Marilene:

Entre outras coisas, ele afirma: "Too often this attitude (de considerar a gramática como "catalogue and exceptions") is reinforced by teachers who make remarks such as 'Oh, English is a very illogical language, English is full of irregularities'. The student is left with the impression that he is trying to understand a jigsaw puzzle where some of the pieces change shape, some pieces are missing, some pieces are broken, and, when you have got the whole picture, it is difficult to see what it is." (LEWIS, 1986, p.13, §2).
