It seems that Miss Inter-limp-inental Opps! I mean Intercontinental 2008 has ended up being hosted in Poland this year according to a press release issued by WBO!
There was some very ambitious talk about it being hosted in Thailand, Venezuela or even the US Virgin Islands but they all came to nothing, so Miss Intercontinental 2008 will sadly limp back into Europe and be held once more in some obscure location.

Miss Intercontinental has really fallen on hard times, and has to resort to stupendous gigantic intergalactic sized sashes to identify its 45 delegates last year, but I fear event those will not save it this time, its days are clearly numbered.

Maybe it should change its name to Miss InterIsland and stick to small islands?

I just visited www.beautyinpageants.blogspot.com and learned about the participation of three beauty queens at the Amazing Race Asia. They are Natalie Glebova, Pailin and Tisha Silang.

She conquered the universe. She conquered the earth. She conquered the Philippines. But only one of them emerged victoriously.

That was years ago. This time, they have the same mission and that is to conquer Asia through the Amazing Race. And one of them will emerge victorious once more. Who is she?

Three former beauty queens are taking part in a show called the Amazing Race Asia. From the the stage, they are taking their battlefields to the real world as they try to race around the world especially Asia to win - this time, not a pageant crown - a hundred thousand US dollars.

From pageant beauties, they are now Amazing beauties.

Former 2005 Miss Universe Natalie Glebova of Canada is representing Thailand on the third installment of the popular Amazing Race. She is racing with her friend, also a beauty queen, Pailin Rungratanasunthorn who represented Thailand at the Miss Earth 2006 in Manila, Philippines.

Glebova is married to a Thai popular tennis player, Paradorn. This marriage made her eligible to represent Thailand, the country where she won her title as Miss Universe.

On the other hand, Tisha Silang is representing the Philippines together with her boyfriend of 8-years younger, Geoff Rodriguez. Tisha won the right to represent Philippines to the 1998 Miss Universe pageant in Hawaii, USA. But she was forced to give up her title because of a citizenship issue. Tisha is also a Canadian citizen of Filipino parents. She's having dual citizenships.

Only Glebova won her respective pageant being the Miss Universe 2005. Pailin was unplaced at the Miss Earth 2006 while Tisha Silang did not go to the Miss Universe pageant.

Now, the question is who will become winner out of the three? Will Glebova repeat her success with Pailin or will Tisha take this oppurtunity to prove herself.

Watch the show at AXN-Asia starting 11 September 2008 at 9 pm HKT every Thurdays.

As per the spoilers posted at www.entermyworld.heavenforum.com and RFF, Tisha seems to be part of the final 4 while Natalie and Pailin were unnoticed. From EnterMyWorld, Tisha was seen in Singapore Airport booking a flight to Cochin, India. A blogger saw them and he was able to sneak a photo of them. You can check the pictures at the Spoilers Corner of the site.

The three beauties will also be first seen on the show by 04 September 2008 when AXN airs a one-hour special titled Racers Revelead.

Sun is so pretty here, I love her dress…. but I am very surprised with the winner. Not my choice at all. Actually I have nothing to do with the selecton and the event. I just saw the results on internet like anybody else. Just my opinion for those who asked me. And no, I will not train Miss Korea this year but,,,,,,,,,,,,,, MISS INDIA instead! Not confirmed 100% but most likely as I would love to work with the winner if she is great.

There is a difference between attempting to be optimistic and being blind. Sun had potential but she failed to make it to the top 15, mainly in my opinion due to the monstrosity of an evening gown that she thought her short 5'7'' stature could pull off. This is by far the worste Miss Korea I have ever seen, and an embrassment to represent korean beauty. SCRAPPED : A contest to choose the next "Miss Nepal" slated for Thursday was cancelled after Maoist female lawmakers denounced the beauty pageant. The former rebels emerged as the single largest party in the country's newly elected assembly and are poised to form the next government. "We won't let the event take place. We don't need such a thing in the new federal democratic republic of Nepal where women are treated as objects of entertainment," Maoist lawmaker Amrita Thapa told AFP Wednesday. She said the Maoists would not allow an "anti-women" event inspired by "capitalist" elements.

"Such contests send the wrong message to society as they emphasise physical beauty rather than intellectual ability," said another female Maoist leader. Girendra Man Rajbanshi, the contest organiser, said: "We had to cancel our programme at the last minute." He said they would try to change the activists' minds and stage the contest later. The winner of the pageant gets the chance to represent Nepal at the annual Miss World contest, the organizer said. (AFP, 8/6/2008)

BACHOK: Sixteen trans-vestites participating in the "Miss Universe Asia 2008" beauty pageant at a resort here were detained by Kelantan Religious Department (Jaheaik) enforcement officers on Friday night.

All of them, from the state, were dressed in baju kebaya and evening gowns when detained at 9pm.

Jaheaik chief assistant director (enforcement) Mohd Abdul Aziz Mohd Noor said they were tipped off about the public who were curious by the presence of a big group of transvestites at the resort.

He said a team of 50 enforcement officers from Pasir Putih, Bachok and Kota Baru raided the resort and found about 300 people present at the pageant, including spectators.

"Another group of 50 transvestites were getting ready for the contest, but many of them managed to evade arrest.

"Sixteen people, aged between 20 to 30, were detained and taken to our office in Kota Baru for their statements to be recorded."

Most of transvestites who took part in the pageant were professionals, teachers and bank staff.

"Action will be taken against them under Section 7 of the Kelantan Syariah Offences 1985 for dressing and acting as women.

"They can be fined up to RM1,000 or six months jail, or both," he said.

Mohd Abdul Aziz said the division would apply for a remand order before charging them in the Syariah Court.
