He stared out the window, letting out a soft breath. "She was the one that I could never get to, you know? All the other girls, they've broken down about what they went through but Lysia, I just heard it through the grapevine what she went through...she was a bit different then the others though...she had good parents when she was younger, till she was seven or so and then they were murdered in front of her...I guess she ran away...hid out for a while and then made her way the only way any of us knew how...stealing what we could and getting money anyway we knew how..." He shook his head, a slightly bittersweet smirk on his face. "I remember the first day she came into Juvi, all attitude and cockiness...but then we found out how soft she really could be...always standing up for the ones who were picked on...she could kick the shit out of half the guys." He let out a soft breath, quiet for a long moment. "You didn't fuck things up...it wasn't your fault she was sixteen, it wasn't hers either. At least you gave her some happiness for awhile.."

He didn't look at Joey the whole time he was talking because as it was, he could hardly see the road through the mist coating his dark eyes. Breathing out a low, hoarse sigh, he shook his head again and slowed as he entered their neighborhood, blinking rapidly. "I still can't believe this... I could have done more..."
