Pike does make some good comments, but he is also forgetting about the smaller clubs like Alton Town that don't pay their players a penny. When he got Gosport promoted his wage bills would of been 15 times more than theirs and probably other clubs too!!!
Are Alton the only club in the Wessex League that don't have wage bills or are there other too?
I think he is right in saying that there are a lot of players on silly money at the bigger clubs and it does stop them from taking the next step. But again he is forgetting about the small clubs that have to rely on players and managers that do it for the love of football and playing for their local club. So why he is contemplating his FULL time contract maybe he should be thinking about some of his comments and not how much they are going to pay him!!
If every team had x amount to spend on wages or nothing like some in the league it would be a different story not a case of who has the most to spend on attracting big time players.
If a couple of teams do get promoted wont a couple also be relageted from the leage above to keep the standard the same?
