The United Kingdom has been a world leader in the promotion of eco-friendly fashions for many years. But it always benefits a subject when celebrities promote a cause. Recently, the eco-friendly fashion industry got a new promoter when the new Miss Earth Wales was crowned.
The new Miss Earth Wales is Jamie-Lee Williams. She is an avid proponent of people "going green". In other words, she believes in doing everything possible to preserve the environment and this extends to fashion.

Miss Williams won the Wales leg of the Miss Earth UK pageant by proving she is truly interested in the environment and not just the beauty aspect of the contest. Called stunning, she has a psychology degree and teaches autistic children at a London school. She has no problem mixing beauty and environmental concerns. As Miss Williams was quoted as saying, “You can mix glamour and beauty with looking after the environment and I want to be a role model for that – it shouldn’t be a boring subject.”

Miss Williams proved she understands the complexity of preserving the earth's resources by touching on a number of topics. She is as comfortable discussing recycling of household waste, natural make-up use, and food and shopping choices. But she has a passion for eliminating the trend of fast fashion or throwaway clothes.

All kinds of clothes are made as fast fashion ranging from t-shirts to high couture. As she points out, fast fashion prices are often kept low through the use of cheap overseas labor. True fast fashion is worn once or twice and then discarded. As she points out, “I have a real issue with buying something, wearing it once, then throwing it away. MISTER USA TO ATTEND PUERTO RICO HIGH FASHION WEEK

Visit will be featured in a documentary for Current TV

BOSTON, September 17 - Ivan Rusilko, the newly crowned Mister USA from Pennsylvania, will visit Puerto Rico from September 21st until September 30th, according to Rafa Delfin, the director of Critical Beauty which owns and produces Mister USA .

"The highlight of Ivan's visit will be his participation in the Puerto Rico High Fashion Week which starts on September 25th. Ivan will be an exclusive model for renowned fashion designer Luis Antonio. He will also be featured in an editorial for Sears and will promote Mister USA at Sears's Fierce Booth," says Delfin.

During his stay in Puerto Rico, Rusilko will receive grooming services provided by Davidonne and Divas Salon (hairstyling), Nails & Feet World (manicure and pedicure), Body Bronze Tanning Salon (tanning), and a therapeutic massage by certified professional masseuse, Aureliz Cabrera. He will also receive accessories from designer Reynaldo José as part of his prize package for winning Mister USA. And of course, there will be plenty of opportunity to do some sightseeing.

"I am looking forward to visiting Puerto Rico. I have heard so many great things about the country and its warm people. And I can't wait to dance the salsa and visit the Yunque rainforest!" exclaims the 24-year-old professional model and former bodybuilder.

Rusilko's trip to Puerto Rico will be part of a documentary by Current TV on Rusilko's preparations leading to his participation in Mister International. Rusilko will be bringing a video camera with him wherever he goes. "His trip to Puerto Rico will surely be one of the most memorable experiences of his reign as Mister USA. The Enchanted Isle has so many talented people that could help Ivan in raising his chances in winning the coveted Mister International title," says Delfin.

Delfin has delegated pageant coach Héctor Joaquín Colón González, Critical Beauty's Puerto Rican affiliate, to be Rusilko's official manager during his nine-day stay in the island.
