News this evening has some poll conducted by a local tv station and people who were along streets were asked who they preferred from this year's batch.
The results were interesting and spontaneous and seemed like there will be many dark horses this year's semi.
Many of the locals along MBK to Siam Centre which is the heart of Bangkok chose:

Colombia
Puerto Rico
Singapore
Japan
Thailand
Philippines
Latvia
Mexico
Indonesia
Denmark
Serbia Montenegro
South Africa
Canada

Shop vendors selling souveneirs and posters of delegates recent released pictorials said that many fans bought belonging to:

Mexico
Thailand
Colombia
Puerto Rico
Singapore
Japan
Korea
Canada

Well,it's a priviledged to be held in Bangkok and Thais are so delighted and honoured. It's like a party time for the people and every delegate is loved.

Good luck to those commonly mentioned basing on their popularity poll which was conducted randomly.

Cheers!!!

Subject: DO YOU ALSO KNOW THE SIGNIFICANCE OF NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL OR WORLD BEAUTY CONTESTS?

Author:

Date Posted: 02:46:19 05/12/05 Thu

HELLO, PEOPLE OF THE WORLD!

I'm not only a PHILANTHROPIST (a person who has great love for humankind, to promote human welfare & increase the well-being of humankind). I'm also an AESTHETE (a person who cultivates a superior appreciation & sensitivity to Beauty). I promote AESTHETICS (the branch of Philosophy dealing with the nature, creation and appreciation of Beauty) and AESTHETICISM (the Doctrine that Beauty is the basic principle from which all others are derived).

BEAUTY is anything or any quality that pleases the mind or the senses. Speaking of BEAUTY PAGEANTS, I really love them for they are spectacles & entertainments which are good respites from the hustle & bustle, concerns & problems of our daily living.

Indeed, it's true that MISS UNIVERSE is: 1) THE WORLD'S MOST PRESTIGIOUS CROWN 2) THE WORLD'S MOST PRESTIGIOUS TITLE, and 3) THE WORLD'S GREATEST BEAUTY CONTEST & PAGEANT (CORONATION)--A SINGLE, RENOWNED WORLD EVENT WATCHED LIVE BY MORE THAN 2 BILLION PEOPLE GLOBAL TV AUDIENCE!!

PERHAPS THOSE ARE THE REASONS WHY SOME MONARCHIES IN THE WORLD (COUNTRIES WITH CROWN QUEENS SUCH AS ENGLAND OR THE BRITISH ROYALTY) DO NOT SEND A REPRESENTATIVE IN THE MISS UNIVERSE (& OTHER WORLD-RENOWNED PAGEANTS) FOR THE CROWN BRITISH QUEEN IS SURPASSED OR MIGHT BE INSECURE BY THE GREAT GLOBAL PRESTIGE OF THE CROWNED MISS UNIVERSE QUEEN! THE MONARCHS OR THE BRITISH QUEEN'S REIGN IS LIMITED ONLY TO GREAT BRITAIN/U.K. BUT THE MISS UNIVERSE QUEEN REIGNS THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE--THE SYMBOLIC QUEEN OF THE WHOLE UNIVERSE!!!

Aside from being THE ROLE MODELS & THE EPITOMES OF WOMANHOOD in each particular country, NATIONAL & INT'L BEAUTY QUEENS (being NONSHOWBIZ CELEBRITIES or FIGURES) can also serve as AMBASSADORS OF GOODWILL fostering love, hope, peace & unity among their countrymen & among nations as well.

I really admire the committed organizations (the ALTRUISTIC, GREAT & NOBLE MEN & WOMEN) in countries that produce int’l pageants yearly as their means of raising big funds to support their NOBLE CAUSES such as:

PHILANTHROPIC / CHARITABLE / HUMANITARIAN PROJECTS & ACTIVITIES—global AIDS Disease Info & Prevention Campaign, etc. (by MISS UNIVERSE);

ENVIRONMENTAL / ECOLOGICAL PROTECTION & PRESERVATION OF MOTHER EARTH & MOTHER NATURE (by MISS EARTH);

FOR THE WELFARE IN PLIGHT OF THE WORLD’S STREET CHILDREN, INDIGENTS, ETC. (by MISS WORLD);

PROMOTION OF INT'L EXCHANGE BY PRIVATE DEMOCRATIC DISCOURSE & INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION (by MISS INTERNATIONAL);

PROMOTION & CULTIVATION OF WORLD ARTS & CULTURE (as in LA MAJA INTERNACIONAL’S (MS. MAJA INT'L) DE GOYA’S MAJA PAINTINGS & ARTISTIC & LITERARY WORKS PROMOTIONS/COMPETITIONS);

PROMOTION OF GLOBAL TRAVEL & WORLD TOURISM THAT GENERATE MORE TRAVEL & TOURISM PRODUCTS & SERVICES THAT PRODUCE MORE JOBS & EMPLOYMENTS WORLDWIDE (by MISS TOURISM INTERNATIONAL);

INDEED, THEY DISPROVE THE WORLD’S PERCEPTION & IMPRESSION (SUCH AS BY MUSLIMS, FEMINISTS, SOME COUNTRIES, ETC.) THAT WORLD BEAUTY PAGEANTS ARE JUST VANITIES & FRIVOLITIES & EXPLOITATIONS OF WOMEN.

BUT, IN THE CONTRARY & IN REALITY, NATIONAL & INT'L/WORLD BEAUTY PAGEANTS HAVE GLOBAL, SOCIAL, ARTISTIC & CULTURAL, ECONOMIC & ENVIRONMENTAL SIGNIFICANCE & RELEVANCE THAT THEY CAN CONTRIBUTE GREATLY TO THE UPLIFTMENT & BETTERMENT OF THE LIVES OF THE COUNTRYMEN IN THEIR RESPECTIVE COUNTRIES & IN THE WORLD AS A WHOLE!

In a gathering of extra-ordinary women like in the Miss Universe contest where all the girls are smart, beautiful and very determined to win the crown, i still believe that a vivacious, smart, intelligent and a pretty Filipina like GIONNA CABRERA can outshine them all and wear the mikimoto crown of the most prestigious beauty pageant. No doubt Gionna can hold her candle beside these Latin, American and European beauties because she has the height, the elegance, the eloquence, a good fashion sense and a very lovely face to boot. Goodluck Gionna and do make us proud by bringing home the bacon.

Subject: DO YOU KNOW THE SIGNIFICANCE OF A NATIONAL OR GLOBAL BEAUTY QUEEN?

Date Posted: 23:45:44 05/10/05 Tue

many people do not know what a beauty queen really is. some even do not mind about beauty contests or beauty pageants. i believe the following are the concrete reasons regarding the significance of beauty queens and beauty pageants (national and international). i am posting here my post from www.mabuhaybeauties.com forum:

globalphilanthropist wrote (quoted by me):

YES, GLOBAL BEAUTY PAGEANTS ARE A FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT. BUT
IT'S A FACT, TRUTH & REALITY THAT ANY CROWNED & PROCLAIMED GLOBAL BEAUTY QUEEN, OR ANY CROWN CONFERRED BY A PRESTIGIOUS & RESPECTED WORLD PAGEANT, IS MORE PROMINENT & SIGNIFICANT THAN THE CROWN OF A QUEEN OR KING OF ANY MONARCHY OR ROYALTY IN THE WORLD FOR:

1) THE CROWN, TITLE & REIGN IS GLOBAL/WORLDWIDE IN SCOPE WHILE THE MONARCH'S REIGN IS LIMITED ONLY TO HIS KINGDOM OR COUNTRY, SAME WITH THE LIMITED JURISDICTIONS OF EMPERORS, PRESIDENTS, PRIME MINISTERS & ALL NATIONS' LEADERS.

2) THE CROWN & TITLE OF A WORLD PAGEANT IS EARNED (ACQUIRED AS A RESULT OF EFFORT/PERFORMANCE & ACTION) WHILE THE CROWN & TITLE OF A MONARCH IS JUST HANDED DOWN (HEREDITARY OR INHERITED ONLY)!

angelface wrote (my reply post):

i think i can rephrase your 2 reasons why a global beauty queen crowned and proclaimed by any prestigious and respected world pageant is more prominent and significant than a queen or king/monarch of any monarchy or royalty in the world as well as all nations' leaders in the world, be he/she a prime minister, president, or emperor/empress because:

1) the crown, title and reign of a world beauty queen is global or worldwide in scope while the crown, title and reign of a monarch is confined or limited only to his/her kingdom or country. likewise, the authority, power and jurisdiction of any nation's leader in the world is also limited to his/her country or nation only.

2) the crown, title and reign of a world/global beauty queen is earned (gained as a result of her effort, performance and action) while the crown, title and reign of a monarch is hereditary (just handed down or inherited only!).

a nation's leader acquired his position and is put to power by a popularity contest called poll or political election. what a political candidate has to do is to just vie and aim to get the highest or most number of votes through intensive and massive solicitations of votes. he/she who is the most popular, who obtains the highest number of votes, wins the contest or political election!

just like the political election of top leaders (politicians) of all nations in the world, even the pope is also elected through a popularity contest called conclave, the secret meeting of all cardinals to elect the pope. what the would-be pope has to do is to just vie and hope for the highest number of votes of his fellow cardinals from different nations, then he just waits for the result. the most popular cardinal, who obtains the most number of votes, wins the papacy!

huwag ka naman masyadong obsessive sa maja internacional. masyado nang hard sell. maja is an OK pageant but even at the height of its prime (early to mid 1970s) it never reached the prominence of miss universe. not even miss world or miss international. why dont you write mrs araneta instead of writing all your thoughts in this message board. and write entertainments editors of newspapers and magazines so your convictions will be heard more audibly. but please, dont be too obsessive-compulsive about maja. pageants shouldnt be taken too seriously in this day and age. it is a form of entertainment as well as an arena for your women to raise their profiles professionally. subsequently, a celebrity satus can be used to highlight worthwhile causes. but it shouldnt be considered as the only venue to effect social change.

globalphilanthropist wrote:

I'M NOT SO OBSSESSIVE ABOUT THE MS. MAJA INT'L PAGEANT. IN FACT I MENTIONED MISS EARTH & MISS TOURISM INT'L PAGEANTS AS WORTHY GLOBAL PAGEANTS TOO. I ALSO EVEN SAID THAT I ADMIRE OTHER INT'L PAGEANTS AND THAT I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST THEM.

THOSE RUDE & CRUDE, NARROW-MINDED FORUMERS/CRITICS HERE WHO CAN'T SAY ANYTHING GOOD BUT JUST LOVE TO FIND FAULTS & WHO ARE BELITTLING THE MS. MAJA INT'L ARE THE ONES WHO ARE COMPULSIVE FOR THEY ARE SO REACTIVE AND EMOTIONAL. THEY EVEN USE INVECTIVES & VULGAR WORDS IN EXPRESSING THEIR OPINIONS.

MS. STELLA ARANETA & HER BPCI SHOULD GIVE FAIR TREATMENT IN GIVING TITLES & CROWNS IN THE BB. PAGEANT. IF THEY COULD SPEND FOR THE TOURISM CROWN, THEY COULD TOO FOR THE MAJA CROWN. FINANCIAL MATTER OR COST CUTTING IS NOT AN ISSUE. BPCI IS VERY CAPABLE TO FINANCE ALL THE CROWNS & TRAVEL EXPENSES OF ALL THE BB. QUEENS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE INT'L CONTESTS. IF THERE'S A WILL THERE'S A WAY. MS. STELLA ARANETA IS THE WIFE OF THE PHILIPPINE BUSINESSMAN / BILLIONAIRE, THE OWNER/DEVELOPER OF THE ARANETA CENTER. IF THEY ARE REALLY GENEROUS, KIND & SUPPORTIVE ENOUGH, THEY WOULD BE WILLING ENOUGH TO HELP & SPEND JUST A VERY SMALL FRACTION/AMOUNT OF MONEY FROM THEIR GREAT AFFLUENCE.

BB. PILIPINAS-TOURISM INT'L WOULD BE SENT TO MS. TOURISM INT'L PAGEANT WHILE THE REPRESENTATIVE TO MAJA WOULD JUST BE HANDPICKED.

HANDPICKING IS JUST A PERSONAL CHOICE OF ONLY ONE PERSON, BUT IF IT'S DONE IN THE BB. PAGEANT/CORONATION, THE SELECTION WOULD BE DONE BY THE PANEL OF JUDGES (MANY HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE!). BESIDES, HER PERFORMANCE (HOW SHE FARE IN THE CONTEST) WOULD BE WITNESSED BY THE WHOLE COUNTRY. IF THEY WOULD JUST HANDPICK THE MAJA REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE TOP 5, WHY DON'T THEY JUST GIVE THE BB. PILIPINAS-MAJA INT'L TITLE TO BE PRECISE & EXPLICIT? THEY COULD STAGE A NATIONAL SEARCH FOR IT THAT CAN BE HELD IN ANY FINE VENUE OTHER THAN THE ARANETA COLISEUM (IN A 5-STAR HOTEL BALLROOM/HALL OR FINE THEATER PERHAPS) JUST LIKE WHAT THEY DID IN 1995. THEY COULD EVEN RAISE MORE FUNDS FROM THIS PAGEANT'S PROCEEDS FOR THEIR CHARITABLE PROJECTS.

DAVE RODRIGUEZ IS TOO PRESUMPTUOUS & JUDGMENTAL IN SAYING THAT NOBODY WANTS TO BE A MS. MAJA INT'L (HE EVEN METICULOUSLY & PAINSTAKINGLY QUOTED SEVERAL PARTS OF LADYPRUDE'S POST). OF COURSE, IN ANY CONTEST, ALL CONTESTANTS WOULD AIM & ASPIRE FOR THE TOP STATUS/RANK. SINCE MISS UNIVERSE IS THE WORLD'S MOST PRESTIGIOUS CROWN & TITLE, ALL CANDIDATES WANT TO WIN IT. BUT IF THEY FAIL, IT'S JUST OK FOR THEM TO SETTLE FOR THE OTHER MAJOR TITLES (WORLD, INT'L, MAJA INT'L). IN THE BB. PAGEANT, THESE MAJOR TITLES ARE NOT RANKED AS 2ND, 3RD OR 4TH PLACER. THEY ARE ALL MAJOR WINNERS. THERE IS ONLY THE 1ST & 2ND RUNNER-UP.

IF DAVE WOULD BE IN THE ACTUAL PAGEANT OF MS. MAJA INT'L & ASK EVERY CANDIDATE IF SHE WOULD WANT TO BE A MS. MAJA INT'L, I'M SURE ALL OF THEM WOULD WANT TO & SAY A BIG YES! IF ANYONE OF THEM WOULD SAY NO, THEN SHE IS A GREAT HYPOCRITE! WHY JOINING THE CONTEST IN THE FIRST PLACE IF SHE DOESN'T WANT TO BE ONE! SHE MUST BACK OUT! SO DAVE, DON'T BE TOO JUDGMENTAL. ALL COUNTRIES (REPRESENTATIVES) WHO JOINED WANT TO BE A MISS MAJA IN'TL (AIMING TO WIN THE MAJA CROWN FOR HER COUNTRY)!

YES, IT'S TRUE, MISS UNIVERSE IS THE MOST PROMINENT GLOBAL BEAUTY PAGEANT, FOLLOWED BY MISS WORLD & MISS INTERNATIONAL.

BUT AS I SAID, MISS MAJA INTERNATIONAL IS A UNIQUE GLOBAL PAGEANT IN ITS OWN RIGHT (LIKE MISS EARTH WHICH IS ENVIRONMENT-ORIENTED). ALL OTHER PAGEANTS--MISS UNIVERSE, MISS WORLD, MISS INT'L, MISS ASIA-PACIFIC, ETC.--THEY ARE ALL JUST THE SAME & MONOTONOUS IN NATURE BECAUSE IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CONTESTS (DURING THE CONTEST PROPER/THEMSELVES), THEY ALL ARE PREOCCUPIED AND GIVE MUCH EMPHASIS TO PHYSICAL BEAUTY (OF FACE & BODY) OR JUST SUPERFICIAL VANITY. INTELLIGENCE ONLY COMES NEXT.

BUT MISS MAJA INTERNATIONAL PROMOTES & UPHOLDS NOT ONLY INTELLIGENCE & BEAUTY BUT THE UTMOST AND SUPERIOR CULTIVATION & APPRECIATION FOR WORLD ARTS & CULTURE--AS EVIDENCED BY ITS ARTISTIC, LITERARY COMPOSITIONS, PAINTINGS COMPETITIONS, ETC. DURING ITS CONTEST PROPER.

MISS MAJA INTERNATIONAL GIVES A MORE PROFOUND DEFINITION AND MEANING (SIGNIFICANCE) TO WHAT A GOOD, GLOBAL BEAUTY PAGEANT IS.

I stand corrected if Pinky Amabuyoc won in the 1968 Miss World and not 1969. So we can say that 1968 and 1971 are tied as the next most glorious year/s for Philippine Pageantry since aside from Ms. Amabuyoc, Nini Ramos was a semi-finalist in the 1968 Miss International and Baby Santiago, a famous socialite-model, won as 1968 Queen of the Pacific held in Melbourne, Australia. In 1971, Nelia Sancho won as Queen of the Pacific again for the Philippines, Vida Doria as Miss Photogenic in the 1971 Miss Universe and Evelyn Camus as 2rd runner up in the 1971 Miss International held in Long Beach, California.

I GUESS, 1994 WOULD COME IN THIRD SINCE ALL THE BB. PILIPINAS WINNERS THAT YEAR, NAMELY CHARLENE GONZALES, ALMA CONCEPCION AND CARA SUBIJANO ALL BECAME FINALIST AND SEMI FINALIST.

THERE'S NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, 1973 WAS THE MOST GLORIOUS YEAR FOR PHILIPPINE PAGEANTRY. CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING: MARGIE MORAN - 1973 MISS UNIVERSE; MARILEN OJEDA - 4TH RUNNER UP 1973 MISS INTERNATIONAL; EVANGELINE PASCUAL - 1ST RUNNER UP 1973 MISS WORLD; NANETTE PRODIGALIDAD - 1ST RUNNER UP 1973 MISS MAJA INTERNATIONAL. JUST IMAGINE, FILIPINO BEAUTY QUEENS WINNING IN ALL MAJOR BEAUTY PAGEANTS IN 1973!!!

Subject: PROPER SELECTION OF OUR OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVES IN INT'L/GLOBAL PAGEANTS

Author:
LADYPRUDE

Date Posted: 02:11:53 04/13/05 Wed

MS. STELLA MARQUEZ-ARANETA AND HER BPCI SEEM TO PLAY FAVORITES. THEY INCLUDED IN THE RECENTLY CONCLUDED BB. PILIPINAS PAGEANT (2005) THE SELECTION OF THE BB. PILIPINAS-TOURISM (TO REPRESENT OUR COUNTRY IN THE MISS TOURISM INT'L CONTEST, WE BELIEVE), BUT SHE DID NOT INCLUDE THE BB. PILIPINAS-MAJA INT'L (WHO MUST BE OUR OFFICIAL DELEGATE IN THE 2005 MISS MAJA INT'L CONTEST)!

MISS MAJA INT'L IS THE TOP GLOBAL, PRESTIGIOUS, HISPANIC-INSPIRED BEAUTY PAGEANT FOR IT IS WORLDWIDE--JOINED BY NATIONS OF ALL CONTINENTS IN THE WORLD, UNLIKE OTHER HISPANIC/LATINO-INSPIRED PAGEANTS THAT INVOLVE ONLY THE COUNTRIES OF CENTRAL & SOUTH AMERICA & SOME PARTS OF EUROPE (SPAIN, ETC.).

MS. STELLA ARANETA & HER BPCI SEEM TO CLAIM THAT THERE ARE ONLY 3 MAJOR BEAUTY PAGEANTS IN THE WORLD TODAY (MISS UNIVERSE, MISS WORLD & MISS INTERNATIONAL).

MS. ARANETA MUST REALIZE THAT, AT PRESENT, THERE ARE NOW 4 MAJOR PAGEANTS IN THE WORLD--WITH THE EMERGENCE OF MISS EARTH PAGEANT (IN 2001) WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN PARTICIPATED IN YEARLY BY MORE THAN 75 NATIONS AROUND THE GLOBE!!

THE MISS EARTH PAGEANT ATTRACTS MORE & MORE COUNTRIES TO JOIN ANNUALLY FOR IT HAS AN IMPORTANT GLOBAL CAUSE--THE PROTECTION & PRESERVATION OF OUR ENVIRONMENT, OUR BELOVED MOTHER EARTH & MOTHER NATURE!

THRU MISS EARTH, THE WORLD/MANKIND HAS BECOME MORE & MORE AWARE & HAS REALIZED THE IMPORTANCE OF CARING FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT FOR IT IS HIGH TIME & BEFORE IT BECOMES TOO LATE THAT WE ALL MUST PRESERVE FROM DETERIORATION OUR ONLY HOME & PLANET THAT WE HAVE & LIVE IN--THE EARTH!

AS TO SELECTIONS, WE, TOO, BELIEVE THAT IT IS RIGHT AND PROPER THAT OUR PHILIPPINE REPRESENTATIVES IN INT'L/GLOBAL PAGEANTS/CONTESTS SHOULD NOT BE HANDPICKED OR PERSONALLY SELECTED BY ONLY ONE PERSON. THEY MUST BE CHOSEN DURING/IN THE BB. PILIPINAS PAGEANT / CORONATION ITSELF -- SO THAT THEIR TOTAL PERSONALITY & ACTUAL PERFORMANCES (THEIR BRAINS, BEAUTIES--PHYSICAL & INNER--THEIR ATTITUDE & CHARACTER; TALENTS, ABILITIES)--HOW THEY FARE DURING THE PAGEANT ITSELF--WOULD BE JUDGED BY A PANEL OF JUDGES. THEY WOULD BE PROCLAIMED, BE CROWNED OFFICIALLY AND BE WITNESSED BY THE ENTIRE COUNTRY!!

AS TO OUR OFFICIAL MISS MAJA INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE, WE SUGGEST THAT MS. STELLA ARANETA MUST STAGE A SEPARATE, NATIONAL PAGEANT FOR THE SELECTION OF THE OFFICIAL 2005 BB. PILIPINAS-MAJA INTERNATIONAL (BEAUTY QUEEN) JUST LIKE WHAT SHE DID IN 1995 WHERE MS. TIFFANY CUNA WON THE CROWN.

BY SO DOING, MS. ARANETA & HER BPCI COULD EVEN RAISE MORE/ADDITIONAL FUNDS FROM PROCEEDS OF THE PAGEANT THAT WOULD SUPPORT THEIR PHILANTHROPIC & CHARITABLE CAUSES--TO UPLIFT THE LIVES OF THE LESS FORTUNATE MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY.

AND WHO KNOWS, THE PHILIPPINES MIGHT WIN THE PRESTIGIOUS MISS MAJA INT'L CROWN THIS YEAR!!

I just heard that Miss France gave up her crown, and Miss Sweden wont show up, and Miss Iraq was not accepted because her National Pageant was held in Kenya and not in Iraq and that has been happenning since 2003, and in the 1990's they refused Miss Iraq because the U.S & Iraq did not have Diplomatic relations. however Miss Iraq 2005 is pretty and she is half Indian. check her out at http://iraqmodels.tripod.com/

she might rate well if she competed.

I was at SM mall today and they had a rehearsal for Miss Philippines - Cebu. The winners will fly to Manila for National Competition. There were 16 lovely candidates vying for this pageant.

Ang No.16, I guess, is the younger sister of Gwen Ruais. D kasi sila gumagamit ng mic during the introduction kasi rehearsal lang yon. All I heard was Ruais kasi. Nang tinutukan to po siya ng maigi kasi siya yong pinakamatangkad at isa sa pinakabata don, I remembered Gwen sa mga photos sa Bb. Pilipinas. When I saw her mom and lola, I was so amazed kasi ang tatangkad nila. Ang No. 16 at No. 13 yong stand out doon. So, ng nagbreak po sila, I went closer sa bench kung saan don din umupo yong mga beauties. My gosh, they were speaking in French. Tataray talaga. May French blood ba si Gwen Ruais? But her sister is very bubbly and so friendly that she introduced the other candidates to her mom. She is so beautiful. A very beautiful girl. After the break, her mom smile at us at nagsasalita ng english samin. I really wanted to ask her kung anak ba niya si Gwen Ruais. Maganda kasi yong mom, parang si Melanie Marquez ang mukha. At kahit may katandaan na, she is very sexy and slim.

Sana, that was Gwen younger sister. Tomorrow, may rehearsal sila ulit. I'll be there, and this time, I'll confirm na kung siya ba yong younger sister ni Gwen.

She should be trained to get better. Pero I know, sa pageant na ito, she'll be one of the representatives sa Cebu. I like no.13 too. She is so pretty. Tower din ang height na 5'8" at 15 years old lang. Yong no.16 (sis ata ni Gwen) is 5'9". And they are all 15 years old.

Cebu will rock again on the forthcomong Miss Teen Philippines 2005.

Subject: PROPER SELECTION OF OUR OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVES IN INT'L/GLOBAL PAGEANTS

Author:
LADYPRUDE
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 02:11:01 04/13/05 Wed

ASIANS CONQUER MISS UNIVERSE 2005
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 15:20:29 04/11/05 Mon

As of 2004, India, Thailand and the Philippines had produced two MISS UNIVERSE women each. The first Asian to win the title was Japan's Akiko Kojima in 1959.

In a major racial breakthrough in 1977, Janelle Commissiong of Trinidad-Tobago became the first black woman to win the coveted Miss Universe crown. From 1951 to 2004, no Asian had ever won the MISS WORLD title except 4 women from India. Similarly, from 1960 to 2004, no Asian had ever captured the MISS INTERNATIONAL crown except 3 women from the Philippines and a Lebanese in 2002.

Kerstin Haakonson, the first MISS WORLD from Sweden (1951), did not marry a Filipino but the first MISS UNIVERSE Armi Kuusela from Finland, did. She tied the knot with Virgilio Hilario. Interestingly, Jorge Araneta, another Filipino, married the first MISS INTERNATIONAL who won in 1960 - Maria Stella Marquez Zawadzky of Colombia. Jose Faustino of the Philippines did the same to the first MISS ASIA (now MISS ASIA PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL) - Angela Filmer of Malaysia. No Filipino has courted (YET) the first MISS EARTH Catherine Svensson from Denmark who won in 2001.

Miss Philippines Evangeline Pascual was first runner-up to Marjorie Wallace from USA in the MISS WORLD 1973. Wallace was dethroned yet the humble Filipina refused to accept the vacant title.

Miriam Quiambao, a Filipina, was first runner-up to Mpule Kwelagobe from Botswana in the MISS UNIVERSE 1999, the first black African to win the title. Local media asked Quiambao if she would accept the crown had MISS UNIVERSE 1999 get impregnanted (referring to the final question during MISS UNIVERSE 1999 that if a Miss Universe get impregnated she should be dethroned), the humble Filipina's reply was she would never think it happens to Keneilwe during her reign.

MISS UNIVERSE 1993 Dayanara Torres from Puerto Rico left a Filipino boyfriend for a singer-composer Marc Anthony. Ironically, Miss Autralia 1994 Michelle Van Eimeren get married to a Filipino siger-composer Ogie Alcasid. They now have two children. Recently, Dayanara Torres and her husband get separated. Torres's ex-boyfriend get married to Miss Philippines 1994 Charlene Gonzales. They now have two (twins- a boy and a girl) children!

The first Asian woman to win as Miss Canada in 1996 was Renette Cruz, a native of Zamboanga City, Philippines. Miss Great Britain 1998 Leilani Dowding is half-Filipina, half-English. Angela Baraquio, a brainy woman of Asian descent (Filipina), nabbed the MISS AMERICA rhinestones in October 2000.

A decade has passed since MISS UNIVERSE took place on Asian soil. And almost a half decade has passed since an Asian won the title.

MISS UNIVERSE 2005: Miss Philippines
1st Runner-up: Miss Israel
2nd Runner-up: Miss Japan
3rd Runner-up: Miss Lebanon
4th Runner-up: Miss India

1984 - Catherine Jane Brummit

Q. Who is the man that you admire most and why?

A. I would say, it would be Pope Paul, because that’s a very common answer but, because he has traveled a lot and has gone to places where most of the people wouldn’t know. He tried to spread peace. He has been the first pope that has done that for a long time.

1986 - Alice Dixson

Q. What is your stand on the legality of divorce in the country, are you for or against it, and why?

A. I’m very against divorce because I think that if people get married, they should stay married, if they love each other, they shouldn’t get married in the first place.

1990 - Jennifer Pingree

Edu Manzano: Your ambition is to be a journalist.
Jennifer: Yes, that’s right.
Edu: What are some of the topics you would like to write about?
Jennifer: The topics I want to write about is about the color of the Philippines.
Edu: Which is?
Jennifer: Which is dirty white.

1991 - Ma. Patricia Betita

Apa Ongpin: If you had a daughter (and probably you will have one day), will you encourage her to join this contest?
Patty: Well, yes, because the Bb. Pilipinas is a very prestigious pageant and this is one way of bringing out the best in a Filipina. And of course, we have to be proud of our country…the Filipinas. As the song of tonight as what we sang in the opening, she’s the perfect symbol of the people, rich in heritage and love, lovely, pretty, act…what’s this…captivating, so exciting, she will surely win your heart, that’s Bb. Pilipinas.

1992 - Joanne Alivio

Apa Ongpin: Joanne is from Quezon Province, but has made her home in San Pedro, Laguna. And she’s friendly and sensitive to other people’s feelings, she takes a keen interest in theater and believes that media should be used more to reach out to the masses. She idolizes her father so much, and she said that not even Richard Gomez can compete with him. I wanna ask you a special question. If tonight, you were a judge instead of a contestant, who would you vote for, who do you think deserves to be the Bb. Pilipinas Universe?
Joanne: Not only I would choose somebody deserving for the Bb. Pilipinas Universe title, but I would based my judging, I would put my basis in a beauty not only physical, but how she communicates with people, how she reaches out for the masses, and how she can adopt to different environment and different types of people.

1993 - Sheela Mae Santarin

Apa Ongpin: Supposing you win a dating game, and you were given your choice of a date. Who among the following would you choose? Maybe you can also tell us why:
Michael Jackson
Prince Albert of Monaco
Prince Bolkiah of Brunei
Prince, the pop singer
Sheela: I think Michael Jackson. Because his personality interests me. I like interesting people. I learn a lot from them.

1994 - Alma Concepcion

Apa Ongpin: You already won a beauty contest. What is the most important lesson (I mean having joined, this is your 2nd beauty contest), having joined 2 beauty contests, what is the most important lesson that you have learned?
Alma: Ah, it is showing the best in me, not only the physical beauty, but also the internal beauty which can be seen from the heart, and also you must have faith in God.

1995 - Gladys Duenas

Richard Gomez: Tell me, what can you say about the massacre movies being produced and shown in Philippine movies, in Philippine cinema?
Gladys: Well, ah, personally I don’t think these massacre movies should be shown, because I don’t believe negative aspects of life should be focused more than those…we should be focusing more on the good things that life can offer us, and that’s how we can improve.
Richard: Ah, but don’t you think if there is good, there is bad, too?
Gladys: Yeah, ah, I’d like to quote a word from Mr. Franklin Roosevelt. He said that the test of progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much, but it is whether we add enough for those who have little. Meaning if we focus ourselves to the negative aspects of life, the more it will imbibe in our country, in our nation, in ourselves. And so I think, it is better that we focus more on the good side of life.

1996 - Yedda Marie Mendoza

Martin Nievera: She is a nurse who want to one day become a doctor. True?
Yedda: That’s true.
Martin: This is her dream. Now, what happen if you win tonight, if one of the three crowns could be on your head, and if it is, would you give up this dream or would you still pursue it, with a crown?
Yedda: Well, if I become a beauty titlist, I think I have to postpone my education of medicine. But I believe it’s going to be very fascinating and very interesting, that I am a beauty titlist and at the same time a doctor, and that’s very rare to have beauty and brain at the same time.

1997 - Susan Jane Ritter

Martin Nievera: You are one of a person who enjoys swimming, snorkeling and jet skiing. What about the water appeals to you the most? Why water? What is it about water that you like?
Susan: It’s basically I’m an adventurous person and I love the beach. We get to see new things and explore new things that you never knew existed, and especially when you go snorkeling or scuba diving.

1998 - Collette Centeno

Paolo Bediones: You are a bowler, right? Can you tell us a little more about this?
Collette: Well, actually, bowling runs in my family. My dad is an assistant coach and my granddad is a lifetime president of the British Tenpin Bowling Association. So I guess it runs in my blood.
Paolo: So what’s your highest score?
Collette: 250

1999 - Georgina Anne Sandico

Paolo Bediones: If you have a chance to choose between a suitor to marry, a suitor who could give you children but you didn’t love, or someone you love but could not give you children. Which one would you choose?
Georgina: I’d rather choose the one I really love but who can’t even give me children, coz actually like having children nowadays is so easy, coz there’s a lot of less fortunate kids out there where you could adopt them. And one more thing, it’s much better to have someone you really love.

2000 - Joanna Maria Penaloza

Tessie Lichauco: What do you consider your most important priority in life?
Joanna: Well, my most important priority in life would always be my education. Because for me, if you have the beauty on the outside and don’t have nothing inside, there’s no use for it. The education is your future. So I’m very much inclined to prioritize my education.

2001 - Maricarl Tolosa

Richard Gordon: What is the most serious problem about environment today, and what can you do about the situation?
Maricarl: Well, first of all, the serious environmental problem today is the garbage problem. Because I believe living in a clean and beautiful place will help us Filipinos to have bright look to the future.

2002 - Kristine Alzar

Cesar Montano: As Bb. Pilipinas, if your boyfriend lets you choose between marriage and your title during your reign, which one will you choose?
Kristine: Well, in the first place, I don’t think my boyfriend will propose marriage when he knows that I’m in a title…that I’m holding a Bb. Pilipinas title. But if so, that he does propose marriage to me, I will still choose the Bb. Pilipinas title, because I worked so hard for it. And this title is going to make me go ways…go a long, long way because I’ll be representing the country in another…in…I’ll be representing the country in ah…I’m sorry…in other place, yes. And marriage will come in the right place and time. So if he really love me that much, I know that he will wait.

2003 - Jhezarie Javier

Ayse Ivasiglu : How can a woman grow old gracefully?
Jhezarie: Good evening. For me, a woman can grow gracefully by letting her own spirit rise. It’s not the physical body that is important. She must make her spirit shape up and therefore that will make her grow old gracefully.

2004 - Margaret Anne Bayot

Jose Pardo: What is your greatest ambition in life, and why?
Maan: Ok, my…my ambition in life is really to become a flight attendant, as well as I want to build up my own travel agency as soon as I raised up my own money so I can have my own business. But as I grow old, my interest changes. So right now, I want to become a flight attendant as well as a travel host.

HERE'S THE TRUTH ABOUT THE RESULT OF THE BB. PILIPINAS PAGEANT FINALS BEFORE THE BOARD OF JUDGES DELIBERATED ON THE "FINAL PLACINGS":

Top Scorer: GIONNA CABRERA
Second: LARA PRECIOUS QUIGAMAN
Third: CARLENE AGUILAR
Fourth: WENDY VALDEZ
Fifth: MELANIE EDIZA

DURING THE DELIBERATION, it was decided upon that CARLENE will be proclaimed Bb. Pilipinas WORLD, while LARA PRECIOUS would get the Bb. PilipinasINTERNATIONAL title.
GIONNA is the runaway Bb. Pilipinas UNIVERSE Queen for ALL the judges.

IT MIGHT ALSO INTEREST LOCAL PAGEANT FANS, THAT DURING THE PRE-JUDGING...
Gionna Cabrera was No. 1
Wendy Valdez was No. 2
Lara Precious Quigaman was No. 3.

Hoping maenlighten na lahat yung ilan sa mga dear readers natin sa tunay na kinalabasan ng pageant night sa Bb.

This information is not only reliable but is the actual truth of the events that lead to the Declaration of the Winners.

Dito natin maiintindihan na sa pre-pageant phase pa lang, winner na talaga si Gionna. The diverse group of judges conferring with the BPCI staff have found something in Gionna that may click in the Miss Universe Pageant given a 2 month preparation time. Madame Stella Araneta was quoted as saying: "Gionna Cabrera is deserving of the Bb. Universe title, she is beauty and brains combined that would suit on the standards set in International pageants." On Carlene most of the judges were disappointed with her failure to reply to the question properly even noting her who tried to save herself by giving a rehearsed "too pageant patty" answer "for the benefit of the less fortunate brothers and sisters."

Wala sanang mamersonal, kasi ito po talaga ang katotohan.

Salamat po.
