  • Thank You David -- Deets aka Ditte, 22:34:39 03/15/05 Tue [1]
David, thank you for 10 years of Harmon Rabb and for being one of the reasons that I've met so many other people out in the wide world. In Europe to USA. Just because of our shared interest in JAG.
I hope you'll get alot more to do with the new project and wishing you all the best in the future.

Also I got to meet you back in year 2000, even though you had been busy working and was ready to go home - it was quite late if you ask me - and yet you took some time to say hello to me. I treasure that moment.... it was the first time I met an American actor :-) Thanks

    All the best,
    Ditte B. Denmark

Just wanted to express my appreciation to for your portrayal of Harmon Rabb,Jr. for the last ten years. It's been a pleasure to watch Harm evolve as a character and your hard work has made that possible.

I look foreward to seeing you again on ABC as you bring another character to life. Hopefully, any show you're a part of will be even more successful than JAG.

Goood luck to you and your family and thank you for a wonderful ten years of entertainment.

    Sincerely,

I only started watching JAG with Adrift Pt 1. But I have since seen every episode, more than once. I love your chemistry with Catherine. Harm will sorely be missed. You are the picture of perfection of what a man in dress whites should look like! But that asside I wish you the best in all your future endevours. Good Luck!

  • Many Thanks David! -- Linda, 19:29:58 03/15/05 Tue [1]
David: Many thanks for the 10 years you portrayed Cmdr. Harmon Raab. JAG is the only program on TV other than weather and news that my husband and I regularly watch. You will be sorely missed. As many others have said, without you there is no JAG, so this is the final season we will watch. We are impressed with your devotion to family, which is missing in so many celebrity families. We wish you the best at ABC and hopefully we will see you in the fall lineup. CBS' lost is ABC's gain!

  • Thanks For The Memories -- Marie, 18:26:37 03/15/05 Tue [1]

I don't think Bob will mind a whole lot if I borrow his song:)
Unlike many of the posters here, I didn't watch Jag from the beginning. You seemed to be just too damn good-looking to be able to act. Before my mother passed away, while she was ill with cancer, I'd sit and keep her company while she watched TV. She always wanted to watch Jag, all the reruns on USA and the new ones on CBS. You won me over with the quality of your acting and the complete sincerity you brought to the role of Harmon Rabb Jr. In the hands of a lesser actor Harm would have been a cookie-cutter boy scout. You made him real. Thank you for all the sweat, effort and assorted body parts you sacrificed for your art and our enjoyment.
If my mom were still around she'd thank you as well. Not just because she enjoyed watching you and the show though.
You know how mothers are. They just love being right!!

David, I'd like to Thank You for giving us 10 spectacular seasons with JAG. Your special screen presence that you brought to us every week will be missed. Along with your moments of Humor and facial expressions that added that extra touch to your character.

I wish you much success in your new endeavours. Good Luck at ABC . Thanks for everything David, always remember, You're a class act.

  • Dear Mr. Elliott -- Susan, 17:34:24 03/15/05 Tue [1]
Thank you for 10 absolutely amazing years. It was through your ability and talent that a two dimensional character leapt off the screen and became such an integral part of our lives, you brought him to life. Harmon Rabb is the perfect example of what an officer and a gentleman should aspire to. Someone for whom words like honor, integrity, duty, loyalty, principles, morals, respect, courage, dignity, ethics, and commitment aren’t inconsequential things to be laid aside when inconvenient but to be embraced and lived every day of their lives. I know he was and will continue to be a role model for me and many other fans, just as you are and will continue to be.

Harmon Rabb is JAG. He is the heart, soul, and life of JAG. Just as you are the heart, soul, and life of JAG. With out Harmon Rabb and you, JAG is left with a gaping hole where its heart should be. I will be truly saddened when you leave at the end of this season. Your ability to express pages of dialog with a simple facial expression is a testament to your skill as an actor.

I am thrilled for you and your ABC/Touchstone deal. I know you will bring the same level of dedication, talent and skill to whatever new projects you take on as you have all your previous projects. Dodson’s Journey is a favorite DVD of mine to watch repeatedly. I can’t wait to see you in your next project. I will continue to follow your career with great interest and enjoyment.

May you and your family be blessed with continued health, happiness and prosperity.

Thank you again for your time, dedication and talent.

    Susan

  • Thank you, David -- Evie and Jacie, 15:38:32 03/15/05 Tue [1]
How does one say good-bye to someone who has been such a big part of one's life? We, Jacie and all the rest of the family, and me, Evie, will miss Mr. Rabb and the knowledge that no matter the odds, he will come through for his friends, his country and the United States Navy. We have no doubt that DJE is also of this caliber....honorable, loyal, true and brave. And therefore, we will follow you through the rest of your career and wish all God's blessings to you and Nanci (we always liked Singer LOL) and your beautiful children. Thank you, Sir!
PS...none of us are youngsters but, older people who treasure real special people. And you are one of them.
    Love,

Where do I start? How can you sum up 10 years with a thank-you? Harmon Rabb Jr. came to life because of you, you gave the character the spark and spunk to be the naval officier, the best friend, the fighter for the truth and so on. When the world went crazy you gave us the hero that we needed, you gave us a short time each week to forget our problems. For that I would like to say thank-you. I would also like to say thank-you to your wife and children for letting us borrow you for a short while. Your last episode of JAG will also be our last, but Harm will live with us for a long while.
Looking forward to your next project. Keep smiling. God bless, and once again Thank-you.

David, I wish you the best in your new adventure and am looking forward to seeing you in other projects. I have enjoyed your acting talent for the last ten years, in not only JAG but in other televised projects. As a Navy daughter, wife, and mother I want you to know that your portrayal of Harmon Rabb as a man who understands and lives the meaning of honor, integrity, ethics, commitment, and duty has been one of the most refreshing portrayals of the military on television. It is also obvious from interviews which I have read and seen that you are a man who understands and lives the meaning of family values and are a devoted and loving husband and father. The world needs more men such as you. Thank you for ten wonderful years of sharing your talent and I look forward to seeing you in future projects. Good luck and God Bless You.

  • Thanks you for the Role Model -- CMDR. Tom, 09:39:06 03/15/05 Tue [1]
    Mr. Elliott:

I just wanted to be one of the many people to say, “THANK YOU”. Every actor brings apart of themselves to a character they build on the screen…be it TV or movies. However, it seems to me that the person, David James Elliott is also very much the character we see each week on JAG.
Having served in the Navy myself, as an officer, I am proud to see the character of Cmdr. Harmon Rabb, Jr., brought to life by you. The character you have presented shows us what honor, integrity, courage and respect are all about. It was about doing the right things, to the best of your ability, everyday…all day
I am one who seldom watches TV, but when my daughter asked me technical questions about the program, several years ago, I began to watch with her. It was so refreshing to see a program with such a positive approach to the Navy, that all too often, gets headlines only if there is a scandal. So we have watched you, and “your” character, continue the roll model you have developed each week since. While both of us are sad to see that you will no longer be part of the show, I am particularly sad that a role model, not just for young men, but also young ladies, will no longer be available to them. Your character shows them how to respect people, especially women, as well as what it means to keep your word and not to make promises you can’t keep.
As for me; “Thanks for the memories”. Thanks for the reminders of all the years spent in the Navy, and the time spent on a carrier and out to sea. How well I remember the smell of jet fuel, and carrier landings while trying to sleep. (LOL) I would not trade them for anything. It has given me a renewed objective to share all those things with my children and grandchildren.
I don’t ever remember a TV show or movie that ever left me with an emptiness, as you leaving has and will bring. When the season finally closes, it will be the last chapter for us too. We look forward to maybe seeing you in other ventures. Keep in touch with all of us on the screen, and remind us why we followed you for so many years. You are such a great person.
One last big “THANK YOU”, to your wife, Nanci. Thank you for standing with David as each week he gave to millions of viewers. Thank you for the sacrifice that a lot of us don’t realize a family gives as these shows are put together. He would not have been able to do it without you. You are one of the “unsung heroes”, behind the man. It takes someone special to hold the family together while he is gone for so many hours of each day.
Well, I have gone on enough. I could probably continue for many pages about you and what you gave us. I hope this “Thank You” board gives you some idea. I hope we can meet some day so I can thank you in person. But, until that time; God Bless you and your family. Safe landings...”Commander”! We salute you!

    Cmdr. Tom

Wow! You are an amazing actor and I have to say that, without you, JAG will be JAG no more. I, along with many other DJE fans, will not be watching the show without you, even if it is renewed for another season. Good look with your ABC venture - can't wait!

All the best to you and your family,

  • David, -- Colleen G. St. Louis, MO, 08:15:27 03/15/05 Tue [1]
I can’t begin to express how much I have enjoyed watching your portrayal of Harmon Rabb Jr. Harm is a wonderful character to begin with, but you brought so much expression, personality and charm to him that I couldn’t help but tune in week after week....year after year. That will end when Harm isn’t on the show. Harm, to me, is the show.

I’m grateful for the flawed person and upstanding military officer Harm represented, and I am so sad to see that end. Decency and morals are lacking in entertainment. Fair portrayal of our service men and women is rarely seen. I can’t begin to express what it means to me that Harm was portrayed with honor and respect. While Harm was just a character on television, he was one that you wouldn’t be afraid to leave children in the presence of while you were out of the room.

I could go on about the things I love about Harm, but all of those things are because of you. You brought him to life and made him seem so real. Thank you for bringing Harm into our home for ten wonderful years in such a wonderful fashion.

While I can’t believe that I won’t have ‘new Harm’ to look forward to in the fall, I am very much looking forward to your endeavors with ABC. I wish you and your family true happiness. May God bless you.

    Bravo Zulu!

    Dear Mr. Elliott,
A heartfelt thank you for giving us 10 wonderful years as Harmon Rabb Jr. Thank you for using your talent to bring this complex character to life and into our homes every week and for making us care about Harm. Your have portrayed him like no one else could, giving him honor, dignity, and integrity...a true gentleman.

My how the time flies. It has been quite an adventure. Thank you for entertaining us. Harm will be truly missed.

Thank you David for bringing "Harmon Rabb" to life and for 10 unforgetable years. Jag has come into my home since the beginning and has never failed to be entertaining, with exception of the last several episodes that you were so infrequently featured. I must admit that I will be leaving the show when you do. The character you've exhibited over the years in protraying Harm, both as a pilot, lawyer and human being, has made the show a success, which I know will be lost in your absence. I look forword to seeing you again on ABC very soon. Please don't leave us for very long. All your fans will be missing you!

    Dearest David,

Last week I saw you at the set and you stunned me with your presence. To finally see you for real had been a long time dream and I drank in whatever I could. You sure have a major presence at the set and it is hard not to notice you.
I am 150% sure that that presence will be a miss by everyone.

I wish I had the chance last Tuesday (8 March 2005)to say to you in person how much your character has meant to me over the years. Thank you for those awesome 10 years as Harmon Rabb, Jr just doesn't seem to be enough. However, 'thank you' is as much as I can say, I guess.

Harmon Rabb has become a person in my life, an anchor in those bad moments, a savior and dream to look forward to whenever a new episode aired. A character that could life my heart when I was down, a character that made me shiver with anticipation and laugh at when he pulled another antic.

To say I will miss seeing Harmon Rabb on my screen is an understatement but I will keep my eyes open at the reruns and hope to see you soon in another show/movie.

Thank you for being you, thank you for coming on my screen way back in the early '90s, thank you for being the amazing character Harmon Rabb, thank you for being in my life and make my life bearable at those hard moments. Thank you for seeing me at the set last week. You made one of my dreams come true.

Thank you so very very much, David!

JAG will lose a great person, an incredible character. You will be very missed. I am glad I got to tell you that when I was at the set. Because you will. Very much so.

    Good luck on ABC!

Much love, hugs and a kiss,
    "Fair winds and Following Seas"

Just want to add my thanks and good wishes to you and your beautiful family to all of those above. JAG won't be the same without you; and, I too shall join the numerous fans who will no longer watch the show. Will think of CDR Harmon Rabb, Jr., USN often -- live approx. five miles from NAS Oceana and hear the roar of the jets constantly, or as an old CO once said to my unit, "The sound of freedom." Have taken to calling all of the pilots "Hammer". Again, fair winds and following seas. Oh, almost forgot. My 87-year old mother has been arranging her social life around HER "Harm" for all these many years. LOL

Series television is the toughest acting gig there is. Long days, longer nights, scenes shot out of order, pages constantly revised, seemingly endless takes, action shots too close to use a stunt man, and the only audience you get is that camera lens that follows you around, along with a crew focused on getting their piece right, not on the story or on you – the actor. The distractions are constant. For a guy who learned his craft on the boards, playing to a hushed and attentive live audience, that transition is tough.
You infused vibrant life into a character that could so easily have been ridiculous. You developed a loyal fan base not because the stories were brilliant (some of them were laughable in their absurdity), but because you embodied in the role of Harm all those attributes we so long for in our heroes.
As you know, you tapped into a wellspring of support with viewers who either had direct military experience, or had loved ones in the service at some point in their lives. Not once during your decade of portraying our favorite Naval officer did you ever do a single thing to bring anything but honor to the image of those who have served our republic since her founding. For that we are profoundly grateful. It was a gift beyond price.
    Thank you.

Thank you for ten years of Harmon Rabb, Jr - our hero. I look back at the first year episodes and marvel at how far the show has evolved and most of all how the character of Harm has evolved. The basics were always there - champion of men, women and children alike - but the character of Harm has taken all of those experiences and grown to be the Harmon Rabb your fans always knew you would be. Your dedication to the character and to JAG was very evident. I confess to being a die-hard Harm/Mac shipper and will stay so until the end. I wish you the best of luck in your new endeavors and hope they will be as successful as the past ten years. Looking forward to seeing you on ABC.

Mere words seem to fail me in thanking you for ten wonderful years of making Harmon Rabb, Jr., come alive for us each week. The genuineness, sincerity, and soulfulness with which you consistently portray this character speak not only to your incredible talent as an actor, but your commitment to making this character ring true, flaws and all, with each look and action on the screen. I've never seen you "call in" a performance. You are there 100% of the time, all the time. I have rooted for Harm, cried with him, laughed and smiled with him, and understood his passion for "seeking the truth," because you so passionately made it all real for us. That's what great acting is, in my opinion, and it has been a pleasure to follow Harm's adventures throughout it all. Whatever the end holds, I'll be there through the finale (Harm's at least, as well as your last appearance). Although I can't support the direction things seem to be taking story-wise, and feel that you, as an actor and a professional who has put this series on the "map" for the past ten years, have been treated with the utmost of unprofessionalism on the part of the producer, I hope against hope that in spite of what we are being led to believe, that things will turn out well for Harm's character. I pledge devotion to your portrayal for each more minute that we have the pleasure of riding out Harm's story. You have been and will always be in so many minds "the heart and soul" of JAG, as we've known it, and when people look back on this long-running series many years from now, they will always remember you and your portrayal of Harm at its center. I am excited about the opportunity you are pursuing with ABC/Touchtone, and can only hope that you are given a project that is worthy of your talent and abilities, and that we have the chance to follow your future endeavors on the screen and off with all the same pleasure you have given us in JAG. Best of luck to you and to your family in your new venture, and know that you have many fans who will follow you and your work in whatever direction you take. I have friends who met you briefly year before last during your personal appearance in the Lance Armstrong Bike Race in Austin. You were registering for the race at the time, and whipped out your checkbook to give an additional donation so that you could get a "coveted" yellow shirt to wear in the race. Your daughter was with you at the time, and my friends reported your kindness to them (you greeted them, and gave an autograph) and as they observed you, to others, while also noting your thoughtfulness and obvious affection and love for your daughter. They have only confirmed what I think all DJE fans know in their hearts...that you are not only a talented, magnetic actor, but a classy, down-to-earth guy in "real life" whose heart lies with his family and in many efforts to give back to his community. Thanks again, David, for such a stupendous ten years!!!! To say "you will be missed" is a vast undertatement. Don't make it too long before we can see you post-JAG!

Just wanted to send my best wishes to you. JAG has been the only show I have watched on TV for the last five years. After my mom died, I started spending more time with my Dad. My Dad was already hooked on JAG and JAG became a starting point of developing a friendship with him. For the past five years, we have watched nearly every episode together. Thank you for being Harmon Rabb and for helping me to get closer to my Dad. We don't know what we will do after this season ends, but we do know we won't be watching JAG!!

  • Thank you David ! -- Althéa d’Uberville - for members of “jag-en-ligne” - (Translated by Brigitte), 09:05:32 03/13/05 Sun [1]
Thank you for those ten years of emotion, from doubt to anguish, from fear to shiver, from smile to laugh.

Thank you for all the light and sparkling moments of comedy, all of them instants of sheer delight !
(Was not « Mister Rabb goes to Washington » more alike « Mr Smith goes to Washington » as you
appear to be the spiritual son of James Stewart or Cary Grant ?)

Thank you for the sad, dramatic, touching scenes, which sometimes brought tears in our eyes.

Thank you for action or court scenes which helped us escape from our allday life.

Thank you for your unwavering faithfulness to "our hero".

Thank you for having brought to life Harmon Rabb jr in such a great way, this brilliant, honest, merciless officer whose failures at the same time were so human.

Thank you for having shared with him in such a generous way your charism and your seduction.

Thank you for this bridge between North America and Europe you built which linked us each week, each year, sharing the same wait and the same doubts between two seasons, sharing the same wish to know about the new adventures of Harm at JAG, sharing the same pleasure of gazing at his inimitable smile.

Thank you especially for letting me believe so long that Harm's little glance at the end of the opening credits was just aimed at me … just like thousands of women all around the world thought the same way !

Thank you David James Elliott for being this brilliant actor, sensitive, honnest with the characters he portrays and honest with his public.

Thank you for having moved us so often, for having taken us over tears, over laugh, simply... over the rainbow ...

So at this so hard moment when we have to say goodbye to Harmon Rabb jr, we wish you, David, a
long and happy carreer following the track you will choose, may it be acting, producing or directing.

Where you will go, we will follow you. Where you will go, we will support you, discreet witnesses (Sometimes too discreet, maybe ? You were right... ), but caring and loyal witnesses. And we will be there, even if we honestly prefer you will not hide forever your fabulous smile behind a camera .... or in a luxurious air-conditioned office.

Be kind enough to say goodbye to Harm for us, a goodbye from France, from first day fans…
There will be a "before JAG" and an "after JAG" in each of our lives, just like in yours.

Happily, as heroes never die, his golden wings will shine forever in a sky as blue as his eyes.
Commander Harmon Rabb jr will fly forever in our memories.

David, thank you for this wonderful dream …

I just want to thank you for the wonderful job you did in portraying Harmon Rabb. I will to continue to watch until the end of this season as I was a loyal fan for 9 years and very seldom miss the re-runs on USA. Can't believe what the "Producer" is doing to the show. I wish you all the best on ABC and hope to see you in the fall hopefully slotted against one of the "Producer" shows.

Two little words---eight letters......Not nearly enough to get the point across...David, I am so proud of you. You took the "bare-bones" skeleton of the character "Harmon Rabb Jr." and turned him into a warm, caring individual that we were interested in....Interested enough to keep coming back week after week for TEN YEARS to watch the story unfold...There are not too many actors that could have that effect on their fanbase.....The..."new"...guy has my sympathy...He will have to run hard to try to catch up----but I do not think that he can cut it....Thank you, love...its been a terrific ride....Sit back and enjoy yourself for a few minutes before you start working again....Its great to see you smiling....Thats at least 2000 candle power when you really turn it on full....Always and forever..............Another fan from Colorado

I wonder if you realize how powerful your portrayal of Harm for ten years was, not only in terms of great acting, but in terms of bringing together people from all over the world who now have lasting friendships due to watching you!! I never thought I would know someone, let alone be friends with, people from England, Belgium, France, Isreal, Australia, Canada...etc, but thanks to you I do!

Your sexiness, great looks, and ( for me, those eyes and voice)got a lot of us started on Jag, but it was your portrayal of such a wonderful character, and your "peeling another layer" of his character every year, that kept us tuned in every week. I think you are so underated as an actor. Your dramatic skills were showcased from the very start with your portrayal of Harm in " The Prisoner" the first year, and continued with so many good episodes, too many to name...but AdriftI & II, Gypsy Eyes, and scenes like your closing in Jagathon, come to mind. Jagathon also reminds me how good you are comedic wise too, along with other great episodes like Code Blue and Wedding Bell Blues!

I know you had a great cast of actors to work with thru your years of Jag, and I wish them well...but you and "Harm" were Jag to me, and without you, there will be no more Jag for this fan. You will be sorely missed.

I wish great success for you at ABC and hope they come up with another great role to showcase your talents. You have said in the past you enjoy directing also, and you've done a great job in the episodes you've directed at Jag, but please don't stay behind the camera too much...you belong in front of one!!!

Last, on a more personal note, I have to thank you for being such a gracious person and actor. I had the privilege of meeting you at the Bob Hope Golf tournament a few years ago, and I could not get over how friendly you were to all the fans that wanted to talk to you, shake your hand, get an autograph etc. I'm sure it can get old after awhile, especially when playing the game of golf... but you never ceased to be kind...and I will keep that wonderful lasting memory forever with me.

I wish you, and your family, continued happiness and success in the coming years in your personal life, and in your new job at ABC.

    Thanks

Thank you, David James Elliott, for ten years of portraying Harm in JAG. You brought to life a wonderful and complex character who will not be forgotten anytime soon (nor will those fantastic facial expressions—some of them are just priceless memories). Thank you also for the preparation and training you do for and your participation in marathons and triathlons: you are setting a wonderful example of how important and rewarding it is for men and women in all age groups to keep physically fit and to continually challenge ourselves mentally and physically. I wish you every success in your future endeavors and will look forward to the day when we see your name in the credits as an actor, director, producer, or writer for an ABC show. David, I wish you nothing but happiness as you go forward in your venture with ABC. CBS will be losing a wonderful character from the best show on TV.
I didn't watch JAG from the beginning, but after season 5, I was hooked. From that moment, I went back and watched and taped every rerun available and got to know "Harm". Your portrayal of an officer and a true gentlemen has touched so many lives around the world. I don't think that they will ever be able to match the character that you brought to life.
Truth,Honor,Decency and Integrity was lost on all other TV shows. You sir, brought those characteristics to the forefront and brought them to life in character named "Harmon Rabb Jr."
JAG will not be the same without you because Harm is JAG. Thank you for your 10 years of service to all of your fans.

    David-
Uncertain how to start this as this is the first fan letter I've ever written in 44 years of life.. My mom and dad started watching JAG years ago, and fell in love with the show and the characters.. For my dad, it was a trip down 'memory lane' of sorts, since he had served on ships in the Navy during WWII and Korea. JAG brought him much happiness through the years of his struggle with heart disease, and gave us something we could connect over. It's a blessing when television can do that.. My mom continued the ritual on Tuesday (then Friday) after dad was gone, and it gives her and I something special to talk about every week. Mom 'LOVES' Harm, and she was as sad to hear about your departure from the show as I was... (It even broke my 14 year old daughter's heart..she thinks Harm is hot, 'even for an old guy'... I'd agree (except for the 'old guy' part..) You've done more than merely entertain us over these last 10 years, and there will never be another show quite like JAG, nor another character quite like Harmon Rabb, Jr.! In the immortal words of Bob Hope, thanks for the memories!!
All the best to you and your family in your new endeavors.
    Smooth Sailing, Sir!

I am a fan of yours for quite some time, since Street Legal and The Untouchables. JAG have been a staple in our home for the last 10 years. Your portrayal of Harm really impressed me in the pilot episode. He is this young, cocky aviator and lawyer who is smart, hot headed and resouceful, yet has a vulnerable side. I was most disappointed when JAG was cut from NBC after the first season, and now 10 years later, I am sad to see you leaving the show on CBS. However, 'moving on' is not such a bad thing. As one door closes, another opens. I am looking forward to seeing you in other interesting and challenging projects in not too distant future. Thank you for the years of entertainment you have provided us, and hoping for many more years to come.

Fair winds and following seas, Commander.
Best wishes to your family, and wishing you the very best with your future endeavours, DJE.

Your respect of the military and your intelligence shine through in your portrayal of Harm. Your directing skills brought me two of my favorite eps, "Lifeline" and "Take It Like A Man." Dear David,

I want to thank you for your portrayal of "Harmon Rabb, Jr.", for the last 10 years. I started watching in season 2 and immediately became a fan of David James Elliott. I started searching for everything I could find in which you appeared.

"JAG" will not be the same without you, because as far as I am concerned, Harm *is* "JAG" and David James Elliott is the only one that can play that role or be the lead actor of "JAG." If there is a season 11, I won't be around for it without you in it.

I had the great privilege of meeting you on the set of "JAG" 3 years ago. That was probably the greatest thrill of my life. You were so gracious and made us (my family) feel so welcome. Thank you for that.

I hope ABC has a starring role for you very soon so that you will not be gone from our living rooms for very long.

Thank your family for me, for sharing you with your fans. We appreciate it so much. God bless you and your family.

Thank you for sharing your abundant talent with us. I will be anxiously awaiting your next appearance.

    Mr. Elliott,
Truthfully, there is no JAG without you.
I've never been a fan of the series. Never even watched an episode until 2003. After seeing an interview with you on Entertainment Tonight, I finally caved in and watched. Please understand that it was you that drew me in, and kept me watching, mesmerized. Certainly not the series. As the daughter and wife of Navy, and having been Navy myself, for me the show was little more than a weekly distraction. You, however, breathed life into a character and made him something more than another talking head on another military television show. You gave Harmon Rabb the very best attributes all Naval men--officer and enlisted alike--should aspire to. Honor, courage, strength of character, tenacity, intelligence and heart. Thank you for that, and the inspiration you’ve been. Rest assured, whatever your future projects might be, my prayers and deepest respect goes with you.
    God speed and God Bless,
    Jacqui L. Landry

Thank you David for 10 fantastic years on JAG. My husband and I are 71 years old, and our kids/grandkids know if they call or come during Jag (new or reruns) that they will watch it with us. The show has been a wonderful constant in our lives. It's pretty bad when our 2 yr old grandson knows about what time it will be on and says " JAG, JAG." We tape every episode so we'll be able to continue our tradition. You truly honor the military in your portrayl of Harm, and I have learned so much and understand better about the present conflict in Irag because of JAG. The other viewers who have already posted have expressed all the sentiments we feel. We will miss you so much, but wish you all the best for you and your family.

I've enjoyed the highs and lows that Harm has endured and how wonderfully you have made them so "real" for us. Losing you and Harm will leave a big hole in Friday nights. What you have done for so many people in so many places is almost overwhelming. In your portrayal of 'Harm,' you have probably done as much for the appreciation of the decency and honor of the American military man, among the scattered places where you have so many fans, as any documentary that might be put out by our state department. Congratulations on such a feeling, honest creation of this man of honor and great integrity. What will we do without the on-going adventures of our hero? Dropping out of a helicoptor over Bosnia to rescue a downed fellow pilot will never again be as exciting. It has been 'a privilege and an honor' to watch you/Harm mature with such style. JAG may continue, but without me. Without David/Harm there is no JAG. When my life began a downward spiral with the impending death of my youngest child, JAG became my escape hatch and has remained so until now.
Your future is out there and I hope it will be all that you would want it to be. "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Heb. 11.1
Go rescue the Admiral(Locke), he could use your dering do on that Island where he's 'Lost.' You've done it before. Just a thought. Please don't stay away from us for long, I'm 79 and I'd like to hang in there with you at least until I'm 99.

Thank you, David, for ten wonderful years of being “in Harm’s way”.

You took the script pages and brought Harmon Rabb, Jr. to life like no else could have. You gave us viewers the heart and soul of this character, truly a rarity in most of today’s shallow TV programming.

Because of your skill and hard work, I not only admired a dashing, handsome Naval Commander, but was captivated by Harm’s sensitivity, intensity, emotion and passion. Right along with Harm, I laughed, I cried, I agonized, I empathized, and I hoped. And of course, I fell in love with Harm, and will miss him and your portrayal of him very much.

Best wishes to you and your family. I, along with many other fans, will continue to follow your career and look forward to watching you soon bring a new role to life.

    Dear David,

I can’t tell you how sad I am to hear that you’ll no longer be on JAG after this season. There’s only been a few television shows throughout the years that I just CAN’T miss and JAG has been one of them (and YOU are one of the main reasons). While I don’t know the circumstances surrounding your departure from JAG, please know that you WILL be missed. I hope you know that it just won’t be JAG without you!

I’ve learned a little about the military by watching JAG and have enjoyed the admirable qualities of Harmon Rabb, Jr. Aside from being tall, dark and handsome, you brought “Harm” to life for us and I thank you for ten wonderful years.

The “shippers” are so worried we won’t get the “happily ever after” kind of ending we all want for Harm and Mac. If we do get that ending, we’ll be ecstatic. If not, we’ll be heartbroken. In either case, I thought I’d put this bug in your ear and ask that if you and Catherine Bell ever have the chance to do a movie together, preferably a romantic comedy, please do it. Even though you wouldn’t be portraying your characters from JAG, you both have such wonderful on-screen chemistry between you, I think we’d all be happy to see you two working together again.

I hope you’ll be happy and enormously successful at ABC and I’ll be watching for you! Good luck in your career and please take care of yourself and your lovely family! Thanks again! Susie

Dear Mr. Elliott, I haven't written to an actor since I asked Gene Autry for an autograped picture, but I had to write you to express my appreciation of what you have given me in the past 10 years. You developed a character into someone we welcomed into our homes and were proud to have representing our country. Your talent took a fictional person and made him into someone that showed integrity, honor, loyalty and humor. You have displayed those same values in your life and to your family. Our best wishes to your family in the future.

I just want to add my thanks to the many you've already received for a memorable 10 years as our Commander Harmon Rabb, Jr. I marveled at Harm's skill and bravery. I admired Harm's positively unrelenting pursuit of truth. Harm's boyish, friendly grin always warmed my heart. You brought this all to life every week: an honest-to-goodness modern day hero! We don't see many of those on TV these days. You can be very proud that you gave to our youth a positive role model.

Change isn't easy and I will miss you so much on JAG. However, I eagerly anticipate a new beginning for you on ABC. I'll be watching! God Bless You and your wonderful family.

The many small things you added to Harm were what made so many of his moments shine, held the belief in the JAG family together, and have made him an unforgettable character to me and so many others. That is no small accomplishment, and I know that is only a portion of what you are capable of.

I wish you much success with your new ventures and, more importantly, much vacation time in the Bahamas with natural fabrics!

You breathed life into a fictional hero that over the years has inspired many. No one could have done it so well. My interest in JAG led me to the internet where I found the online fan community. I didn't expect to find wonderful people who would become real friends. We have shared so much over the past years and supported each other with the common thread of JAG always keeping us together. So thank you for making Harm the kind of hero that brought so many friends together to laugh and discuss and become a cyber- family. For most fans Harm is JAG and with no Harm there is no JAG. I wish you luck in your career and happiness for you and your lovely family.

There are so many people that are more eloquent than me and can convey their feelings better than I. I don't watch alot of main stream television, but I have watched JAG every Tuesday and Friday night since season one. The reason I watched was you. The character "you" created has been in my living room so often, that my husband said he was going to start charging you rent.
The character may be written by writers, but only you could have brought that character to life. You made Harmon Rabb who he was, not the writers nor the creator. It was your skills as an actor, never think otherwise. When I think of JAG, I think of you and that fantastic smile. JAG ends for me at the end of season ten. JAG = Harmon Raab. There is no JAG without you.
Thank you for ten years of entertainment. I wish you the best and am looking forward to your new association with ABC.

  • Dear David, -- Heather K, Lynchburg VA, 11:09:54 03/04/05 Fri [1]

What a difference a decade makes. Ten years ago, the military was ignored by scripted prime-time television. Ten years ago, there were no television characters that portrayed the military in a positive light. Ten years ago, there was no Harmon Rabb, Jr. Then one day, you stepped into Harm's shoes and gave him life, and our cultural landscape was forever altered for the good.

An Officer and a Gentleman, indeed, Harm embodies all the best of the Navy, and all of our armed services. Commitment to Duty, Honor, Country, and Truth - these qualities are in short supply in pop culture, yet Harm brought them to the screen every week with heartfelt honesty. We identify with Harm - his struggles and joys - and we see in him a role model we can proudly point out to our children.

Harm would not have been the same person if it were not for you, David. The basic goodness in your heart shines in Harm's eyes, and I am proud to be a fan both of you and the great character you developed over the years. Over those years I laughed, cried, worried and cheered with and for Harm as he sought the Truth and helped those in need. So it is with bittersweet emotion that I write this thank you message. I have loved watching Harm/JAG for 10 years, and am so sad to know he will no longer make his weekly visits to my living room.

During this change in your career, I hope you will remember how much your fans love you and wish you well. And wherever you turn up on my tv dial, I'll be tuning in.

Fair winds and following seas as you "unceasingly strive upward." God Bless.

Thank you for 10 years of watching a character grow, change, and become more interesting each episode. To me, JAG from the first was about Harmon Rabb, Jr. and still is.

I wish you further success in your career and chances to do many varied roles.

Thank-you for 10 years of true devotion and professionalism. Your thoughtful and talented portrayal of Harmon Rabb,Jr. brought much laughter, tears and joy to my life. I appreciate all the long days and personal sacrifices you endured to make JAG its best. In this day and age, it was so refreshing and rare to see such an admirable character brought to life on the little screen. You once said, concerning your life's ambitions that, "I just want to be the best husband, father and actor that I can be.".......Well, you have shown those qualities over and over again. I pray that God continues to bless you and your family. Thanks again for the memories (I have them all on tape) and I am looking forward to seeing you in your next project. Sincerely, Cora

  • David James Elliott, thank you. -- J. MacLellan, 08:22:52 03/04/05 Fri [1]
Thank you for your protrayal of Commander Harmon Rabb, Jr. When my husband passed away in March of 2002, one of our sons told me I should look at the series JAG as the star reminded him of his father. I did, and yes, warching Commander Rabb, there were a number of similarities, height, the walk, and the respect for the Navy and the military, the sincerity and the caring manner. So I watched, found reruns of the earlier episodes and pieced together the story of Cdr. Rabb. It pulled me through some really lonely nights and odd hours of those first months and then a year, and now just about three years. Rabb was a great character. Watching these fictional stories and people, one wonders what the real person is like. It is the person I wish to thank, sent best wishes to, and good luck to, and express the hope that you will appear again before or behind the camera, to entertain us, to encourage us to think, to learn and above all to care. The ability to portray caring, so much of it in the eyes and the facial expressions, came from within the real person, David Elliott, and for that, and the hours of good television, thank you. sincerely.

Thank you for your outstanding contribution to "JAG" over the past 10 years. Without your excellent portrayal of the character of Harm over the 10 years the show would not have been the success it has been. I wish you all the best in your future ventures.

    Thank you David James Elliott!

You took a fictional character and brought it to life for so many of us. With all that is going on around us JAG was a welcome escape. JAG was a ritual in our neighborhood for all these years. We would exchange houses, invite adults and children ("family night"). During these last 10 years, babies were born, weddings took place and there were losses. With all the ups and downs there was always the same question: What's coming up on JAG next week. We loved all the ensemble cast, but Harm was JAG to us. We will miss Harm, but look forward to DJE in front or behind camera. Wishing you, Nancy & Family the best. God Bless & Thank you again, Elizabeth

    David;
I just want to say that you make the perfect wrap up my evenings as I watch the life of Harmon Rabb Jr. unfold. I smile when he smiles, catch my breath when he is in danger, and, yes, get jealous when he gets the woman!
YOU made JAG what it is and it will die without you. Regardless, I look so very forward to what you have in store for your many fans in the future.
Thank you so much for adding so much joy to so many lives.

  • David: Thank You So Much! -- Sue T., 20:58:37 03/03/05 Thu [1]
Yes I know someone created the character of Harmon Rabb Jr., and someone wrote the stories, and someone directed the episodes but it was David James Elliott who made the character alive and real. Without your talents the creator, the writer, and the director would have been lost. I truly feel that you worked to make Harm as real and human as possible. I also believe that without your dedication to hard work this show would not have made it to ten years. The Navy and the country should be very proud of the character you so nobly portrayed. Harm was there in a time when our country needed him the most. The show may go on but without David James Elliott as Harmon Rabb it will never be Jag. I wish you the best of luck at ABC and whatever else you do. Your talent is always welcome and I look forward to seeing you soon. You will be missed while you are TAD. Come back to us. We'll be waiting.

    Dear David,

Yes, you will surely be missed. I to am one of those fans who will no longer be watching JAG after you leave. I started watching after season 7 but have seen many of the re-runs of earlyer shows on USA. Harm and Mac will live on in my heart even if they are no longer a weekly event on my televison screen. Thanks for the good, the happy, the sad, times that watching your show has given me. Thanks for the weekly repreave from the grunges of everyday life you have given me through JAG. Yes, my husbands swears that I am addicted and that sometimes I love you more then him. But that's okay becouse he has no idea the outlet you have provided for me.

I hope whatever you do over on ABC will be as good as what you've done on JAG over the last ten years. Good luck and I hope your next endevor goes for at least another ten. Looking forword to seeing you next year on ABC.

David, you are the best. I have all your movies and all the 10 seasons on tape. Hubby was an aviator and we both enjoyed the show so much. The more flying the better. Best of everything for the future. You deserve it. What will I do without that smile and those wonderful eyes? Thanks again. Katie, a very spry 81 years young gal.

You have really done a wonderful job with a career you never expected to be in at first. I am very proud of you, not only have you brought happiness to so many people, you have become such a wonderful talent. I am proud to call myself a fan and I will miss you each week on t.v., however I do look forward to your work on ABC, you can expand your talents and do even more.

And from JAG I have learned so much more about the military, I have so much more respect than I did in the past.

Its sad to see you leave, you made that show, giving it personality and depth. You will be missed by all, thank you again for everything David. I wish you and your family much happiness, enjoy your life to the fullest!!

  • Mr. Elliott - - Though someone else "created" Harmon Rabb, it was you and your unique qualities that fleshed him out into the decent, honorable, honest character that he was. You've brought respect back to those who wear the Military uniform. For that and for 10 yrs.of pretty much family oriented viewing, we thank you. We wish you and your lovely family the very best of luck with your new venture and will be watching for you in front of or behind the camera. -- Cherie from Minnesota, 13:59:57 03/03/05 Thu [1]

    Dear David (Harm):

    Saying goodbye-
    Why is it sad
Makes us remember the good times we had...

All of us women fell in love with a handsome, dress whites/gold wings wearing Naval Commander named Harmon Rabb,Jr. But me-it was your gift of bringing Harm to life and for 1 hour a week; my screen name was created by a US Navy pilot and others in a chat room, because I talked about JAG and THE THREE MUSKETTERS. How was I to know fans of JAG were everywhere???? I know-it was because of the cast, crew and talented writers.

David, you,Nancy and the kids are going on a new journey-wish I could say THANKS in person to you for being there at JAG and to Nancy for sharing you with everyone.

Better get ready to go shopping for my books...I'm going to LAW SCHOOL(and I give my uncle, you and your portrayal, credit for helping me make that decision).

...we never say goodbye...just see ya at the next posting...(from SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON John Wayne).
    Thanks for ALL the memories.

I was so sad and confused when I went to check some of my favourite boards a few weeks ago. I didn't quite understand what was going on, but little by little I got the picture. I have watched JAG for many years now and Harm has always been my favourite character. If the show continues on, I will definitely miss him. Harmon Rabb jr. is JAG for me. Here in Sweden we are about a year behind the US so I guess I will have to take comfort in being able to watch you on JAG for another year at least. Thank You for ten wonderful years and good luck at ABC!

    Dear Mr.Elliott,
When I found out you were not going to be on Jag any more,I was really upset and unhappy.I have watched you ever since the show started, but if your not on it I will not watch it any more.I think you are what makes the show so good,so without you there is no reason to watch it.I hope to see you on something else real soon, watching you makes me happy.I know something was up,when you weren't on the show much here lately. But when I found out for sure,it really hit me hard. What am I going to do without Harm every week, not much else to look forward too.Thank you for makeing me feel good all these years, you are the best in everything you do.Your smile and your eyes are just a few things that I will miss, but then again everything about you makes me happy.

Mr. Elliott, thank you for your wonderful portrayal of today's military. I know that it is tv and things were a little off tangent, but for the most part it was done well. Having grown up in the military, and about to enter the Navy myself, I commend you. I truly believe that without you JAG would not have lasted nearly the length that it has. Ms. Bell and the others have helped the show, but you are the reason we watch. As a young person in today's society I have learned much about life, life in the military and life in general, through your portrayal of Harm, and of you as a person, David. I will continue to watch our favorite military law show, but it will never be the same. Thank God for syndication.
God Bless, and best wishes for you and your family. Thank you for letting us be part of your life, and you part of ours.

Thank you so much for your strong, wonderful portrayal of Harm all these years on JAG! There is so little on night-time television that I let my son watch, but JAG has always been a show he and I watch together, ever since he became old enough to understand it. "Harm" has inspired my son, who is nearly 9, to aspire to attending the Naval Academy and then a career in the Navy as a lawyer, perhaps. (He scores very high in the area of maps and graphs on achievement tests, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him end up a navigation officer on a ship). I will miss Harm on JAG, but I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors. You are truly a gifted actor!

I have never written a fan letter before, but I had to let you know how much a part of my life you have become. Thank you for your wonderful performance as Harm. Your kindness, compassion, sense of humor made you a real person to many of us. I am going to miss you, but I have some favorite tapes that I play often. It seems that I can't go to bed without watching one of my tapes, even though some nights there have been two episodes on USA. My husband says he can't even talk to me when JAG is on. I wish you well in your new endeavors & will follow you as much as possible. By the way I taped Holiday Affair & watch that even though it is not the Christmas season. There will be no more Jag for me at the end if this season, because without you there is no JAG. By the way I am a woman in my middle seventies, & you have captured my heart. Good luck. We were very lucky to have 10 years & can still watch the reruns on USA.
