Dear Mr. Elliott, I haven't written to an actor since I asked Gene Autry for an autograped picture, but I had to write you to express my appreciation of what you have given me in the past 10 years. You developed a character into someone we welcomed into our homes and were proud to have representing our country. Your talent took a fictional person and made him into someone that showed integrity, honor, loyalty and humor. You have displayed those same values in your life and to your family. Our best wishes to your family in the future.

  • Thank You David -- Sharon, 20:41:34 03/04/05 Fri [1]
I just want to add my thanks to the many you've already received for a memorable 10 years as our Commander Harmon Rabb, Jr. I marveled at Harm's skill and bravery. I admired Harm's positively unrelenting pursuit of truth. Harm's boyish, friendly grin always warmed my heart. You brought this all to life every week: an honest-to-goodness modern day hero! We don't see many of those on TV these days. You can be very proud that you gave to our youth a positive role model.

Change isn't easy and I will miss you so much on JAG. However, I eagerly anticipate a new beginning for you on ABC. I'll be watching! God Bless You and your wonderful family.

  • Heartfelt Thanks -- JenE., 20:41:10 03/04/05 Fri [1]
It is with pride and sadness that I thank you for your many years of hard work building JAG into what it was capable of being.

The many small things you added to Harm were what made so many of his moments shine, held the belief in the JAG family together, and have made him an unforgettable character to me and so many others. That is no small accomplishment, and I know that is only a portion of what you are capable of.

I wish you much success with your new ventures and, more importantly, much vacation time in the Bahamas with natural fabrics!
Enjoy it all – best wishes and thanks from Jen in Ajax, Ontario.

  • Thank you David. -- Shell, 20:32:39 03/04/05 Fri [1]
You breathed life into a fictional hero that over the years has inspired many. No one could have done it so well. My interest in JAG led me to the internet where I found the online fan community. I didn't expect to find wonderful people who would become real friends. We have shared so much over the past years and supported each other with the common thread of JAG always keeping us together. So thank you for making Harm the kind of hero that brought so many friends together to laugh and discuss and become a cyber- family. For most fans Harm is JAG and with no Harm there is no JAG. I wish you luck in your career and happiness for you and your lovely family.

There are so many people that are more eloquent than me and can convey their feelings better than I. I don't watch alot of main stream television, but I have watched JAG every Tuesday and Friday night since season one. The reason I watched was you. The character "you" created has been in my living room so often, that my husband said he was going to start charging you rent.
The character may be written by writers, but only you could have brought that character to life. You made Harmon Rabb who he was, not the writers nor the creator. It was your skills as an actor, never think otherwise. When I think of JAG, I think of you and that fantastic smile. JAG ends for me at the end of season ten. JAG = Harmon Raab. There is no JAG without you.
Thank you for ten years of entertainment. I wish you the best and am looking forward to your new association with ABC.
Wishing you and yours the best of everything.

Many people have expressed this sentiment far more eloquently than I could hope to do, so just let me say a simple "thanks" for your years on JAG. Your portrayal of Harmon Rabb has not only brought countless hours of entertainment to your fans, but has helped inspire online communities and friendships that will last long after JAG is no longer on the air. That's an impressive accomplishment! Thank you again, and we look forward to your future projects.

When I heard the news you were moving on from JAG I was selfish and felt sorry for myself. You made first my Tuesdays and then Fridays "have to be home for JAG" nights. Friends knew not to call--family soon joined me in watching you bring the character of Harmon Rabb to life. As a Navy bean I enjoyed all aspects of the military life as portrayed by you and the rest of the cast. I wish you and yours only the best in future endeavors, and look forward to hopefully seeing you in the future on either my TV screen or the larger one at the movies. Bon Voyage!

  • Dear David, -- Heather K, Lynchburg VA, 11:09:54 03/04/05 Fri [1]

What a difference a decade makes. Ten years ago, the military was ignored by scripted prime-time television. Ten years ago, there were no television characters that portrayed the military in a positive light. Ten years ago, there was no Harmon Rabb, Jr. Then one day, you stepped into Harm's shoes and gave him life, and our cultural landscape was forever altered for the good.

An Officer and a Gentleman, indeed, Harm embodies all the best of the Navy, and all of our armed services. Commitment to Duty, Honor, Country, and Truth - these qualities are in short supply in pop culture, yet Harm brought them to the screen every week with heartfelt honesty. We identify with Harm - his struggles and joys - and we see in him a role model we can proudly point out to our children.

Harm would not have been the same person if it were not for you, David. The basic goodness in your heart shines in Harm's eyes, and I am proud to be a fan both of you and the great character you developed over the years. Over those years I laughed, cried, worried and cheered with and for Harm as he sought the Truth and helped those in need. So it is with bittersweet emotion that I write this thank you message. I have loved watching Harm/JAG for 10 years, and am so sad to know he will no longer make his weekly visits to my living room.

During this change in your career, I hope you will remember how much your fans love you and wish you well. And wherever you turn up on my tv dial, I'll be tuning in.

Fair winds and following seas as you "unceasingly strive upward." God Bless.

Thank-you for 10 years of true devotion and professionalism. Your thoughtful and talented portrayal of Harmon Rabb,Jr. brought much laughter, tears and joy to my life. I appreciate all the long days and personal sacrifices you endured to make JAG its best. In this day and age, it was so refreshing and rare to see such an admirable character brought to life on the little screen. You once said, concerning your life's ambitions that, "I just want to be the best husband, father and actor that I can be.".......Well, you have shown those qualities over and over again. I pray that God continues to bless you and your family. Thanks again for the memories (I have them all on tape) and I am looking forward to seeing you in your next project. Sincerely, Cora

  • David James Elliott, thank you. -- J. MacLellan, 08:22:52 03/04/05 Fri [1]
Thank you for your protrayal of Commander Harmon Rabb, Jr. When my husband passed away in March of 2002, one of our sons told me I should look at the series JAG as the star reminded him of his father. I did, and yes, warching Commander Rabb, there were a number of similarities, height, the walk, and the respect for the Navy and the military, the sincerity and the caring manner. So I watched, found reruns of the earlier episodes and pieced together the story of Cdr. Rabb. It pulled me through some really lonely nights and odd hours of those first months and then a year, and now just about three years. Rabb was a great character. Watching these fictional stories and people, one wonders what the real person is like. It is the person I wish to thank, sent best wishes to, and good luck to, and express the hope that you will appear again before or behind the camera, to entertain us, to encourage us to think, to learn and above all to care. The ability to portray caring, so much of it in the eyes and the facial expressions, came from within the real person, David Elliott, and for that, and the hours of good television, thank you. sincerely.

    Thank you David James Elliott!

You took a fictional character and brought it to life for so many of us. With all that is going on around us JAG was a welcome escape. JAG was a ritual in our neighborhood for all these years. We would exchange houses, invite adults and children ("family night"). During these last 10 years, babies were born, weddings took place and there were losses. With all the ups and downs there was always the same question: What's coming up on JAG next week. We loved all the ensemble cast, but Harm was JAG to us. We will miss Harm, but look forward to DJE in front or behind camera. Wishing you, Nancy & Family the best. God Bless & Thank you again, Elizabeth

Yes I know someone created the character of Harmon Rabb Jr., and someone wrote the stories, and someone directed the episodes but it was David James Elliott who made the character alive and real. Without your talents the creator, the writer, and the director would have been lost. I truly feel that you worked to make Harm as real and human as possible. I also believe that without your dedication to hard work this show would not have made it to ten years. The Navy and the country should be very proud of the character you so nobly portrayed. Harm was there in a time when our country needed him the most. The show may go on but without David James Elliott as Harmon Rabb it will never be Jag. I wish you the best of luck at ABC and whatever else you do. Your talent is always welcome and I look forward to seeing you soon. You will be missed while you are TAD. Come back to us. We'll be waiting.

Yes, my husbands swears that I am addicted and that sometimes I love you more then him. But that's okay becouse he has no idea the outlet you have provided for me.

    Dear David (Harm):

    Saying goodbye-
    Why is it sad
Makes us remember the good times we had...

All of us women fell in love with a handsome, dress whites/gold wings wearing Naval Commander named Harmon Rabb,Jr. But me-it was your gift of bringing Harm to life and for 1 hour a week; my screen name was created by a US Navy pilot and others in a chat room, because I talked about JAG and THE THREE MUSKETTERS. How was I to know fans of JAG were everywhere???? I know-it was because of the cast, crew and talented writers.

David, you,Nancy and the kids are going on a new journey-wish I could say THANKS in person to you for being there at JAG and to Nancy for sharing you with everyone.

Better get ready to go shopping for my books...I'm going to LAW SCHOOL(and I give my uncle, you and your portrayal, credit for helping me make that decision).

...we never say goodbye...just see ya at the next posting...(from SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON John Wayne).
    Thanks for ALL the memories.

Mr. Elliott, thank you for your wonderful portrayal of today's military. I know that it is tv and things were a little off tangent, but for the most part it was done well. Having grown up in the military, and about to enter the Navy myself, I commend you. I truly believe that without you JAG would not have lasted nearly the length that it has. Ms. Bell and the others have helped the show, but you are the reason we watch. As a young person in today's society I have learned much about life, life in the military and life in general, through your portrayal of Harm, and of you as a person, David. I will continue to watch our favorite military law show, but it will never be the same. Thank God for syndication.
God Bless, and best wishes for you and your family. Thank you for letting us be part of your life, and you part of ours.

Thank you so much for your strong, wonderful portrayal of Harm all these years on JAG! There is so little on night-time television that I let my son watch, but JAG has always been a show he and I watch together, ever since he became old enough to understand it. "Harm" has inspired my son, who is nearly 9, to aspire to attending the Naval Academy and then a career in the Navy as a lawyer, perhaps. (He scores very high in the area of maps and graphs on achievement tests, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him end up a navigation officer on a ship). I have never written a fan letter before, but I had to let you know how much a part of my life you have become. Thank you for your wonderful performance as Harm. Your kindness, compassion, sense of humor made you a real person to many of us. I am going to miss you, but I have some favorite tapes that I play often. It seems that I can't go to bed without watching one of my tapes, even though some nights there have been two episodes on USA. My husband says he can't even talk to me when JAG is on. I wish you well in your new endeavors & will follow you as much as possible. By the way I taped Holiday Affair & watch that even though it is not the Christmas season. There will be no more Jag for me at the end if this season, because without you there is no JAG. By the way I am a woman in my middle seventies, & you have captured my heart. Good luck. We were very lucky to have 10 years & can still watch the reruns on USA.

  • Thank you, Mr. Elliott for a great Tomcat ride with Harmon Rabb Jr. As a rabid fan of the Military and History channels, it has always been interesting to see the Hollywood take on the armed forces. Your character has always displayed the human being behind the military fighting man. Your portrayl of the hard choices made by our fighting men and women in doing their duty is a shining example of do for others. • Thank you David James Elliott for giving life to such a wonderful character!! -- Beth K. from PA, 13:18:56 03/02/05 Wed [1]
I'm so very sad to hear that you'll be leaving JAG. Harmon Rabb, Jr. is such an admirable character and your acting, dedication, and abilities have brought him to life for us. In a time when there are not many TV shows that can claim to show good, wholesome values, JAG stood out, and Harm's fight for truth and justice was the heart and soul of this show. Even though he was not perfect, those imperfections made him all the more endearing. Harm is a true hero in every sense of the word. YOU were Harm and Harm was JAG - that (and you) can never be replaced.

I've been a faithful fan since I found JAG on USA during my maternity leave in 2001. I've caught up with all of the episodes on re-runs on CBS and USA and have many of them on tape. When I was in labor with my second son last year I watched my JAG tapes to distract me from the labor pains. The doctor asked if I wanted an epidural and I told her "my Harm" would get me through - and that's just what happened! My son was kind enough to allow me to finish watching "Lifeline" 20 minutes before he came into the world!

Thank you for all you did with Harm and for showing our military men and women in a positive light! I wish you every success at ABC and will be eagerly awaiting your next project. God Bless you and your family!

As a family we started watching JAG during Season 3. My daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer that year. Through 3 years of 4 surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy we watched JAG. My daughter, her 2 sons and myself. She died 4 years ago. the boys were 7 and 19. Till Scott the oldest went away to college he continued to watch with Sean and I. Sean now at 13 still watches with me. He is very interested in anything related to space. As "Harm" you have been a wonderful role model for him. From JAG we have learned history, geography, the military, judicial system and much more all while being entertained with fine acting. I have a copy of every episode of JAG except Skeleton Crew. I have been to JAGFANFEST 2003 & 2004 and I am regiistered for 2005. I was at the March 2004 Walk of Fame for DB. It is amazing how much a part of our lives you have become. Thank you . Dear David,
JAG and the character of Harmon Rabb, Jr. has seen me through some difficult times in my life and I will be lost without you on the show. No DJE = no Harm = no JAG for me.

I started watching JAG with my late husband, a former "squid" who served on two different Navy ships during the Vietnam War. After the pilot episode he couldn't help but notice that I was no longer watching because the show was about the Navy, but because of your portrayal of Harm. After his death in August of 1996 I was overjoyed when CBS decided to pick JAG up and I have been a faithful and loyal viewer of every episode.

I feel extremely sad as to the way you are being forced to leave the show after devoting ten years of bringing Harm to life for us, the fans - Harm has been charming, talented, compassionate, exciting, a seeker of truth, a true and loyal friend to many; I could go on forever extolling his virtues. But there would be none of this except for your hard work and dedication; there is a lot of David James Elliott in Harm.

I am a tremendous fan of your talent and wish you well in whatever endeavors you take on in the future. I will continue to follow your career with gusto for you are my favorite actor and I anxiously await your next project at ABC. That network obviously knows a great talent and wonderful human being when they see one.

I am not in the habit of sending letters to television actors and celebrities (this is my first one) and my children and great-grandchildren will obviously think I'm "off my rocker" but I could not pass up the chance to express my feelings to you. Thank you for the last ten years of JAG (and others before that).

Thank you so much for bringing the character of Cmd. Rabb to life. Through your work, I found a new understanding and even more respect for our armed forces. And through Harm, an even greater pride in my country. I'll miss him. I wish you and your family all the best.
PS- Please pass along to your wife that I loved what her character brought to the show as well. Her performance in the jagathon episode had me holding back tears. Wonderful work.

Along with many others here, I have never written to anyone in the entertainment business prior to this.

As someone with a life-long military background (my father and husband are both career Air Force officers) I want to thank you for the positive portrayal of the military your character evoked for the past ten years. Harm made a lot of people happy who often felt neglected and overlooked by society as a whole.

On a more personal note, having been married to a "fighter jock" for over twenty years, I'd really like to commend you as an actor for the way you portrayed that facet of Harmon Rabb Jr. The character always had just the right blend of cocky arrogance, innate confidence and charm that made him believable to those of us who know the "type." He will be missed.

Best wishes for continued success in your new endeavor.

    Thank you David,
JAG has been an important part of our lives the last couple years. My husband was an Army veteran who was disabled for the last several years and as a result very irritable. The one TV show we could always agree on was JAG. It reminded us of the early years of our marriage, when he was my tall dark and handsome hero in uniform. I used to rush home from work to watch JAG with him. When USA changed the time I learned to program my VCR (now small feat for a technophobe), so we could continue our tradition. The day before my husband died as we were waiting for the end to come, we watched JAG together, his last tv-show ever. After he died I loved some of those tender episodes dealing with death and dying, especially "Coming Home" (as well as the non-JAG Dodson's journey). Thank you for a very enjoyable, clean show and your portraial of a not always perfect, but sensitive, yet powerful Harm. Good luck for your future endeavors. I am looking forward to your future work. I would love some more made for TV movies like Dodson's Journey, Degree of Guilt etc. (still waiting for Code 11-14 to become availble for purchase)

  • Dear David, -- Cecilia (Cece), from Vancouver, B.C., 13:30:18 02/27/05 Sun [1]
I am another tv viewer who has never written to an actor before, but I am making an exception in this case. First of all, I want to thank you so very much for putting me in Harm’s way for 10 wonderful years. I suppose Harm could have been played by another actor, but I cannot imagine anyone embodying this terrific role as you have done.

Harm was honest, good, intelligent, and brave. But the qualities I loved the most were his gentleness and his kindness. I loved the way he spoke to little Darlyn, or the empathy he felt for fatherless Josh. I loved the way he immediately let his heart go out to Mattie, and the way he took Harriet in his arms to comfort her over the loss of her baby.

I loved the tears in his eyes when he said goodbye to his father, and when he said goodbye to Mac before leaving JAG to go back to flying.

Harm didn’t fight for justice, blinded by righteous indignation. He always saw the human face on the men and women he defended or prosecuted, and he felt his emotions deeply.

But I also loved the fun, sexy, cheeky Harm. The one who bantered with Mac, or fell back in the Admiral’s chair, or smoked his cigar with that cockeyed grin. I loved the tough Harm in Force Recon, or the Cary Grant-style charmer in What If? I simply loved Harm.

And you David, played this role as no other actor could. The poignancy, sweetness, and light you gave to the character, endeared you to me as it did to so many others. For legions of fan, you can never be replaced, and will never be replaced.

A mutual love of, and admiration for, Harm as played by you David, has brought many wonderful people together, and friendships have been forged that I hope will last for many years. It is no surprise to me that the friends I have met through Harm, are as wonderful as the character they admire. After all, we all admire the same human qualities, qualities that Harm had and that you played so well. Without you, I can never watch JAG again, even though I will miss Mac, Bud, Sturgis, and Coates. Without Harm, there is no JAG, and I will miss you (and him) so very much.

So thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so proud that you are a fellow Canadian, and I wish you all the greatest luck with your career. I hope that we will all be able to see you in another tv or movie role very soon. I, along with your many, many fans, will be there watching you bring your wonderful charm to whatever role you play.

Dear Cmdr Rabb- Thank you for 10 years of great Naval entertainment. As a Navy veteran each of your naval exploits out of the office brought back memories. And when you're old and disabled memories help you get thru the day. You will be missed but I have all your episodes on tape. David,
Thanks for 10 wonderful years of Harmon Rabb. You have brought honor and dignity to the TV screen and to the Navy. As a Navy family we appreciate you giving us a look into the way our military families live. Many of them make great sacrifices which you often brought out in your role as Harm.
I had the pleasure of sailing on a carrier with my son during a Tiger Cruise. He met his 8 month old daughter for the first time on a Navy pier when the carrier arrived home. I must say that at times during that 5 day trip I felt like I was part of a JAG script. I had been there and seen those places every week for years. JAG brought the Navy to the people and you were a wonderful actor to show us the dignity, honor, sacrifice and courage which the Navy represents.
Harm is JAG and it will never be right without him. Thank you for many great evenings of entertainment.
May God richly bless you and your family as you enter into a new future.

  • Thank you Mr. Elliot -- Kathy Buhrman (aka JAG4me), 21:13:09 02/25/05 Fri [1]
I began watching JAG about 2 years ago after the birth of my daughter and several surgeries left me bored enough to watch tv. I was hooked from the first rerun! I don't usually watch anything and suddenly I had this show I HAD to watch every time it was on! My husband chuckled at this turn of events (suddenly I was demanding the remote, something that never happened in 14 years of marriage!) and then after a few weeks of reruns on USA, he told me, "I shouldn't tell you this, but CBS runs new eps on Tuesday evenings". Well, I guess you know where I and my family have been every Tuesday and then every Friday night since then. I have become so obsessed as to go online and become part of the family over at the JAG Family and Friends board and my family has thought about committing me from time to time. LOL!
All this to say, the reason I became so addicted to JAG was because of Harm/DJE. Here is an honorable man, one of the last decent men on earth, who was daring and dashing and willing to go to any lengths for those he cared about. You have a passion about you that comes across in your character. You are Harmon Rabb, Jr., at least on that screen you are. Everything I have seen about you says that you love your family and I loved the way you and Nanci played off of each other when she was on the show. I didn't know at first that she was your wife, and what a treat when I found that out and then saw scenes where you 2 were having words, or any scenes you were both in, you complemented each other well. The chemistry between you and the rest of the cast has been wonderful as well and I am sorry this season has been so "Harm-lite". You are missed already. Thank you for entertaining me and doing such a class act for the last few years. I will be rewatching videos for years to come, but JAG is being trashed already, so it is pretty much over for me already. Sadly, the honestly and ethics and honor seem to be gone and unless Harm is going to be making a major reappearance, I won't be watching anytime soon. What a shame, because I love CB and PL and KT and ZM and HH also, but tptb seem to be bent on trashing the show and I just can't watch anymore. I'll be watching ABC excitedly for your next endeavor and can't wait to see what you pour your heart and talent into next!

All my best to you and your family! May God bless you!
    Kathy

I just wanted to let you know how much I have appreciated the ten years you put in to JAG. As a naval historian and legal fan, you have made this show a joy to watch (albeit sometimes frustrating--actually that's CBS' promo department's fault) and I have found your acting compelling to watch. My husband has had to share me with you on both Tuesday and Friday nights. Your portrayal of Harmon Rabb personified much of how I saw good naval officers and I think that a tribute to your acting abilities. However, I have also seen you in other roles and know that your portrayal of Cmdr. Rabb is only one part of who you are as an actor. I look forward to seeing you in your next project for ABC/Touchstone.

    Sincerely,

I trust your instincts implicitly, so I am sure that whatever projects you agree to be involved with, will be something of merit. I have watched your portrayal of Commander Rabb for 10 years and I have enjoyed your myriad talents. You have made Harm a multi faceted man, a man with warmth and sensitivity, as well as strength, honor and integrity. It has been a true pleasure to join Harm on all his adventures week after week; I will miss seeing him very much. I look forward, however, to watching whatever new characters you take on next. I’m sure I will love them as much as I do Harm (well, almost). Thank you for all the wonderful years. Good luck and best wishes.

    David,
This has been a wonderful ten years. You have made such a difference in bringing to life a hero we can admire. Lots of actors would have no clue about portraying someone of honor and integrity. You obviously have deep beliefs that helped you flesh out such a character.

The end of JAG this season will end JAG for me. There will not be a replacement for your character, no matter what name, what actor, what plot is written.

Thank you for honoring our military men and women by this role. We will miss the character and miss seeing you every week.

We will all be waiting to see what comes next. Whatever it is, we'll be there for you!

    Dear Mr. Elliott, (David)
I thank your for all of your gifts, given to all of us who have been long time supporters of JAG. You have formed us into on line cohesive groups of men and women, who love everything about JAG (for the most part) and have given us lots about which to talk during the weeks between episodes. It has been a joy to be a part of the JAG family and spend time discussing each little nuance!
I am sorry that your time has ended in such a hurtful manner. It is my hope that ABC will appreciate the person you are, and the talent you have always put into your portrayal of “Harmon Rabb Jr.” We are all saddened by our loss of your character and you, and in our hearts and minds will find ways in which to bring “Harm” and “Mac” together.
May God bless you in your new endeavors and bring happiness to you and your family. Thank you for ten wonderful years. You will be missed. We do, however, look forward to your new projects. We will be there!
Sincerely, Barb Pryor (navybrat on the boards).

  • Thank you David, -- Monika (from Sweden), 11:56:24 02/25/05 Fri [1]
A little over six years ago, my brother, by coincidence, introduced me to a TV-show about lawyers in the US Navy. I had never heard about this so called "JAG" (I live in the small country of Sweden and had in fact no idea about the military, let alone the American one).

But from the first moment I was hooked, and surprised how well-written this show was and, unconsiously, I started to take an interest in the military, and discovered what an honorable job they do.

However, there was a special character who caught my attention, a young cocky man by the name of Harmon Rabb Jr. The thing that was so special about this man, was the genuine kindness and caring behind that cocky front, to do the right thing (something that sadly is very unusual in today´s media and real life itselves). Pretty quickly I understood that the person who portrayed this somewhat complex character must be very skilled and professional. I was right. There is no actor who could have brought Harmon Rabb to life as wonderfully as David James Elliott.

Thank you David, for dedicating ten years of your life to portraying a person we can all be proud of, a man with a kindness, strength, honor and love that is rare today. You and your character are truly one of the last gentlemen.

I am grateful for having "known" you. You have given me a new positive view of the military and you have done it with dignity and honor. You will be missed, but I shall always remember your wonderful contribution to JAG, you ARE JAG. Noone will ever fill your shoes.

I wish you and your family all the happiness and success in the future. You have an incredible gift for acting. Never forget that.

    "Fair Winds, and Following Seas",
    God bless!

    Sincerely, Monika (from Sweden)

Where do I start! I think it was about 3 years ago, when I would come home from work and find my wonderful mother watching this TV show called "JAG"! I never was very interested in it, and to be perfectly honest with you, I didn't care much for it! I would always ask her what she saw in the man (she thought you were very good looking) with the funny looking ear! Well to make a long story short, she eventually got her daughter hooked on JAG, with the man and his funny looking ear! And the rest is history! Oh..... as for the funny looking ear, it's no longer funny looking, it's just down right adorable!!!! Anyway, I'm so disappointed that you will no longer be on JAG! The character of Harm that you have so wonderfully portrayed will be greatly missed! Thank you for the 10 years of hard work you put into one Harmon Rabb, Jr. Good Luck with your deal with ABC! We (mom & I) will be looking for you there soon!
Oh, please thank Nanci for her years on JAG also. Her character of Loren wasn't liked much by us fans but she made it interesting to say the least!! Ha!!

God Bless You & Your Wonderful Family!!

Thank you for the best ten years of television that I have ever enjoyed. I have been a dedicated viewer for each and every episode (all on Video) of JAG. You are JAG !!! No one can ever take your place. Your portrayal of Harm has shown what a wonderful actor you really are. I am sad that JAG is over for me, but I wish you all the success you deserve, because you have worked many hours and much energy into this role. Just filming Adrift 1 and 2 had to be extremely difficult for you and it was magnificent acting. My husband was a Lt.Sr. Grade in the Navy many years ago, so JAG really became the only TV series I never missed. It brought back a lot of memories. Thanks to you. It would have been great if "Harm and Mac" could have gotten together but DB doesn't believe in happy endings if his past history is taken into consideration. I will be among the rest of your fans who will not be watching JAG after this season.

Good Luck in the future with ABC, and hope to see you on TV or on the big screen soon. Bless you and your wonderful family.

I have really enjoyed the past nine years of JAG. The stories, humor, reality of the show, but most of all I have enjoyed the shipper moments between Harm and Mac.

I will certainly miss you. I know "nothing lasts forever anymore" but I was so praying to see a wedding take place between Harm and Mac and even maybe a little bundle of joy. Thanks for all the laughs, tears and joy you have brought to my life anong with all the other cast members. I am looking forward to seeing you in another show on TV.

Who knows if DPB will get his heart right, maybe we could have a reunion: Harm, Mac, AJ, Gunny, Tiner, Keater, Bud, and Harriet. We can hope can't we????

God Bless you, Nanci and your children.

I would never imagine that I would write to an actor but here I am because I have been overwhelmed by my feelings since I found out that this is the last season you would be on JAG. The least I can do is to let you know that you are appreciated by me and with no doubt, by millions of JAG viewers.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the joy and entertainment that you have brought to my little world through your portray of Harmon Rabb, Jr. in JAG. You did an incredible job in bringing this intelligent, determined, compassionate, loyal, courageous and honorable character to life. JAG is the only drama series that I watch and you are the main reason. You could bring out the emotion of the scene without even saying a single word. The feeling, passion and sentiment could be conveyed through your expressive eyes, your smile, an arch of your eyebrows, lips drawn in a thin line, a little frown, a broad grin, your body posture etc, etc. This character became so real because of your tremendous talent. A look, a gaze, a glare, a glance and a stare from you could let me feel about Harm’s joy, sadness, anger, love, grief and longing. I really can’t put in words the pleasure, the emotional ups and downs that this character has brought to me. It has been a wonderful ride.

You are the heart and soul of JAG. You/Harm cannot be replaced. Sadly, this is the last season of JAG for me but you will never be forgotten. I am looking forward to see you again on screen. Good luck with you new venture at ABC. I wish you and your family the best. THANKS AGAIN!

    Best Regards,

.. the day in which there would be no more JAG. No David James Elliott= No Harm=No JAG. You have no idea what a privilege it has been for me to watch you these last 10 years in a role no one else could have portrayed. You've seen me through some very tough times of illness, sadness & feelings of hopelessness. I looked forward every week to watching JAG-no matter what night or time it aired- I was *there*! Your performances gave honor & integrity to the military, and you also wore the uniform extremely well! Your on-screen chemistry with Catherine Bell was wonderful- the likes of which this viewer hasn't seen in years with any other acting duo. ABC is to be congratulated- their gain is CBS's loss. I will follow you in any project you pursue. I hope that you can relax for a time with your family, as I know they're important to you- a quality I greatly admire. Here's to looking forward to seeing you on television, or even better- "the BIG screen" soon. I met a bunch of fabulous ladies and gentlemen all over the word, with who I shared ideas, and talks about JAG. I can say that I got true friends because of jag, because of the Harm character to whom you gave life, and I wanted to thank you for this. I'll watch what ever you may do. But JAG will go one without me if there is a 11th season, because for me and for a lot of friends of mine, NO HARM = NO JAG. Jag was about Harm's life, and without him, it is no more JAG, it is an other show that i don't mind to watch. Last sunday, we got the last ep of the 9th season. But I know that I won't watch the next season when it will be aired here, and less a 11th if there is one, so will do my sons, my mom and lots of my friends. Good luck for the futur, on ABC.

Ten years ago, a handsome, green-eyed 6’4” top gun pilot turned JAG lawyer snagged my attention and has led me down many paths in the course of the years that I have faithfully watched JAG. The characters of Harm and Mac became such an obsession that I discovered the on-line community of JAG and because of that I’ve made many wonderful friends. I give you a standing ovation for your talent, your professionalism, and your courage to say “enough”. To say that JAG will definitely not be the same without Harm/DJE is putting it mildly. I don’t think they realize what they are loosing. I credit ABC for the intelligence in recognizing your talent; they will be getting a jewel. I realize that all good things must come to an end, but you will be sorely missed. I only discovered JAG about three years ago, but I have seen all the episodes, and I am enthralled by the way you have brought the character Harmon Rabb to life. I wish you the best of luck in upcoming projects, and I will look forward to seeing you in other movies or TV shows in the near future. Many, many thanks for the hours of enjoyment that you have brought to so many people.

  • Dear Mr. Elliott, -- Acer.... From Taiwan, 15:54:23 02/22/05 Tue [1]

I would like to expression my appreciation for your wonderful work on JAG. I enjoy not only your acting, but also your directing work. You did an excellent job :)!!

JAG is really more than a TV show for me. It has impacted my life in a way that you probably could not imagine. Harm and Mac have touched my heart deeply in a way that nothing else did!!

In addition, via JAG, I met many nice and interesting people online. The interactions with other fans online have changed me for better. It has led me to a side of me that I did not know exist and it is one of the best gifts that I have ever received.

Watching JAG even helped me to bridge cultural gaps. I was an international student in the USA for years, and have been struggling with culture barriers. JAG helped me to bridge the gap. As a result, I won honor as an excellent teacher ranked by my American students. It would not happen, if I were not a JAG fan!!

So, JAG will always occupy a very special place in my heart and my life. You have made a show that means much more than just entertainment to me! THANK YOU!!

....and CONGRATULATIONS on your new contrast! :) I wish you the best in everything!!

  • Dear Mr. Elliott - I send you my gratitude for the last ten years I've had watching your character Harm in JAG. You have given him a humanity and a reality that is missing in so many of the other characters on television. -- Susan from Silverdale, WA, 15:47:42 02/22/05 Tue [1]
And thank you so much for the respect you have given to our service men and women who fight for us each day.

You have always graced Harm with an obligation to find the truth in all cases, and let that determine the finding of the court. You have been an inspiration to service people everywhere. I only wish that all lawyers were as faithful to the facts as Harm has been, and as driven to have justice done. I wish you well in whatever you do, and expect to be watching when you again appear on television.

  • Dear DJE I'm not sure what to say but need to say thank you for he past 4 years. -- Liz - Plymouth, UK, 14:07:55 02/22/05 Tue [1]
I found JAG by accident about 4 years ago and have been fortunate to be able to catch up will all 9 seasons and am awaiting the 10th which is due to be shown here in the UK later this year. Harm has been a big part of my life ever since and like so many others JAG will cease to be for me when Harm leaves. Harm is JAG. Your portrail of the character has been wonderful. You have enabled us to become absorbed into a world which, for one hour a week allows us to escape the trials and tribulations of normal everyday life and for that I thank you. Through Harm I have made lots of new friends worldwide via the Harmyboard and I am sure that these friendships will continue. Harm has been more than just a TV character he has become and institution and one which we will not forget. For everything you have brought to Harm and to our lives, thank you. I wish you and your family well and a promise that I will follow you in no matter what you do.

To Harm I would like to say, we love you - I shall miss you. You are everything a man should be, strong and upright. caring and protective. We have seen you laugh, cry, get angry and be sad. Through it all we have been there for you and you in return have brought joy to our lives. Without you there is no JAG and I for one shall not continue to watch. You are JAG and always will be. Thank you for the past 10 years. I shall miss you.

  • I haven't written a fan letter in about 30 years (okay, it was David Cassidy and I was 12), but I feel compelled to tell you how much fun my -- Maureen "Mo" Jacquot, 12:23:27 02/22/05 Tue [1]
I'd never really watched an episode until the engagement party aired. I mentioned it to my friend, Mary, and my sister, Lisa, who both had seen it and loved it too. Then we were hooked. We get together twice each year to watch (a mid-season holiday party and season finale party) where we present each other with attendance prizes -- like a JAG shirt, mug, Christmas ornament we made, or the best to date, a talking picture frame with your face which says, "Come to me" -- we deleted the Mac part.

Needless to say we have a lot of fun with this. Maybe too much fun. My dad (a former Marine) is on an FBI bio-terrorism task force and several years ago had a meeting in, where else, Falls Church, VA. My sister and I asked him to look for JAG items for us. He asked several people there if they knew where he could find something until one woman mentioned to him what JAG was. When he called us back and asked if JAG was a fictional television series, he was a little upset. Something about the people at the FBI must wonder who they have given national security responsiblity to.

When we see you on Regis, you seem like a really nice guy. That's why we wish you only the best in your future endeavors. Thanks for helping some stay-at-home moms and an overworked attorney have some inexpensive and completely enjoyable entertainment the last few years. We look forward to seeing you again soon (on TV that is, unless you are in St. Louis and would like to give my sister and friend the hoot of a lifetime).

    Thanks again!

It is so sad to see you leave JAG. I am a 73 year old lady,
who has been watching your wonderful portrayal of Harmon Rabb, Jr. for all of its 10 years run. You made this character your own for such a long time; it doesn't seem possible that you will be gone. But, as a lot of people have been saying: No DJE, no JAG for me, but, I will continue watching until the end of this year in hope that they will let this fine character go with dignity. I will always remember Harm in court fighting for his client, cover pulled low in Mac's doorway, dress whites and gold wings, dark uniform was not bad either, flying his "Sarah" or Tomcats.
This a thank you to you for those wonderful years and wishing
you the very best of luck in your future endeavours.

I started watching JAG when my Dad was in the hospital dying from cancer. He loved the show and no matter how bad he felt or who was visiting he would stop when JAG came on and say to whoever was around...'This is a great show..Do you watch this show?' And all conversation would come to a halt while we sat and watched it with him. My stepmom said she thought he saw some of himself when he was younger in the character of Harmon Rabb Jr. And that's not a bad thing!

I kept watching the show after he died-it made me feel closer to him-- and soon I became as enthralled as he was with the story of this wonderful character. Watching you on JAG has become a necessary weekly fixture in my life and when you are gone I'll be losing something that in my heart is linked to my father. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for portraying Harm for 10 years–a character that is noble, honorable, funny, loving, compassionate, heroic, and a gentleman. With your character, I have laughed and have cried. I’ve also learned from him and have been inspired by him. It’s been such a joy watching you as Harm. You have played him with such class and have given him the dignity of a hero.

I admire you for the person you are:
    • A talented and amazing actor who has also branched his talent into other avenues–directing, writing, and producing. (Woohoo! You go, David!!)
    • A caring and compassionate human being who has brought joy to every life you have touched (including mine).
    • A dedicated and committed family man. You truly are a rarity in Hollywood. You’re different because of the love you have for your family and that’s what sets you apart from
    everyone else.

You have inspired me to follow my dreams and never give up until they come true because I’ve watched you succeeding in your dream to be an actor and YOU NEVER GAVE UP until it came true. Thank you for setting an example for me to follow and being a role model that I can and am honored to look up to.

Because of you, I have made friendships that will last for a lifetime. With that being said, I consider you to be a friend too.

For me, JAG will end this season when you leave because you *are* *the* reason I watch it and you will NEVER be replaced on the screen or in my heart. My loyalty to you comes first.

I’m a little sad that you’re leaving, but I’m more excited for you in the new direction you’re taking and can’t wait to see what you’re doing next. This is one fan (of many, I’m sure) who believes in you.

You’re in my prayers every day. All my love and God Bless You to you and your family.

You wore the uniform like you belonged in it. No one will fill your shoes for me. I am proud to say I am one of the fans who will not be watching the show after this season. You are JAG to me and without you the show ends.
I wish you the best in your endeavers and I hope you find the recognition you so richly deserve.
May any new show you find be as succesful as you want it to be and here's to 10 more seasons of DJE on my screen.
Happy Trails to Harmon Rabb Junior. Thank you David and Good Luck. You and Harm will be missed dearly by this sad JAG fan.

I came to watch JAG by accident about 3 years ago and have been hooked ever since. The character you portray as Harm sums up everything that a gentleman should be. Strong and protective but at the same time being caring and loving. For me Harm is JAG and without him the show will cease to be. I wish you and your family all the best for the future and look forward to watching your new shows /films in the future. Thank you for 10 years of wonderful story telling.

  • Thank you for your devotion and continuing efforts to portray the American serviceman at his best and most human. -- Dorothy, 10:40:06 02/22/05 Tue [1]
I came late to JAG but I found in it the same qualities that drew me to great movies about the human struggles whether they be during times of war or day-to-day activities. Your devotion to family and friends has been overlooked in the continuing debate over your leaving of JAG. I personally feel that your silence follows the old motto about if you cannot say anything good then don't talk at all. Once again, best wishes in all your endeavors and looking forward to seeing you or your works soon.

Thank you for the ten years you have given us on Jag. The first time I saw Lt. Harmon Rabb Jr was walking across the carrier deck of the Seahawk in the pilot episode in Dresswhites no less and I was hooked. I have watched every episode and have most on tape. I only can hope for Harm and Mac and their future. Sorry you will not be there until the end. I would like to know, at sometime in the future if necessary, What in the H*** happened. I never thought you would leave. I will not be watching Jag after season 10 because to me the Jag is leaving. Good luck with ABC and I will be watching for any project with you in it.

I'm 21 years old fan from Israel, and I have been watching this show since I was 12. Your portrayal of Harmon Rabb Jr. has captured me from the start, and may I say even inspired me to go to law school.
Harm is the kind of man I want to be with someday. Even if it just as a friend. He is an honorable man, the kind that will go a great length for his friends, and even farther for strangers. Your portrayal of him gave him his soul and life, and turned him from a fictional character in a television show into a real friend.
Watching this show has helped me deal with my father's death and tough choices I had to make in my life.
I also met some great friends which I wouldn't have met if it weren't for you.
I can't thank you enough for the escape you gave me from real life and the friends that I met because of my love for this show and your character.
I wish you and your family success and happiness. And I'm looking forward to your next projects.

You have really done a splendid job in the portrayal of Harm on JAG. I have been chatting with several of your fans on a site called TVtome you should go to the site there , you will see how very upset everyone is to have you leave the show. The biggest issue is of course your undying affection for Mac and her statement of love for you! Your fans desperately wish for the two of you to resolve the love issue by being together at the end. They have patiently waited for the romance to be a full blown episode of you and Mac . I realize that you as an actor have very little to say about what is written in the script but seeing as you are already gone as it were , could you give DB a nudge if he has not already written a great ending for you both? There will be a terrible outcry from all the fans , especially the diehard shippers if there is not some wonderful Harm and Mac closure. LOL
I wish you well in your next project, never lose that great smile and cheeky grin........................

I just want to thank you for all the years of enjoyment you have given JAG fans everywhere—including me!
You were the show, in my opinion, and I looked forward to every scene you had with Catherine (as Mac)! We know that all good things must come to an end someday, but we are still sad, nonetheless.

I hope that your career continues to soar and you achieve many successes post-JAG! No matter where your career goes, your fans will follow, as will I. Good luck and God Bless!

  • THANK YOU TO DJE FOR 10 WONDERFUL YEARS -- Danielle Regimbal, 09:50:08 02/22/05 Tue [1]
I just wished to add my two cents as a Thank You.

Like many others, my family and I have watched JAG for some time. For the most part we have usually enjoyed it. we have laughed, cried and sat on the edge or our seats when episodes called for it, and yes, we have been frustrated when the writers didn't allow your character and Catherine Bell's character to get "together". But, through it all you have kept us entertained with your interpretation of the stories.

Early last year my Mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. Needless to say, my family's world came crashing down around us pretty quickly and life became one challenge after another. Being a small close knit family with no one but ourselves to rely on it was especially hard to deal with her diagnosis, her treatments, taking care of each other, maintaining a demanding job and all the rest that life threw at us. My only "coping mechanism" if you will, was turning on JAG, you, Catherine Bell, et al on USA Network and CBS to help me forget my real life for a little while. It helped to become caught up with episodes that I didn't get to see in prior seasons and watch the new ones as they unfolded. Seeing you just about every day was a very nice way of forgetting life for awhile.

Watching you, Catherine and the show became our thing to do together as a family, both on Friday nights and during the rest of the week. I can't tell you how many times I would come home to find Mom watching "Harm" or call during the day to see how things were going only to have her say she was watching "Harm and Mac" and could I call back later. It helped me to know that Mom and Dad could concentrate on something other than a difficult treatment day or a set back in her health. She always thought that the show was exciting, she liked each character, although I think sometimes she was a little annoyed with the way they wrote both "Harm and Mac"'s characters, feeling that the writers were doing a disservice to both you as actors and your characters with all the angst and stress to keep you both apart just to make the show a little more "exciting".

Unfortunately, we lost Mom in late October, but I just wanted to say thank you for giving my family a chance to forget about real life for a little while and for keeping us entertained from week to week and day to day. I hope that you have nothing but the greatest of success no matter what you do. We look forward to seeing you in future projects. To our family, at least, there will be no JAG without you. Good Luck and God Bless you and your family.

    With regards

  • David, Thank you for 10 great years with a character we all loved! The depth you brought to the character of Harm spurred on many discussions among us on this message board and many others. Celebrating your character and JAG as a series was the common interest that brought us together both online and in person, and as a result, great friendships were formed. Best of luck in your future endeavors! I'll be watching! -- Shygirl, 09:23:41 02/22/05 Tue [1]

during your time on JAG all the planets were aligned favorably. You are the only actor who could have pulled off portraying Harmn Rabb, Jr. as a confident, yet humble fighter pilot. You were compassionate about the truth, caring for friends and willing to go the extra mile to aid the helpless and the downtrodden. Your portrayal was honorable and decent and always in compliance with the spirit if not the letter of the laws that you were sworn to uphold as Harm. You brought dignity and a subtle sense of humor to the character. Most of all, your portrayal made me proud to be an American and very proud of the men and women who serve in the military. I have never been so moved by a fictional character. Thank you for bringing Commander Harmon Rabb, Jr. to life and for 10 wonderful years of entertainment. It goes without saying that once you are no longer a member of the cast, so I too will leave JAG as a fan. To me you are JAG, and there's no one who will ever replace you on the television scree or in my heart. Your portrayal is synonymous with "hero".

  • Hi Mr Elliott or DJE or David however you prefer to be addressed personally. I want to say first and foremost in a town and business that does not promote personal stability among stars of stature and personal attractiveness its always been heartwarming to see what a wonderful stable family man you are. Of everything about you I’ve admired that most. -- Thank you, Karen, 09:13:38 02/22/05 Tue [1]
