Weir Family,
Well we are about two weeks from an ending I have been dreading all year. As most of you know all three of my kids have come thru this studio since 1988. I have watched Mrs Allyson go from dancing her heart out in class and on stage to putting all that same heart into teaching, and running a truly wonderful family studio. I watched Nina in the same respect. Just two of many wonderful teachers that have played a big part in the direction my children have gone. Each and every teacher that my children have had the blessing of being influenced by says it all. Brandon had Carla, Pat, Janet. And through them he grew up with the confidence to perform in front of people and the funniest comedian I seen in a long time. Now to just get him back on stage. Nena went thru them all I think...Carla, Pat, Janet, Veronica, Kim, Casey, Tracy plus all the amazing choreographers Weir brought in. Now Nena has become a wife and mother with more maturity than most young ladies her age and the best mommy ever. Thanks to the influence of her dance mommies. Then there is "J" my baby boy, my little man since he could walk. He has gone thru... Janet, Pat, Alyson, Lisa, Tracy, Susanne, Nina, as well as the special choregraphers. I can say that he has trully put his entire heart and soul into dance and into Weir Dancin. I remember the first time I caught him trying to flip over on his head on our concrete drive way. I think Nena was trying to be Mrs Janet and using "J" as her student. It was then I took him right to the studio and put him in gymnastics. It is so hard for me / us to say goodbye to all of this. "J" came to the studio in 1992 with his little mulet and the heart of performer. I think he has changed hairstyles more in 15 years than any girl at the studio including all the crazy wigs used over the years. I still can not believe that "J" never ever put on a tap shoe in his life. O... Tracy tried but J stood strong. "Not for me" he said just not in my heart. That is one thing about "J" if he could not put all in had in something then he stayed away from it. Just like high school wanting him to be the mascot and a cheerleader, he tried but his heart was here at Weir. He has taken some major ribbing in the social world with losing many friends because he chose to dance instead of the traditional sports life. Weir family and friends were more than enough for him.
I watched "J" walk away from a wreck last year that should have been the end of his dream. The doctors did reply that the strength he had physically, played a huge role in surviving and recovering from this wreck. I owe Weir Dancin for this as well. I have watched my son grow into a very happy, responsible young man. No doubt this too came from all the wonderful people he grew up with at Weir.
My family and I have traveled to nationals for over 10 years now and this will be our last one. Our family vacation every sinlge year has been where the nationals were. I can not thank everyone at Weir enough for the memories. It is really funny how alot of this years songs are about goodbyes, endings, break ups, etc. The production is based on the 80's when we first came to the studio and now it is all about to end. Although "J" says he will have Tre' dancing here in about 2 years. I think he better talk that one over with Nena and Jamie first. We will see!
Well as you all watch your little angels on stage nationals this year just remember how much we are all blessed with a amazing studio and staff and just how much that they have sacrificed to bring our children where they are today. Lets not forget our wonderful children and ourselves as well... as a family we all deserve credit for what we see on that stage. I will be watching all the performers from Weir and remember the first time I saw each and everyone of them the first time. I know as I watch "J" this one last time performing with his one true family I will need a whole box on kleenex for the tears and sadness. I will be thinking of all the times he needed help to just do a simple head roll to watching him sour thru the air in amazing flips. But I will also feel all the blessings this dance family has provided over the years... Thank You, Allyson, Nina, Suzanne,Annette, Fritz, and all the staff at Weir. To all the remaining dancers may God Bless you all and keep you dancing. Remember no dream is too big and no star is too far out of reach. To all the Weir parents that helped each of my kids over the years in one way or another thank you as well.I will never forget the countless nights we sat in the lobby and at long never ending competition weekends all for one common goal....to see our children build and have their own dreams. I will miss you all next year. I will keep the whole Weir Dancin Family in my prayers for years to come. Who knows maybe we will be back in a few years with grandbabies and / or "J" coming back home to teach.
God Bless,
Brenda
