wonderful performance to behold.

Candidate Number 21, Ree Carisse Castillo, a deadringer of the first Miss Afghanistan candidate to the Miss Earth 2003 Miss Vida Samadzhai played the drums in consonance with an ethnic music. Quite unique but such distinctiveness did not sustain the audience and my interest.

In my years of following beauty pageants, I have always debated with organizers that we remove the talent competition from the schedule of activities. Replace it with another competition like the Casual Wear Competition or whatever. Why do I insist? Because art exists in different forms and there are different criteria in evaluating them. Signers should be judged according to their musicality and performance. Public speaking through oration, monodrama, oral interpretation and interpretative reading should be judged according to delivery, power, character and life. A dance number is again classified according to genre and this should be judged according to performance, technical excellence and the like.

What I am saying is that judging a talent competition is mind boggling when you take into consideration all these aspects. When bounded by general criteria, we may be eliminating other good performances just because of the general impact that it had on the audience and the judges. Few judges may have seen the wisdom of individually evaluating the talents.

Well after having an incursion of what judges should pit in mind about talent performances, since it is a general talent criteria that was used, based on impact, I have chosen the following likely contenders for the Miss Talent Award:

My take on the matter is that it would be a duel between 18 and 23. These talent performances dwelled on concept. One adhered to the theme of the pageant and judges are sometimes inclined and swayed to award the girl who performed well with the theme to boot. This had happened in the recent past. But if the candidate is to be judged based on performance impact, then it would be Candidate number 23. Whatever it is, it is talent my dear. It is still important because you could have view of what is inside of the cerebral cortices of these ladies. Their creative abilities reflect basically their intelligence. I will venture on the totality of these candidates in my next postings.

Subject: ANG LONG GOWN COMPETITION NG MISS PHILIPPINES 2005

Author:
Okraveza Domondon

Date Posted: 04:47:52 05/19/05 Thu

Wala fo akong masavhi. Talaga pong sosyal as in BIG S ang affair. As in super class po.

Naku shades of what have u mga ate. Me extra vha kayong gown dyan? Walang umiimik. As in super luwang to the max. Malukretch aketch. O dvah?

Wala fo akong masavhi. Magaling rin naman ang nagdala. Kaya lang kung minsan, me kasavhihan na it is not the gown vhut it is the one wearing the gown.

Itech ang Best in Long Gown ko.

And candidate number 4 naman kaya. Very awkward ang paglalakad niya. It is the way the girl that carried the gown. Hehehehehe.

Magwindra kaya itilds sa long gown over my kyundidate ever na si Number 2?

Wala akong masavhi sa kyundidate number 5. Aru, pagkakaganda-gandang vhata. Matangkad. Eeeeeeeeee. Nakakaloka. At ang make-up flutch nitilds. Super oily ang ginawa. Ano vah yan. O dvah dudang.

O look ate, its my platito. No, it’s my palanggana.

Eto naming si kyundidate number 6. Kyundidate ba itilds. Ang tawag sa kanya ay Eethel Booba? Vhaka nagkakamali kayo mga sisteritchs, Ethel Baba savihin ninyo. Eeeeeeeeeeeee. Nakakaloka kayo ever.

Naku, nakakaloka foh. Wag ninyong akong filiting magsalita fah . Phluseeee.

See for yourself ang Miss Trinidad and Tobago ng Miss Philippines 2005.

Aba’t gusto pa ata akong gawing waiter nitilds. At eto fah, with matching blue eyeshadow ang bruhilda.

Maganda as in maganda fo talaga ang gown.

IN NA NGA, OUT PA

In fairness mga vhading, efektilds ang bruhitang itilds noong long gown presentation. Without meaning too, ha, get niya ang attention kech.

For that IN na IN siya.

In na nga sana, na-out fah ang lola ninyo.

Nakupo, napakabilis rumampa. Hoy hija. Lukring ka. Long gown competition ito. Hindi po swimsuit. Feeling mo ba pati long gown e magpirouette ka anitch? Mag-ingat vaka ka madafa. Masakit madafa hija. Careful careful.

Naku, nakakaloka. Anich itilds.

Are you in keeping with your natural exquisiteness hija?

Mama as in mamahalin po siya. In n asana pero out pa rin.

Vhakit kaya? Ay vhasta, never mind ke Feddilaine Apole. You are very easy to forget kasi eh. Hehehe.

Pero shocking akich, fara magkasya ang gownich niya ateng, as usual what’s the use of the magic of aspile ? Pero feelich ko ang ateng. In sya sa akin.

At babutch.

Subject: THE MISS PHILIPPINES 2005 SWIMSUIT COMPETITION

Author:
Marcus Acosta
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 20:55:57 05/19/05 Thu

The swimsuit competition of the Miss Philippines 2005 held at Lakeshore Estates in Mexico, Pampanga showcased the candidates in their splendid physical glory. Whenever there is a competition like this, apart to what the judges are being asked to look for based on the criteria for judging, I think the universal criteria for judging the swimsuit parade is to look at the candidate based on their overall projection, body figure and proportion, beauty of legs and carriage. Of course, in the overall projection, there is always the X-factor that is invoked when looking at the totality of the candidate. In terms of carriage, it is the way the candidate walked the walk. My review of the candidates will be divided into three aspects: I will discuss them as the following:

THE GIRLS WITH THE OHMMP…….

Candidate Number 1, Arlene Villanueva of the Cordillera Administrative Region during the swimsuit competition is an epitome of what a girl in swimsuit should be. Lacking the height of its taller competitors, lacking the svelte figure, possessing some flabs, this girl sashayed like a pro and all her inequities were forgotten. She had too much ohmmp that night and that mattered most. This girl carried herself with aplomb.

Candidate Number 6, Pauline Garrison of the National Capital Region was the butt of many jokes because of her resemblance to one comedienne host. But this did not deter her in proving to all sundry that she can make it to this swimsuit round. She showed grace. She projected well and she knows how to capitalize on that pose that will show her beautiful curves.

Everyone seems to await what this girl is going to show onstage. If we are to reminded, Candidate Number 18, Evangelyn Taguba of the National Capital Region made one 360 degree turn during the press presentation. Well, this time she did two 360 degree turns to the delight and applause of the audience. This girl did make the runway her slave. She sashayed, she projected with finesse and she was all over with charisma. A strong bet for the Best in Swimsuit Award.

THE NOT-SO OHMMPS…….

Hometown girl, Candidate Number 5, Genebelle Raagas was cheered by her kabalens. With a towering height and good projections, she did exceptionally well. However, I have some misgivings on her. I have noticed that the make-up artists are trying to experiment on her looks but to no avail. She should be able to find an endearing look that would highlight her physical prowess. A very good make-up artist will do her good.

Istana Eula Burgos, Candidate Number 24, moved on the stage so smoothly. She appeared to have a voluptuous figure that could wow hot-blooded males. Istana however is limited by height on this matter.

Candidate Number 4 did not show that much ohmmps. But she could be categorized under the not so ohmmps. With a statuesque figure, Stephanie Yu still commands attention onstage even with not so sterling performance.

OTHER CANDIDATES:

Candidate Number 7 – proficient

Candidate Number 9 – exotic presence

Candidate Number 12 – reminds us always of her Mirriam Quiambao demeanor

Candidate number 16 – her mestiza emanates.

Well, I would not want to talk about others, so-so performances. I would not want to dip my hand on other posters potshots on the candidates.

My countrymen, you will all be surprised but my fearless forecast in the Miss U is that 4 out of 5 of the Top 5 will be Asian beauties...Philippines, Japan, Thailand and India with the 5th spot a toss for Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Dominican Republic. With Gionna's height, lovely face (Miss U judges dont go for pretty faces but lovely faces, meaning not the perfection of one's facial features but the radiance/allure/aura on one's face and persona), intelligence, regal bearing and good fashion sense, she will fight neck-to-neck for the Mikimoto crown.

THIS IS GOOD NEWS! Gionna has been chosen as one of the 15 Miss U candidates to (fashion) model on May 23, 2005 for her Majesty, Queen Sirikit of Thailand. This is a good sign that Gionna is being noticed for her beauty, elegance and good fashion sense. With this fashion show, Gionna will be put into the limelight and the media/press will give her the needed exposure for a better shot at the crown.

First set, the power block. The tallest women with flawless facial features, great physique, the best english (or most confident in speaking ), and the best evening gowns:

1. South Africa
2. Canada
3. Venezuela
4. Chile
5. Aruba
6. Serbia and Montenegro
7. Antigua and Barbuda or Dominican Republic
8. Australia

And following the trend at this year's Ms. USA, more than one "short" candidate will break into the semis, possibly even grab the crown:

9. Norway
10. El Salvador or Colombia
12. Croatia
13. Mexico
14. Thailand

Recently, the odds of an asian entering the top five has become zero or 1. but since ms. u is in asian territory this year, expect the chances to double. we'll see two, three at the most, asians in the semis. THAILAND is a shoo-in. The other will be:

15. Japan,

for being trendy, vivacious, modern, and TALL.. everything that Ms. U loves in the typically shy japanese candidate. Ms. INDONESIA, while not feature-perfect, is the most exotic-looking of all the asian candidates. she poses well in front of the camera and has one of the better gowns in the pageant. with the controversy surrounding her entry in Ms. U, she just might grab the spot ordinarily reserved for INDIA.

Every year, one of the most popular press favorites fails to get in the finals. This year, it might be

Ms. Latvia (long forehead, shy nature, a blonde..)

Alternates: Internet-voting is going to decide one or two slots in the semis. Expect Ms. Puerto Rico, Ms. India, or Ms. Philippines for this.

This year's Ms. Philippines is the tallest candidate that the country has sent in recent years. She is reportedly a press favorite. However, like Nina Alagao, she has less-than-perfect facial features (a thick nose, messy short hair and a lopsided mouth). Minus Alagao's confidence, sex appeal, grace on the runway, and physique (plus an ordinary evening wear) it's an uphill battle for her to enter the top 15.

Hopefully, with internet voting and huge support from her countrymen, the girl can have a shot the coveted semis.

Subject: THE DISTINCTIONS OF THE MISS UNIVERSE (A WORLD BEAUTY QUEEN) TO A NATION'S LEADER (POLITICIAN), MONARCH/ROYALTY & THE POPE

realistically, miss universe is merely a talent of the miss universe inc. she wields no power. true she is known worldwide. but if you have actually traveled around the world, you'll realize that beauty contests are not that respected in most parts of the world except in latin america, thailand, philippines, korea and some parts of canada and united states.

miss universe has no actual power to legislate rules and regulations for countries. she cannot truly establish world peace. she is purely a model, an entertainer and a talent ot donald trump and NBC.

she has no legal or political power to speak of.

some people should better have a clearer grasp of reality.

we love pageants. we love beauty queens, especially miss universe. but we should over-idealize our perceptions.

get a life.

globalphilanthropist wrote:

Yes, realistically, the Miss Universe is not only a global role model, a global ambassador of goodwill, a global talent and entertainer, but Miss Universe is the symbolic queen of the entire universe. Queen Elizabeth II is the symbolic queen of U.K. only.

In terms of power, some royalties/monarchies have no actual legal or political power such as the British royalty. They are mere symbolic. Their affairs are only very well-publicized globally like Michael Jackson that's why they also get millions of foreign, avid fans and fanatics.

Of course a world beauty queen is not a politician or a monarch who are invested with the power to govern and lead a country or kingdom.

I'm not a lawyer and I'm not so knowledgeable on national & int'l laws. If I'm not mistaken, in many countries, the power to make and amend laws are done by the senate and congress, and the leader approves them into laws. In reality, the political or legal powers of any nation's leader comes from the peope/countrymen who invested/endowed him/her with those powers.

And no one is above the law. In history, we have seen many empowered leaders of nations who became powerless and were put to jail because of their great unlawful deeds and, likewise, monarchs who were dethroned.

Just for the sake of comparison, we can see and realize these clear, valid, truthful and realistic distinctions:

1) The Miss Universe Coronation is a world event that involves countries/nations and all continents of the world, and is witnessed live by the whole world. The coronation of a monarch is just a kingdom's internal affair though other nations' leaders are invited as guests. but definitely it is not a world event. The affair is held only in the kingdom and does not involve any country. It is only well-publicized worldwide.

In the strict sense of the word, the universe or cosmos that comprises all the galaxies, stars and planets and all that exist (visible and invisible, material and nonmaterial, living and nonliving), is truly incomparable to any kingdom or country in the world. Great Britain or U.K. can never be greater than the universe!

The Universe is the ultimate and the greatest totality of reality!

2) The crown, title and reign of a world beauty queen is global or worldwide in scope while the crown, title and reign of a monarch/royalty is confined or limited only to his/her kingdom or country. Likewise with the authority, power and jurisdiction of any nation's leader in the world which is also limited to his/her country or nation only.

3) The crown, title and reign of a world beauty queen is earned (acquired as a result of her effort, performance and action) while the crown, title and reign of a monarch/royalty is hereditary (just handed down or inherited only).

4) A nation's leader acquired his position and is put to power (which is invested in him/her by the people) by a popularity contest called poll or political election. What the political candidate has to do is to just vie and aim for the highest or most number of votes through intensive and massive solicitations of votes. he/she who is the most popular candidate, who obtains the highest number of votes, wins the popularity contest or political election!

5) Just like the political election of all nations' leaders (politicians) in the world, even the pope is also elected through a popularity contest called conclave, the secret meeting of all cardinals to elect the pope. What the would-be pope has to do is to just vie and hope for the highest number of votes of his fellow cardinals from different nations, then he just waits for the result. the most popular cardinal, who obtains the most number of votes, wins and acquires the papacy!

Some countries just don't realize the global significance of world pageants despite their many important global causes that greatly help and make our planet a better place to live in. These noble, global causes and objectives of world pageants for the world cannot even be done globally by any nation's leader or monarch for most of them are only concerned with their own respective countries or kingdoms.

Regardless of nationalities, races, religions or ideologies, world beauty contests/pageants play an important and significant global role and impact to the world. With their noble causes and great objectives for the upliftment and betterment of humankind and this planet, they deserve high respect and appreciation of the whole world.

The Top 10 most liked girls in Thailand basing on their shots, their personalities and their style.

Every week, Bangkok TV reporters do interview youngsters, working adults to whom they felt have the best chance of getting in the semi-finals. They were showed a catalogue of the ladies..here are the hot picked ones who left deep impressions to the friendly Thai locals and the Thai people worshipped these ladies like goddesses.

Top 10:

Elegant, classy and humble lady.

Almost perfect faced girl. She has everything, height, stunning blue eyes,smile....great blue gown!

Blonde who's photogenic and stylish. Her height and figure wowed many.

Teenish look with supermodel calibre. Great dress sense.

Press no.1 favourite as well as people. She's stunning and exotic to Asians.

You can't not notice her. She's extremely trendy and she's been an idol to the ladies out in Bangkok.

We can't leave Singapore out this time. She's witty, genuine laughter and smile that melts people.Reporter's favourite girl.Approachable and she's a sunshine.

Just being porcelain that people envy her skin. She's photogenic yet little stiff though.

Well respected for her womanly, demure nature. Tall and smart.

Similar to Singapore, this girl is sincere and smiles with her heart.Well-loved.She's close to Singapore in the personality contest.

Dark Horses...

Lately, she's been getting attention and she's really a young, sweet barbie. She's new here ...all the best.

Her gown was like awesome, making her a goddess. She's great from the Middle East.

Venezuela is dainty and has a shy-girlish appeal.Nice gown.Nice hair.

She may make the cut as she's a girl with the right attitude. Stay exotic and classy!

This girl's great with her speech and India's been a traditional favourite in pageants. She's liked by locals but she's got to train harded physically to get in.I hope she does look better on time.Best wishes.

Hope China shines with her personality as she's been overshadowed by fellow Asian girls here.Bubbly and lively, her red gown may not help her much.

Australia may make the semis but people do not really remember how she looks like. She has to do something as the pressure is on her -----reason is Australia won in 2004.

Having fans initially, she lost some positive feedbacks from locals.Being seen avoiding her fellow Asian peers during photo sessions and her interview at the Miss Universe website created a negative impression.Reportes do respect her but people see her as trying to be a top 15 too soon and her Filippina accent stretched to American accent halfway through interviews.Hard and cold compeititor at Miss Universe, Bangkok.

CANDIDATE NUMBER 7 - Eizel Jen Nocon

This girl exudes a radiance of goodwill during the cultural night. But she had to learn to stand out. She just blended so well with the others that the impression she gives is that she is just one of the girls.

CANDIDATE NUMBER 8 - Ma. Theresa R. Galang

Another pretty face in the bunch. But will she deliver the goods?

CANDIDATE NUMBER 9 - Aileen A. Daep

Pictures maybe so deceiving. This girl sizzled onstage. But that’s just it.

CANDIDATE NUMBER 10 - Chinette P. Oblepias

A very refreshing face.

CANDIDATE NUMBER 11 - Michelle Y. Duyungan

Charming with good projections.

CANDIDATE NUMBER 12 - Olivia Amor J. Cortez

The Leslie Jean Samson look-a-like of this year’s pageant. Will she act like a winner?
