Dearest Marilyn (Nikki):

I am so sorry for your loss of Louis, your cousin and a young man who performed his chosen duty with honor to the end. There is very little that can be said to help you cope with this right now. You know how I feel about this war. I believe that God has taken Louis home where he will never have to experience the suffering or sorrow of this world again.
I also feel pity for George Bush and Cheney and their fellow neocons as we will all have to face God eventually and I wouldn't want to have to answer to the Father as any of them will have to do. The pipeline around the Caspian is secure and we are building huge amounts of oil processing equipment in Iraq as well as settling in for the long haul.(Iraq has the second largest oil supply outside of Saudi Arabia and it's known as "sweet crude" because it requires less refining because it's very pure) I suggest that you watch "Fahrenheit 911" by Michael Moore if you have not yet. You can rent it at a local video store. The information in that film will both anger you and maybe help you find a way to cope-Lila Lipscomb lost her son in Iraq and she is very frank about her feeling in this film. The information concerning the behavior and motivations of the Bush Conglomerate is taken from Craig Unger's "House of Bush, House of Saud" and from "Against All Enemies" by Richard Clarke who served as the Counter Terrorism chief under seven presidents, both Republican and Democrat-that is until Bush Jr and Condi refused to give him a meeting to discuss Al-Queda until Sept 6 2001 even though he had begged and requested to speak with them from the time Bush took office. As you watch this film, ask yourself if this was a lie, why hasn't Michael Moore been sued by the Bushies? If there is untruth in this film, why would the current bunch let it pass by relatively untouched? I guess some things are better quickly put away rather than having more attention given, lest people begin to look to close at those who claim to be doing the work of the Father out of one side of their mouths, yet serve man's worst greeds in deed.

Michael was given a pen pal Soldier who is stationed in Iraq -a young man named Nathan. I kept this letter from Nathan.
Dear Michael,
Thank you for writing back to me. Things are going pretty well here, but I can't wait to come back home.
There is not much to see around here and in Iraq. Most of the country is desert and doesn't have many trees or grass. When it blows here the dust and sand goes everywhere. Sometimes it is hard to see and breathe.
There are lots of other places that would be cooler to see. I would love to go to Ireland, or Africa I think.
What will you do this summer? It must be very exciting to almost be done with school. I hope you have a great vacation!
Take care Michael,
Nathan

I pray they all come home safe and soon. I am so sorry for the sorrow that your family will feel, Marilyn. I offer a song that plays in my mind often.
Sting: "Children's Crusade".
