That dragon could be anywhere in the world, and we ken well enough that we may never find our true mates. Which is why males take a harem and sort of.. try on different females. (He nibbled the little place below her ear where his clan crest was located.) When we do find our mate, our body lets us ken it well enough.. by releasing a scent that the other dragon will ken and respond to in kind. It's sort of a ritual the two become involved in. Tis said that when a pair of true mates bear whelps it is a blessed union and their offspring will be the future of the species.. stronger and more intelligent than their own parents. Tis also said that true mates will die for one another, that their union is deeper than love, that is a union of the soul. (He took a deep breath then, and turned her in his arms, letting her lean back against his arms around her. His head cocked slightly as he looked down at her.) Ye are my true mate, Sabrina.. and even if we are volatile as ye say, I feel we must at least try to make things work between us. Even if we must work day by day as ye say, I am willing to do that.. for I canna protect ye if ye arena by my side.
