• She was awake, but hadn't moved yet. It was hot outside, she could tell, and so she was reluctant to leave the cool, quiet peace of his bedroom. Sometime that morning, after he had left, she had kicked off all the blankets but the top sheet and wrestled off her skirt so that she was curled up much more comfortably in a tank top and boycut underwear, beneath the light cover, and nestled into the corner of the bed, surrounded by pillows. By the time he returned, she had only been awake for twenty minutes or so, and so was still fighting through that sleepy fuzz that went along with a rest that lasted more hours than usual. • "Too long... I feel like I've been hit by a bus." She complained weakly - but not seriously, because there was a special satisfaction that went along with an extended sleep like hers. Scooting closer to him, a hand pushed slowly up his chest and then slipped back down so that the tips of her fingers could tuck into the elastic of his boxers, a small smile softening her features. She assured him and shifted a little to pull the sheet off of herself so that she could tug it over him before settled back down, head tipping back a little so she could gaze up at him. • "Marry you?" Her tone was soft but incredulous - she had spent most of her life like all these other kids: abandoned because no one wanted them around or could handle having them around. It had never occurred to her that someone would ever want her all to himself. Of course, she knew right off the bat it wasn't really like that - he was a caring friend who had vowed to help her through this however he could. "Are you serious? Would that actually work?" • She spent a moment thinking it over - weighing her options - and came to the conclusion that there was really nothing to consider. She couldn't live like this anymore, and she didn't want to get sent away - especially because at her age with her history and issues, she was afraid that they would slap a label on her forehead and she would spend the rest of her life in and out of institutions and halfway houses, probably end up on the street as a full-fledged drug-addicted prostitute for a few years until she overdosed or caught a disease. He had always believed that people entered into marriage to easily, that it was a serious commitment not to be taken lightly.
