Ok, I'm actually getting this from Dr. Jackson, and it doesn't fully answer the question, but it should help.

Girard will always portray sacrifice as violent. He's virulently unabashed about making a firm line between ritual sacrifice and other aspects of the church, such as worship. Do I know what he considers worship, exactly? No. Ask Jackson. However, others will suggest that worship and prayer can be considered sacrificial in their own right. So, with a slight modification of Girardian thought, we can see worship as a non-violent offering to God.
Now Girard has suggested that doing so overturns the idea of sacrifice by accommodating it to this new, anti-sacrificial behavior. However, this is exactly what Girard has shown happens with Christ's offering. These familiar concepts have completely changed with the incarnation, and our old definitions have been overturned to meet a new meaning following our model, Christ.

That's a skewed version of my talk with Jackson. I'm sure he'll be able to help you more in class.

Cheers
