Isn't Political wording Great!!!! this will take place on a few areas at this time...
Tosohatchee WMA -- add coyote as legal to take and allow take of one antlered and one antlerless deer per permit, per person, per hunt.
One buck, one Doe per person, per hunt, per permit = Once you have taken your harvest with one permit that is all you may hunt in that WMA for that hunt, this means if you take your limit in the Special quota then you can not hunt on that WMA for the remainder of the special portion of the hunt, doesn't matter if you have five permits for that hunt, hogs are all you may hunt with those four permits, but if you hold a regular, then you can hunt at that time!
At this time, if you have five permits, you could legally take five bucks and five Does, pretty much made this your personal lease!
Toso is but one of these WMAs implimenting this, I believe theres a few more, I spoke to both Scott Berish of the FWC rule making devision and to Scott Spaulding of Toso DEP, this is what I was told has been happening and this new rule will eliminate this Private lease type situation!
My personal opinion is "they all should be this way" there are several well established WMAs that many hunters are shut out of each year due to this type of situation going on, Toso has a very good documenting system, hunters sign in and out, the other WMAs that are Quota only WMAs should and need to Start this same system. The Future of Hunting Summit last month brought a lot of good ideas to the FWC table, we can only hope they are implimented!
