Dayton seems ill-fitted for the morning news. I agree these are news readers (not “news leaders”), but if you’re reading a TelePrompTer make it seem that you are actually engaged with the audience and with the other news anchor. Dayton does neither. His voice inflections describing events (i.e. a big touchdown play) are robotic and canned as well. In the afternoon, you are giving a recap of the day, so maybe this would be a better fit for Dayton. But not by much. He seems better as a field reporter where is monotonous voice and monochrome demeanor only lasts as long as the report itself.
