2 very different pageants, I think. My preference is with the up and coming glam pageant, AB, cause it's taking off like fire. Beautiful photos, lots of competition, seemingly warm atmosphere. They went to Disney last year & stayed at a resort in Orlando. Saw it streaming, queens get cash, girls get stoned shirts, the works. I think this one is the next big deal. (NT) -- imho, 03/18/15 Wed The "resort" was disgusting. Check it out on TripAdvisor and we had to pay $35 for the stoned shorts we were supposed to wear to an outing at downtown Disney. Instead we put them on for rehearsal. Paid $100 for ad in program book and had to buy a program book. Very disappointing experience. (NT) -- Disappointed, 06/29/15 Mon What "resort" was it?? Tell the director to give you a full refund. If she refuses, sue. No refunds is only applicable if a pageant is held. Any director who tries to claim no refunds without holding a pageants is wrong. (NT) -- Must refund, 05/07/15 Thu This has happened to me more than once. I have had to eat it. I"ve threatened legally, posted official complaints & protests, even contacted people in the business, well, I never got a dime back. One lady still owes me a full entry fee. I have written her, put it out there on Facebook & she is not bothered by it. So, I hate to say you are screwed, but lesson learned. My friends have told me never to pay until the last day. Do you mean they start community service because of the pageant ? or what? a lot of people start volunteering because of pageants though so I think that's ok too. It is nauseating when you won't do this UNLESS you are competing in a pageant. Subject: When is it appropriate to post a crown photo of yourself when you're a former titleholder? I see some ladies doing this and always felt it takes away from the reigning queen, but on the otherhand, it helps to promote the system.

On her private Facebook page, whenever she wants. On a public Facebook page, when she clearly identifies the photo with the year. Sometimes the directors don't even include them in the program or ask them to help prepare for the year ahead. So, we can't take that away from them. MAO is still reasonable at around $20 each and USA has always been high but Great production but what's u with other systems wanting $50-$75 for VIP seating which is just one row closer and what happened to visiting queens getting discounts? Just a few years ago it was standard to pay $5 or $10 less (if at all) to go in your banner, now it's about $50 to see any pageant. That's ludicrous! I cancelled plans to go t two already because $100 can buy a decent cocktail dress on Pageant Resale, in some cases an interview dress or swimsuit! What started this ridiculous trend? Would you pay $50-70 just to WATCH if it isn't your kid or friend competing? Seems they're only hurting their own sales

Agree. Even my own poor husband has to pay, after he forked out the whole entry fee. Then I have to suck it up and tell him to get in the door it's another $50? come on, Directors, give us a break. Please, no whining about how much it costs to produce. Build it into the entry fee or something. Along with these ridiculous "mandatory" ads for hundreds of dollars, you aren't fooling anyone and you're killing off contestants one by one. (NT) -- good post, 03/09/15 Mon As a former Director, I paid $6-8k for a quality production, so it does cost a lot. Why does it matter if built into the entry fee? Then you would complain about the high entry fee. It's the SAME thing.AD page is for your sponsors and family acknowledgement, so use it as a business woman and make money on selling ADs to pay for entry fee. That's what I did when I competed. Then don't post there. I think that the mod has better things to do than to change your post, and WHY? Do you think that maybe you hit the wrong letters on the key board or you wrote it to see if the moderator would actually post it. Don't mind a moderated board at all, as it helps to keep the crazies in check. And if it really bothered you that much, why didn't you write the mod and ask her to send you the IP address or to delete it as this was not what you wrote instead of posting this on another board. All the time! Just about every state pageant I've done as a Mrs was a one day, dusk to dawn event. Can I just say if you go to say United States nationals you will be up at 6am daily makeup ready for 7am events. We had interviews at midnight , that was actually 3am MY time back home! You will run into a LOT worse demands should you win (NT) -- Comes with the territory, 01/11/15 Sun agree 100%. I was up at 4 for h&m at US & a swimsuit shoot. My interview was literally at 11:30 pm. I usually hit the bed at 9 for work - I was fried big time. It's part of the game. I hate it, too, but with 50 odd girls, judges flying in for 2 days, that's part of the deal. I find it so distasteful. I"m sorry. Work for it. Sell stuff. put away money. But don't guilt people into sending you cash. It's downright embarrassing. How are judges chosen? Do you make sure there is no connection or relationship to those competing? Have run into this before -- Seeing favoritism or black-balling is unfair. Warry of new pageants, 12/09/14 Tue We are not a new pageant. I directed a pageant for 7 years and have run this one for 4 years. All judges are required to indicate that they do not know any contestants before they are allowed to judge. Last year one indicated she knew a contestant and we pulled her from judging that division. It is IMPERATIVE to me that judges no know one. It is my opinion that people pay for a fair chance to win the title, and everything else is bells and whistles. You have questioned the very thing that I am adamant about. My daughter competed for over 25 years and I know what it's like. -- Director, 12/09/14 Tue My apologies if I offended you. Hunsting for deer is legal in many states and necessary to reduce the deer population in certain areas, as they become over run with them and create massive automobile accidents, etc. Guns are legal for hunting and hunting is legal in numerous states, so please tell me why this is offensive? She's actually "fighting" to end cancer. I'm talking literally fighting. I've known her for a while and watched her compete and she's actually getting into a boxing ring to fight for other people to live. I came across this from a post from one of my friends. She's held a bunch of titles and I'm just so inspired.... how many other "queens" would put thier own health at risk to help others?

Thanks so much to whoever posted this. I've been training so hard gave up my whole summer & now the fight is just around the corner! :) I've never done anything like this before and I'm ready to literally knock out cancer! Thanks to everyone who has donated. I'm getting in the ring on October 2nd with 19 other amazing women who are all on the same mission.. to kick cancer the curb. Subject: I am competing in 1 of the big 3. My wardrobe is stellar for the week & competition, I am a visible queen with appearances & charity work, my ad page is paid for as is my hotel room but I cannot afford to pay $1000 or more for hair and makeup. I've chosen to invest my money in other aspects of the pageant and competition. I would love to have my hair and makeup done professionally but I can't justify the money on that. I'm pretty good at doing my hair and makeup for events and competitions. I feel good about doing it myself. My question is, Is it possible to make top, place or even win?

Start practicing now and you'll hold your own with everyone else--YOU know what your flaws really are and can learn how best to address them. While it's not against the rule to hold multiple titles, it looks tacky to me and affects the integrity of each system she is representing. What do you think?

depends on the level of pageant it is. I do think it's tacky to switch around and display 2 titles at once, but in theory, if it were 2 low tier pageants, and the director says she doesn't care about a no compete, it could be done tastefully. -- the small pageants don't care, 04/28/14 Mon A state title in one system and a national title in another.
