1984 - Catherine Jane Brummit
Q. Who is the man that you admire most and why?
A. I would say, it would be Pope Paul, because that’s a very common answer but, because he has traveled a lot and has gone to places where most of the people wouldn’t know. He tried to spread peace. He has been the first pope that has done that for a long time.
1986 - Alice Dixson
Q. What is your stand on the legality of divorce in the country, are you for or against it, and why?
A. I’m very against divorce because I think that if people get married, they should stay married, if they love each other, they shouldn’t get married in the first place.
1990 - Jennifer Pingree
Edu Manzano: Your ambition is to be a journalist.
Jennifer: Yes, that’s right.
Edu: What are some of the topics you would like to write about?
Jennifer: The topics I want to write about is about the color of the Philippines.
Edu: Which is?
Jennifer: Which is dirty white.
1991 - Ma. Patricia Betita
Apa Ongpin: If you had a daughter (and probably you will have one day), will you encourage her to join this contest?
Patty: Well, yes, because the Bb. Pilipinas is a very prestigious pageant and this is one way of bringing out the best in a Filipina. And of course, we have to be proud of our country…the Filipinas. As the song of tonight as what we sang in the opening, she’s the perfect symbol of the people, rich in heritage and love, lovely, pretty, act…what’s this…captivating, so exciting, she will surely win your heart, that’s Bb. Pilipinas.
1992 - Joanne Alivio
Apa Ongpin: Joanne is from Quezon Province, but has made her home in San Pedro, Laguna. And she’s friendly and sensitive to other people’s feelings, she takes a keen interest in theater and believes that media should be used more to reach out to the masses. She idolizes her father so much, and she said that not even Richard Gomez can compete with him. I wanna ask you a special question. If tonight, you were a judge instead of a contestant, who would you vote for, who do you think deserves to be the Bb. Pilipinas Universe?
Joanne: Not only I would choose somebody deserving for the Bb. Pilipinas Universe title, but I would based my judging, I would put my basis in a beauty not only physical, but how she communicates with people, how she reaches out for the masses, and how she can adopt to different environment and different types of people.
1993 - Sheela Mae Santarin
Apa Ongpin: Supposing you win a dating game, and you were given your choice of a date. Who among the following would you choose? Maybe you can also tell us why:
Michael Jackson
Prince Albert of Monaco
Prince Bolkiah of Brunei
Prince, the pop singer
Sheela: I think Michael Jackson. Because his personality interests me. I like interesting people. I learn a lot from them.
1994 - Alma Concepcion
Apa Ongpin: You already won a beauty contest. What is the most important lesson (I mean having joined, this is your 2nd beauty contest), having joined 2 beauty contests, what is the most important lesson that you have learned?
Alma: Ah, it is showing the best in me, not only the physical beauty, but also the internal beauty which can be seen from the heart, and also you must have faith in God.
1995 - Gladys Duenas
Richard Gomez: Tell me, what can you say about the massacre movies being produced and shown in Philippine movies, in Philippine cinema?
Gladys: Well, ah, personally I don’t think these massacre movies should be shown, because I don’t believe negative aspects of life should be focused more than those…we should be focusing more on the good things that life can offer us, and that’s how we can improve.
Richard: Ah, but don’t you think if there is good, there is bad, too?
Gladys: Yeah, ah, I’d like to quote a word from Mr. Franklin Roosevelt. He said that the test of progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much, but it is whether we add enough for those who have little. Meaning if we focus ourselves to the negative aspects of life, the more it will imbibe in our country, in our nation, in ourselves. And so I think, it is better that we focus more on the good side of life.
1996 - Yedda Marie Mendoza
Martin Nievera: She is a nurse who want to one day become a doctor. True?
Yedda: That’s true.
Martin: This is her dream. Now, what happen if you win tonight, if one of the three crowns could be on your head, and if it is, would you give up this dream or would you still pursue it, with a crown?
Yedda: Well, if I become a beauty titlist, I think I have to postpone my education of medicine. But I believe it’s going to be very fascinating and very interesting, that I am a beauty titlist and at the same time a doctor, and that’s very rare to have beauty and brain at the same time.
1997 - Susan Jane Ritter
Martin Nievera: You are one of a person who enjoys swimming, snorkeling and jet skiing. What about the water appeals to you the most? Why water? What is it about water that you like?
Susan: It’s basically I’m an adventurous person and I love the beach. We get to see new things and explore new things that you never knew existed, and especially when you go snorkeling or scuba diving.
1998 - Collette Centeno
Paolo Bediones: You are a bowler, right? Can you tell us a little more about this?
Collette: Well, actually, bowling runs in my family. My dad is an assistant coach and my granddad is a lifetime president of the British Tenpin Bowling Association. So I guess it runs in my blood.
Paolo: So what’s your highest score?
Collette: 250
1999 - Georgina Anne Sandico
Paolo Bediones: If you have a chance to choose between a suitor to marry, a suitor who could give you children but you didn’t love, or someone you love but could not give you children. Which one would you choose?
Georgina: I’d rather choose the one I really love but who can’t even give me children, coz actually like having children nowadays is so easy, coz there’s a lot of less fortunate kids out there where you could adopt them. And one more thing, it’s much better to have someone you really love.
2000 - Joanna Maria Penaloza
Tessie Lichauco: What do you consider your most important priority in life?
Joanna: Well, my most important priority in life would always be my education. Because for me, if you have the beauty on the outside and don’t have nothing inside, there’s no use for it. The education is your future. So I’m very much inclined to prioritize my education.
2001 - Maricarl Tolosa
Richard Gordon: What is the most serious problem about environment today, and what can you do about the situation?
Maricarl: Well, first of all, the serious environmental problem today is the garbage problem. Because I believe living in a clean and beautiful place will help us Filipinos to have bright look to the future.
2002 - Kristine Alzar
Cesar Montano: As Bb. Pilipinas, if your boyfriend lets you choose between marriage and your title during your reign, which one will you choose?
Kristine: Well, in the first place, I don’t think my boyfriend will propose marriage when he knows that I’m in a title…that I’m holding a Bb. Pilipinas title. But if so, that he does propose marriage to me, I will still choose the Bb. Pilipinas title, because I worked so hard for it. And this title is going to make me go ways…go a long, long way because I’ll be representing the country in another…in…I’ll be representing the country in ah…I’m sorry…in other place, yes. And marriage will come in the right place and time. So if he really love me that much, I know that he will wait.
2003 - Jhezarie Javier
Ayse Ivasiglu : How can a woman grow old gracefully?
Jhezarie: Good evening. For me, a woman can grow gracefully by letting her own spirit rise. It’s not the physical body that is important. She must make her spirit shape up and therefore that will make her grow old gracefully.
2004 - Margaret Anne Bayot
Jose Pardo: What is your greatest ambition in life, and why?
Maan: Ok, my…my ambition in life is really to become a flight attendant, as well as I want to build up my own travel agency as soon as I raised up my own money so I can have my own business. But as I grow old, my interest changes. So right now, I want to become a flight attendant as well as a travel host.
