Subject: Avatar?

I see there are some old messages about this in the archives.
I was surprised to see that Yogananda said soemthing about working through a desire of having big buidlings and perhaps something else that I am fogged out about at this time. My understanding is that the definition of Avatar is they are BORN enlightened, an incarnation of God/Goddess and (beyond having to have a somewhat normal childhood and the need to perhaps "anchor" stuff in this body or give an example), they do NOT really have to work through any thing. Perhaps colloqially people use that word to mean someone who is very holy and has a big following and Indians in their native place are VERY given to hyperbole and exaggeration, it is respecfully amusing sometimes becasue it is a cultural thing and can help with devotion, but I think people should be more careful of the term. Also I though Avatars belong to everyone basically, they are here for personkind (this board seems to be full of males) and their view is the WHOLE deal, not just a small segment of people. E.G. "Our MAs," Ammachi and Karunamayi who tour USa and World. Yes, they have specific devotee, but they care about everyone and are available to give something to everyone. Neither one (according to their biographies) had to work through stuff besides getting somewhat older. They bless everyone, give everyone mantras who wants them, even for Christians and others. Neither one had a teacher in a body and perhaps this is their role in this very Kali-Yuga time, they seem very concerned about the welfare of everyone in the world. I do not see how anyone could be their successor either, except to carry out the organizations mission.
