Gionna is already a part of the Miss Universe the activities of which are always covered by int'l print & broadcast media. I think it is the other way around. That Queen Sirikit would also be put to global limelight & exposure by the Miss Universe event. Many people especially advertisers are really riding on & taking advantage of this world event for global exposures & visibility. Loveys, Thailand or Siam (its ancient name) prides itself as a country who never had to suffer the humiliation of a foreign domination. It goes without saying that its monarchy dates back and King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit are very much revered and had always commanded a deity-like degree of respect and adoration from its people. Thai people or the Siamese (I'm not referring to the feline variety) subjugate themselves voluntarily to the royal family whilst enjoying every right and privilege a free man is entitled to in todays contemporary world. The subjugation is a recognition of its rich and free past. Thailand is probably 30 lights years ahead of the Philippines in terms of economy and development. We once led you know, but that seems quite a long time ago. I am not saying that in terms of beauty pageant wins anymore. As a country. I now live in New York.
