[> Subject: Same here. Can't take the girls out of school for the princess program. Wish they'd move it to the end of July or 1st week of August. This would help the teens and princesses.

[> [> Subject: LOVE it at the end of August with some states having teen & Miss at the same time gives winners more time to prepare -State OT numbers would fall if they held it in July and the princess program is not hurting.

That's great that the princess program is doing well. However last year Taylor even commented that she was missing her first week at college. Several of the teen contestants that I talked to said they were missing the first week of school. AND several of the princess moms said they'd have more girls attending from their states but they can't take them out of school. While there are still several areas that still start after Labor Day, that's not the case everywhere. Since the pageant promotes scholarship and the importance of education it's odd that they don't work on the dates to allow as many participants as possible NOT to miss school. Again that's great that things are going well, but imagine what might be if more could participate in the princess program? Things might be beyond everyone's expectations!

[> [> Subject: I replied to a smiliar post before and brought up the fact that it's not just the contestants (and princesses) that are affected. What about the siblings? I have a son that will be heading off to college at the same time. we will have to tag-team parent on this one and neither event are one that should be missed!

[> Subject: In our state worse than missing the first week of school they are missing the first 2-3 weeks of school when the work begins.
