You seem like such a great husband and father. Very cool! There is only one other who has melted my heart as you have, he didn't know you, his name was David too, but would have liked you and your character of Harm! • Dear David James Elliott -- Liz Perry, 12:30:06 07/22/08 Tue [1]
I wanted to say thank you very much for your character of "JAG" 10 years seasons. I watched the reruns at this moment on USA network, but last 10 years, I didn't have much time to watch it since though. As for Harm has a very good courage, humble, intregrity, compassionate, supportive, intelligent, and hero for the military; and you are such a wonderful actor I ever seen you in my life. My father was a military of Army/Air Force to Sergeant for radio operator in World War II, and he flew the B-24 plane; it was tough time for him of his life and he was very brave and hero and he prayed very hard for himself. (He's 86 years old now after my mother passed away 3 years ago). Also, my father enjoyed to tell the story about his past life about WWII and it was a long story. You did a awesome job with a greatly character of "Dodson Journey" was a wonderful movie I ever seen and was touching story in my heart. I haven't seen the movie "The Man Who Lost Himself" movie before with your character of Terry Evansen, a true story (I saw in screenscaps on the website)that I know you did a wonderful job. Your acting was so perfectly. I wanted to see the movie "The Man Who Lost Himself" to get a dvd soon.

Looking forward to your new projects in the future. God Bless you and all your family. The Lord being blessed with you and your family as always. Good Luck in the future as best you can. And Thank you once again very much :)

    Sincerely,

    Liz Perry

Hello David James...I just wanted to say hello. I now live in Spain, and I see your "Close To Home" series regularly. You sound just as good in Spanish.
By the way, you used to come into Kinko's in Chicago when I was there in Computer Services. I would help you out, and act as though I did not know who you were at the time. When you had to leave Chicago to go back to work, you told me you had joined the Navy and was going to be with JAG..........
It was a fun time. Thanks, and keep up the great work in "Close To Home." Will there be another season? Jack

  • Thanks for so much! -- Brewster, 01:34:09 10/29/06 Sun [1]
Thank you, David, for portraying such an honest, truth-seeking, loyal character. It was so wonderful to have a character to whom one could look up to on television. That is so rare. The integrity of your character over the years, and his growth into an even better character, was so refreshing and wonderful. I and many others hope there will be a JAG movie at some point to give this fantastic show the send-off it deserved. The last few episodes were so sad, seeing the character of Harm more off to the side...not a fitting tribute to the way you faithfully portrayed him for 10 years! You were the anchor for the show, and I am so glad it did not go on without you! That would have been even sadder. I will enjoy the DVDs and hope we will have all the seasons so we can enjoy the prime years of JAG! Thank you again.

JAG è terminato, ma tu resterai Harm per sempre e, per sempre, rimarrai nei nostri cuori.

    Tantissimi Auguri!!!

  • Thank you, David..... -- Jenni (in OZ), 02:21:45 03/28/06 Tue [1]
Even though we STILL haven't seen Season 10 here (unbelievable, isn't it!), I was lucky enough to be able to download (yeah, ok, probably illegally, but hey, a girl's gotta do what... etc.) the last episode, so I feel entitled to say a heartfelt goodbye.

Thank you so much for 9 + 1/23 wonderful years. You truly brought Harm to life, you made him our ideal man. (Note, that's 'ideal', not 'perfect'... no-one wants perfect...)

The JAG blend of drama, angst, humour and slapstick, was and still is unique on TV and I sorely miss it.

So good luck with all your future endeavours, I'll certainly be looking out for your name above titles, and I wish for the very best of everything for you and your family, but most of all..... thank you.

    Jenni.

    Dear David,
Thank you for your character of Harmom Rabb Jr. I have loved the show ever since I first saw it. I love the strongness of Harm and his obvious love for "Mac" and she for him. I am glad they finally got it right in the end, although I would have liked most of the show to be about them.

My husband things I an infatuated with you. I have watched
a lot of shows and movies you have done. I still would like to get ahold of more. I am very excited about your Lifetime movie THe STRANGER I MARRIED. I think they should left the name as it was originally was. I an going to tape it, so I can watch it over and over again like your other, made for TV movies and other in which you had small parts in. I think that you are a wonderful director, also. Especially the JAG ones you directed. I would like to hear you sing and play your guitar more. Have you ever thought of making a CD of songs. I think ,with all your fans, it ould be a great seller, you could always sell on the net. ( Just a suggestion)

Good luck in your future and I hope that we will see you often on the little or big screen. I know that making a movie and a tv show is hard on you and your family, but I really would like seeing you in more things, even your wife Nanci. I,also,am glad you do your charity activities. I would like to meet you in person. Would you ever consider coming to Michigan sometime ( the Capital is Lansing< which would be really nice, since it is near the middle of the state)? You have a lot of fans here.

    Good luck and God bless.
Your grateful and long lasting fan

  • Adieu Harm... -- Enila, 10:15:12 11/16/05 Wed [1]
It is difficult to convey in words the loss that so many of us felt when we learned that you would no longer be part of our lives every Friday evening. As Harm, you enchanted us and we lived "your" emotions along with you. I do not think you realize how very much you captured our hearts and how deeply we care about you as a person - not only as an actor. I hope that life will bring you much joy, happiness, health and success. Don't forget us, though, even though we are 'faceless'. For us, you are family.

Adieu mon beau David...jusqu'au moment où tu nous reviendras à nouveau sur le grand/petit écran. Bisous...Enila.

  • That was it -- Tom, 12:51:06 11/13/05 Sun [1]
Just saw the last episode of JAG and felt the need to thank DJE for making my days a little brighter. I was quite amazed hearing that JAG was to be cancelled. We in Europe always lag behind when it comes to American TV shows, you know. Even though I agree with some of the critics that the 9th season was not one of the strongest, I also know that the show often was able to give my day a little sparkle and I'm very sorry to have to miss it. So I have a feminine side ;-)

Anyhow, getting upset about it does not help, although it seems that all the shows I like are getting cancelled and what comes in return are "reality shows"... I do not want reality on TV, I want fantasy.

That said, I wish to thank David for giving me that fantasy. For the humor and wicketness with which he portrait Harm.

    Tom

Mr. Elliott: Since you left Jag and it was canceled theres nothing decent to watch on TV. I wonder if you realize how many people you've touched with that show. You played Harm with a sense of humor, decency, and a moral compass which is sorely lacking in most shows. Hurry back to ABC, you are missed. Margaret

  • Good luck for the ironman -- Armywife, 12:40:41 10/07/05 Fri [1]
    Hello David,
Just wanted to wish you good luck and succesful completion of the ironman triathlon. I am a 50yr old wannabe runner training for my first marathon for a fundraiser next January (disgustingly slow at 12min/mile at this point). I also participated in my first ever sprint triathlon last summer here in my hometown. So, I have a tiny bit of an idea of what it takes (my legs did not want to run after getting off that bike). The combination of three really long and strenous events in the ironman sounds daunting to me at this point. I can't even imagine running a marathon after riding a bike for over 100 miles - wow. So, good luck and godspeed on that. Hope you finish in good shape injury free.
I am also looking forward to your new acating endeavors.

    Barbara
(grandma, mother of seven, recently widowed and new runner - how is that for a crazy bio).

Enjoyed JAG enormously. It's almost real and easy to believe the JAG team is really out there somewhere. Enjoyed and admired the way you and your co-actors could 'say' and express so much besides the real spoken words. There was so much said between the lines. All the best in your change of career. Will miss you and all the JAG team members!

    Mr. Elliott,

Yes you are eye candy...But a very good actor. We have been allowed to see you tweak your role and your skills to grow into a very good actor, whose use of voice and expressions help us, find the character believable. And unfortunately like Clark Gable, you are so good at assuming another character, others believe it is you that is being portrayed and your peers rarely acknowledge you.

I also what to tell you that I find it very refreshing to hear that in tinsel town there is actually an actor who is a family man. Others all spout the words, but are always in the press spouting them for publicity. It is nice to know that some do take their words seriously!

Good luck - and best wishes in your new projects - I am sure you will be successful!

Since the first show, I have faithfully watched every episode for 10 years. For the last 5, my daughter & I watched it together. An hour every week when we sat & shared the triumph of spirit, honor, and integrity that you embodied as Harmon Rabb. A hero 2 generations could admire and with whom we could fall a little bit in love. (Frankly, both of us were wildly jealous of Mac!) Thank you for giving us that hero with such a convincing portrayal. We will miss Harm but will continue to look for you in whatever projects you undertake.

May your endeavors find success and your life be filled with the kind of joy you brought to us for the last 10 years.

  • Dear Mr. Elliott, -- LP, 13:33:54 04/10/05 Sun [1]
I'd like to express my sincere gratitude for your portrayal of Harmon Rabb, Jr. over the past ten years. You embodied Harm's firm dignity, fierce loyalty, tender compassion, genuine kindness, and playful humor in a superb manner, helping to create and develop a character who will forever hold a warm place in my heart.

Perhaps the most distinctive and unique aspect of Harm's personality was the fact that he believed in what he did. He never judged people, and he held himself to a high personal standard. Young viewers were able to look up to Harm as a role model, someone with solid morals whom they could emulate. Adult fans admire him as a person with strong character traits that they'd like to have themselves. In today's world, that type of example is hard to come by. Thank you for helping to show us what a person can become, if only his/her mind is set to it.

I wish you the best of luck in your upcoming projects with ABC. May God continue to bless you, your family, and your work.

  • A Heartfelt Thanks -- Robin aka Dancer, 12:12:02 04/09/05 Sat [1]
    Dear David,

Ten years of “JAG.” What can I say? How can I begin to tell you what you’ve meant to me these last ten years? One night, I sat down to watch a tv show and fell in love at the sight of a wisp of hair gently fluttering across the forehead of an anxious, young lieutenant as he stood on the deck of an aircraft carrier. He was daring and dashing and out to solve a mystery with just enough passion to make him interesting. And I was interested. Through 200+ episodes, I have followed him through the world of the U.S. military and its laws – good and bad – through war and peace. It was all foreign country to me, but he was my guide and my friend. I showed up for the young lieutenant, but I stayed for the man that young lieutenant became.

Through your portrayal of Harmon Rabb, you’ve given us a portrait of a modern man who still believes certain values are timeless, and yet so often struggles with his own humanity. He cares about things in a way that makes him want to do something about them. That’s a rare commodity. I feel I’ve gotten to know him pretty well over the years, and perhaps a bit of you along with him. I thank you for that. I have so many wonderful memories of Harm, and of you, that I will cherish for a lifetime.

    Thank you.

I look forward to seeing you in your next project and hope to see you soon.

    Love,

    Robin

I wanted to send my thanks along with all the rest. I have been a dependent of the Navy for a long time (first parents, then husband). My father use to say there was no such thing as an officier and a gentleman, it was only a movie. I don't remember exactly when I started watching JAG, but I can tell you that with your performance as Harmon Rabb, Jr. you made me believe that my dad was wrong--There is at least one officier and a gentleman, even if it is TV. You wore the uniform well!! Thank you for 10 years of entertainment!

It's hard to imagine that so many years have gone by since I was captivated by the chemistry between 2 incredibly gorgeous looking actors on TV. That was my introduction to you, (Catherine Bell) and to JAG. Since then, I have been so absorbed by your performances and with this show that it's been difficult accepting that it is all coming to an end.

Although JAG & Harmon Rabb Jr. will be signing off in a few more weeks, they will forever be kept in my heart and in my memories. Thank you so much for all these years of dedication to my favorite show and for your amazing acting ability.

It's a great relief to know that we will be seeing you again, this time on the ABC Network. I look forward to all your future projects.

Wishing you and your family much love, health, and happiness. I will be a fan for all eternity.

    Best of luck always!

Greetings that's meant to say thank you and a wish for all the best always.

It will be years of resolution to forgive TPTB in Jag for taking you and Mac for granted. You have more than chemistry but a story that resonates among viewers. You're both the watercooler buzz and it wouldnt hurt for some Harm and Mac hot action that will make you guys smile again.
My hopes for a feel good all high Jag conclusion especially Harm and Mac together and happy always. Dont sell yourself short too with all those tasteless shows even you're more than a star than Desperate Housewives and last thing you need is to get caught on all those catfights.
This is real hard for me because Ive never been this attached to a TV character the way Harm and Mac did to me.

A happy dignified exit for Harm and happy memories of Harm and Mac makes this sad time easier to bear. My family will support your ABC home but it depends on what your show will be. • The Truth Is Everything -- Sharon Boyd-Davis, 22:14:45 03/29/05 Tue [1]
One day while talking to my mother on the phone, I asked her what she was watching on t.v. that distracted her from my conversation. Her reply was 'JAG'. Curious to find out what could hold her attention so tightly, I changed my t.v. station to 'JAG'. The next thing I knew, I was hooked, and my long distant phone bill for that night was outrageous. I should have hung up and called back after the show. That was three years ago.

After my introduction to 'JAG' I have not missed an episode. I also have taped all the prior episodes with the thanks to the USA network.

What captured and held my presence for so long? It was a combination of things. First, the wonderful flow between characters. The family like atmosphere, yet never losing sight of military ranks. It is a show that my entire family can watch. It promotes honesty, integrity, hard work, respect, and no matter who wins or loses, "the truth is everything." Second, the military law aspect and an inside look at our military. Granted it is made for t.v. action and drama, but it portrays our military in an accurate and positive manner. It helps spread patriotism and respect for our fighting men and women. Third, Harm and Mac. One of the greatest love stories ever put to screen. The chemistry between Harm and Mac is so believable, I almost forget it isn't real. Two lost souls have become soul mates. They fight like siblings, they protect each other, they defend each other, they confide in each other like best friends, and they one with each other. They each bring out the best in each other, yet sometimes they bring out the worst. They are two pieces of a whole, living up to their potential only because the other pushing them. How can one survive without the other. They will be lost and wondering around in a daze. They make each other's lives complete whether they become a couple or just stay friends.

All of those are why audiences are entranced with the show. Harm is the knight in shining armour (F14) and Mac is the damsel who carries a gun (and a pretty good right hook).

You will be sorely missed. I have watched your performance from playboy, flyboy, lawyer, to a mature, flyboy, adult and have loved every minute. You have a wonderful smile and honest eyes. May the future bring you many more wonderful adventures and God's blessing for your family.

Best of luck. You're a very talented actor and admirable man. Thanks for the 10 years of honorable service.

    Sharon

    Mr. Elliot,
I can hardly wait to see what your next project will be. I don't think you have any idea just how large your fan base is.
It is extremely difficult to watch these last few episodes of JAG, so I have chosen not to do so. Losing one of a fantasy family is hard.
I do watch the boards to see what is happening and hope to find out exactly what your next project is as soon as possible.
JAG had a great run. The new JAG is just that, the new JAG. The substance that attracted me to the show is diminishing rapidly. Your presence is already being missed.

    Dear Mr. Elliott:

I just wanted to write and say thank you for all of the work you have done with JAG during the last ten years. You have made me laugh, and brought me to tears. I am particularly grateful for the sensitivity with which you played a Naval officer, showing Harm as fully human, and yet as an ideal to be reached for. Few actors could maintain that balance for so long.

My eldest son is now a United States Marine studying at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey. I believe that you played some part in forming the ideal of the kind of Marine he would like to be. He was greatly distressed at the news that your career with JAG is coming to an end.

I hope that your time with the cast and crew you have worked with for so long ends well. You have shown great character off-screen stage as well as on during the last few months. I hope that you can continue to find roles of quality showing traits our fellow citizens can be proud to emulate.

Thank you for sharing your gifts and talents – and your wife’s! – with us. While I am saddened for the end of this fine production, I eagerly look forward to following your new career with ABC, both in front of and behind the camera. I believe that you still have many more layers of the onion to unpeel.

No one I've ever seen looks as good in a uniform as you do...and I've seen more than my share.

Good luck with your new affiliation with ABC! I will be watching for you!!

Best wishes and continued success from one of your biggest fans!!!!! Thanks again for your fine performance and accurate portrayal on "JAG".

    So long...BUT NEVER GOOD-BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks to David from France -- Petit, 04:19:04 03/23/05 Wed [1]
    Thank you David,

We already know you’re going to leave the JAG team.

Just a few words from a French little fans group to tell you how you and Harm will miss us!

We really hope to see you again on the screen or in a TV show!

    Letter to “Harm”
    Writing to a character, ridiculous!?

Harm, since the beginning of JAG, you first drew my interest!

Harm, you entered my home ten years ago and since then, you’ve been a faithful companion to me

Harm, should I tell you how my family used to look at me when I had a ‘rendez-vous’ with you, day after day or weekly? I was longing for it the day off!

Harm, you’re a character who became real to me thanks to your interpreter, David James Elliott; I do know that behind you, there are a creator, screenwriters, directors… I do know that Harm isn’t David and David absolutely not Harm, but I have to confess that I felt for both of you the same rushes of affection, the same attraction!

Harm, thanks for all the ever-renewed happiness you gave to me and if I’m still faithful to you, Harm, it’s because you’ve became “someone” for me!…

Harm, what I want the most is to never loose you (Lifeline 6.22)

David, what I want the most is to never loose you!

Thinking about it, I feel so sad!

    Ridiculous? I assume it!

Harm and David for all the hours of dream and joy, thanks!

David, good luck to you, best wishes to you and family
and hope to see you soon!

  • Dear David, -- Erinne (JAG girl from HB), 20:13:38 03/22/05 Tue [1]
This is my 2nd letter but i want to finish what i started in the first. I am 16 and have watched JAG since i was in 4th grade.(it's 4th season) I have been a faithful viewer and loved every minute of it! Yea, so what if my friends think im crazy, and call me names! You are an amazingly talented and super handsome man, period. No matter what age. I love all the work you do because unlike so actors out there, you put passion and fire into everything you do! You also care about your fans. I wrote to you a fews years ago and recieved a signed picture back, i was the happiest girl on the planet!

JAG carried me through many things in my life! See i was born a premi. I was 2.5 pounds when i was born on Sept. 20, 1988. i wasn't expected to live, and if i did my quality of life shouldn't have been very good. After 3 months in the hospital and 5 eye surgeries i was released to a happy family. Most of my young life was lived in and out of docters offices. I have been very healthy for a long time and the the only real effects of my early birth is that i am blinded in my right eye and wear glasses. This year i was diagnosed with hydrocyphalis. I had brain surgery in November (a shunt was placed in my brain to drain fluid) and recovered fully, only to have knee surgery in Decemeber. Through most of my young life JAG has been there for me. If i couldn't rely on anything else i could rely on JAG. You smiling face and the upbeat theme song have always been there, for as long as i can remember.

To think that you will be gone breaks my heart! I have never been one to burn bridges but i may have to with JAG. After 10 years i'm not sure i can watch next season without you. Please know you will be truely missed, and i wish you the best on ABC. I will be watching.

And remember 'Old soldiers never die' and your amazing character of Harm will forever live on in my heart and mind!

Fair Winds and Following Seas (Love),
    Erinne

I just want to take the opportunity to thank you for bringing such a wonderful character to life. I have enjoyed watching JAG from inception, and will truly miss my Friday night ritual. Even if the show continues for an additional season, without your character there is no JAG. We are lucky enough, in Toronto, to see JAG 3 times a day, during the week, and 5 times in total on Friday. So you can say I get my JAG fix. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours, and look forward to viewing the new characters to bring to life on ABC. Many years of coninued success.

Thank you for the countless hours of entertainment your extraordinary talent, hard work and dedication in bringing a truly memorable character to life provided. I first tuned in to see Trisha Yearwood, but it was "Harm" and "Mac" that hooked me and USA that gave me the opportunity to catch up on the episodes I'd missed up to that point. Like many others, I believe that without Harm, there is no JAG. I wish you and your family all the best and look forward to seeing you on ABC.

    Dear Sir,

As a long-time fan of JAG, it’s difficult to describe how much I’m going to miss the character of Harm. Thanks to your skillful portrayal, I feel as though I’ve come to know him personally. When Harm was successful in his pursuit of the truth, I cheered with him. When he was on the receiving end of unfair and sometimes even cruel treatment, I ached for him. And when his heart was broken, as when he realized his father was dead, I cried with him.

Thank you for 10 wonderfully entertaining years. You made it all seem so effortless. I wish you every success.

I also thank you because you are a special part of our lives. Harm brought joy to our living rooms and screens.
Its really the characters you and Mac that made so many absolutely riveted to our TV sets. Im even a nonshipper but with the series concluding its only right and deserving that Harm and Mac are allowed to be in love and happy together. They should be in a happy place after all the angst and obstacles TPTB put them through. Fans want them so much and they are the heart and soul of Jag and Harm and Mac have so much history on this show.
With them happy forever its less painful saying goodbye to Jag and looking forward visiting them again in reruns and dvd.
    You will be missed...

Thank you for your portrayal of an honest, trustworthy, dedicated, loyal, and patriotic officer of the United States Navy. As a history teacher, I have used incidents from JAG in teaching. The writers may be responsible for the story, but it was your performances that made their efforts reach fruition. JAG exemplified military justice and character education at the same time. You have given ten years of enjoyment to JAG fans. You can be very proud of that. Not many actors get the opportunity to portray a character for that length of time. I sincerely wish you continued success in your endeavors; but you will be missed.

Thank you for ten years of portraying an honorable, decent, likable character so well on JAG. You are an eminently talented and watchable actor; your portrayal of Harmon Rabb, Jr. has been delightful to watch this past decade. Keeping a show on the air with the ratings JAG has commanded, takes a team effort; you are an integral part of that team.

I am deeply disturbed at the changes to the show, but I wish you all the best as you cross over to ABC and new challenges. I will await your next project with anticipation. (I can’t help but imagine a “Harm/Webb” encounter on “Desperate Housewives!”) My thanks also to your wife and family for having shared you with us, the fans, for so many years. My uncle was a real MIA in 'Nam. My dad flew Hueys there. For much of my life he couldn't/wouldn't talk about it. When Harm Rabb came into our living room, that changed. Not right away - over several years he slowly opened up. I got to know him in ways that would not have happened without JAG's pilot/lawyer. I'm not a sentimental guy, but my wife told me about this message board, and I wanted to let you know how much your work as Harm meant to this family. Dad, a young 57, died suddenly of a stroke last year. It's hard enough getting used to his being gone.
One thing I learned through all this, is to acknowledge meaningful things and people in your life. Don't assume they know how you feel. So, here's to you. Thanks for being the bridge for us. Don't think of the role as having been a job. It was a mission. And it was successful.
I and my family wish you all the best in your future.

I want to say thank you for bring JAG into our living rooms for the past 10 years. My husband and I have been watching since season 1, and the show has meant a lot to us. When JAG first started we were newlyweds, and my husband had just gotten back from duty overseas in the USMC. I didn't know that much about how the military worked, so we would tune in to JAG and he would use the show to point things out to me. I learned so much about the Marine Corp and the military in general through JAG, and now our children watch. My oldest son loves the flying sequences and my daughter likes the ships. My youngest son isn't old enough to really watch just yet, but he likes the opening music. I'm sure he'll be a fan in due time. Thank you again for being a part of this show, and for showing our military with the respect and class it deserves. JAG has been such a major part of our family and we hate to see you go. Best of luck in everything you do, and thanks again for the memories!

From my family and I, you have been a staple in our TV watching for the past 10 years. You honesty and integrity laden portrayal of a man with an ultimate sense of duty and honor to his country and fellow man has been admirable. In these days and times, whether real or not, role models can be searched for and found few places. My thanks to you for that emphasis, whether you realized it or not. Even my 8 year old daughter, who watches JAG with her Dad, talks of you and remembers her grandfather, a veteran pilot of WWII and fondly of my best friend, currently a Marine 1st Seargent, stationed in Iraq. Good luck and godspeed on your next journey in life. May it fill you and your family with as much joy and prosperity as you deserve and as much as you have given all of us. For it is extremly hard for a long running show, such as this one, to withstand the leaving of a main character so late in the series; however, thank you so much for commiting to the show as you have. It is a joy to watch you playing Harm. Good luck with future projects, whether the are in television or else where.

With thanks to your character that is so admired and brought smiles and inspiration to so many.
Despite all the courtroom and jet adventures its always Harm and Mac that made me stay loyal to this show.
Without them Im leaving too. Its too bad they were not rewarding and fulfilling to us about Harm and Mac happily ever after. I wish you good health and a good life.
    Love always~~~~~ Corey

Thanks a whole bunch for 10 years of picking up words off paper and bringing the character of Harmon Rabb Jr. alive, loved, and family friendly. You'll be greatly missed! Without "Harm", JAG is losing its soul and being dumbed down beyond recognition. Blessings for a bright and wonderful future to you and your family.

Hey David, you are totally the best, and well i will miss you so much on the show, i totally don't approve of the new dude with Mac, but i'm not going to watch JAG if there is another season, unless it is all Mac scenes, your character was the best and well your the only reason why i watched the show you made it the best ever, on the show no one can compare with you and who Mac is the best with and that is you, well i wish you and your family many blessings throughout your life and career. You've done the best work on the show, better then any of the other characters, your character has a great unique quality that no one can even can compare or come close to, well if your not on JAG, then JAG is no more for me (it's so boring without you on it, you just liven the show for everybody).

    love your fan, melissa maddux!!

First of all, I just want to say that I am extremely sad/disappointed that you are leaving the show after this season. You will be missed by all. I loved your portrayal of Harmon Rabb, Jr. YOU are the reason I got hooked on JAG four years ago. [Unfortuntely, I was not there since the beginning. If I was, I would have been 7 years old.] With you being gone, I don't know if I will continue to watch the show. It wouldn't be the same without you. And I wouldn't be able to stand the scenes with Mac and the new guy together, almost being all lovey-dovey. yUck! LOL. It should be Harm and Mac tOgether.

Anyways, Mr. Elliot, thank you for the past ten years. You did an amazing job. Good luck on whatever it is you're going to be doing next. pEaCE!

You have given such a sensitive and moving picture of Harmon Rabb jr. and the evolution of his character. I feel as if I had been acquainted with both of you for years, and you have been an inspiration through a trying period of my life. In a way the change is a good thing because you have so much to contribute and this will give you more time for it. As a lifelong runner I can hardly understand how you have the self-discipline to have done so much. Dodsons Journey was as good a film as I have seen in many years. I watch it repeatedly and trust you will do more. Thanks again Truman R.

JAG has been much more than a television show; it's enabled me to make friends not only across the country, but around the world as well.

The passion you used to bring him to life made him someone I laughed and cried with. I've cheered him on and held my breath for the outcome.

I will miss his presence in my home come the end of the season, but I will gladly follow you to ABC to see what you do there.

The relationship between Harm and Mac always struck me as having a spiritual nature to it. A love we endlessly try to reach but never quite make, a metaphor of our search for God. That "thought" got me through some rough times.

    Dear David,

Thank you for a wonderful run. Others may have written the words but you brought Commander Harmon Rabb to life and made him real. I hope you realize what a positive effect you have had on JAG fans. You will be missed – JAG will not be the same without you. You should be commended for the way you have handled your departure from JAG - just as Harm would – with class and dignity.

I look forward to watching your future projects both in front and behind the camera. Have you ever thought about returning to your roots and doing a season at the Stratford or Shaw Festivals? I would love to see you perform on the Festival Theater stage. No matter what project you choose I am sure it will be a success.

Wishing you and your family a future filled with happiness and peace.

I have been a Jag fan since it first aired. I lost track for a while but soon reconnected with what has been my favortie TV show now for about 7 years. Your character has been talked discussed for many years and I am sure that it will continue that way. But our beloved "Harm" could never have been as celebrated as he is now if someone else portrayed him. So thank for the many years, the many hours, and the many tapes that I, and many that I know, have gone through. I continue to watch for your latest acting projects and hope you do well in them. JAG will not be the same without you. I personally hope to see you on TV very soon, perphaps another series ( ALIAS, *looks hopefully*). Any job you choose to take will most definately benefit from your presence whether your in front of or behind the camera.

Grazie per il personaggio di Harmon Rabb jr, eroe sincero, dal sorriso favoloso e di grande integrità morale, che certe cose non le farebbe mai.

  • To DJE - -- Amy from Montana (tailhooked), 14:05:07 03/17/05 Thu [1]
In an era of the military being portrayed as either sinister or inept, we had JAG. In an era of the anti-hero, we had Harmon Rabb, Jr. Our idealism ends with Harm's departure. We know the US military has always had heroes, but Harm was our first experience of watching one for ten years. JAG has been a show that we could watch with our children, never worrying about truth being compromised or belittled.

As a person who has never been hooked on another show, I thank you as a true fanatical fan with hundreds of videotaped episodes and a notebook filled with episode synopses. Harmon Rabb Jr. rates as an unforgettable television character akin to Sheriff Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke. While I salute the creator of the character, you were the one who brought him to life and who sustained that life. I thank you for every time you insisted that Harm be kept in character and for every difficult hour you spent on the set. I'm sure that as much as you must have loved the character and the show, there were times when it was work, and unpleasant work at that. It never came through on screen, so I thank you for your professionalism. I often chuckle that it's not a coincidence when some of the episodes fans cite as the best JAG episodes were episodes that you directed. Your regard for the show and its characters has come through in your direction and in every interview you've done.

I wish you and your family the best of luck at ABC. I hope some creative genius can conjur up a character for me to love as much as I have loved Harm. Please tell your wife that I still insist that JAG lost some of its edge when they killed Singer. Singer, as portrayed by Nanci Chambers, has to be one of the great antagonists of all time.

Once again, thank you for "Harm" the aviator/lawyer/aviator/lawyer/CIA agent/crop duster/lawyer who put duty and honor before pleasure (shucks!)but who gave fans a great ten year ride.

Thank you so much for all that you've done to bring Harmon Rabb, Jr to life as someone I can respect and enjoy watching on TV. I watch other shows besides JAG, but they don't keep me glued to the set, on the edge of my couch, involved in the characters' lives, and always wanting more. JAG does, and for me, the reason it does is you.

DJE Thank you for 10 absolutely amazing years. It was through your ability and talent that a two dimensional character leapt off the screen and became such an integral part of our lives, you brought him to life. Harmon Rabb is the perfect example of what an officer and a gentleman should aspire to. Someone for whom words like honor, integrity, duty, loyalty, principles, morals, respect, courage, dignity, ethics, and commitment aren’t inconsequential things to be laid aside when inconvenient but to be embraced and lived every day of their lives. I know he was and will continue to be a role model for me and many other fans, just as you are and will continue to be.

Harmon Rabb is JAG. He is the heart, soul, and life of JAG. Just as you are the heart, soul, and life of JAG. With out Harmon Rabb and you, JAG is left with a gaping hole where its heart should be. I will be truly saddened when you leave at the end of this season. Your ability to express pages of dialog with a simple facial expression is a testament to your skill as an actor.

I am thrilled for you and your ABC/Touchstone deal. I know you will bring the same level of dedication, talent and skill to whatever new projects you take on as you have all your previous projects. I can’t wait to see you in your next project. I will continue to follow your career with great interest and enjoyment.

Thank's so much for 10 years great memories!

The heroic Naval officer & the military theme of the show is what first caught my eye back in the season previews prior to the 1995-96 TV season. But your portrayal of Harm brought that character to life and made me continue to watch because of his morals, character & search for the truth. It has been refreshing to see a character young men & women could respect & look up to.

Having a sister and two nephews currently serving in the military, a brother-in-law who is retired military and another sister who had served; seeing the military portrayed in a very positive light is important to me and that was what JAG did, especially Harm.

Again Thank-you, & much happiness be with you & your family.

Looking forward to your next endeavors.

6 years ago, when the Buffalo Sabres were playing a late game on a Tuesday, I was channel surfing and found a handsone Navy Lt. Commander teasing a Marine Major about a court case. It held my attention and I became a fanatic. I found the early seasons on the USA network and have all of the episodes on tape. During the long winters here in western New York, a JAG tape goes in when I get home from work and I walk on my treadmill while I watch Harm fight for the truth, tease Mac and mentor Bud. Thank you very much for over 200 enjoyable episodes of television. Much success in what you choose to do next.
