Subject: What can you do when you pay for a pageant, and the director cancels it? How do you recoup the fees. She refuses to reimburse me. Ladies out there, attorneys?

was there a clause in the paperwork saying you would be reimbursed if canceled? or, no refunds - no exceptions? Let us know this pageant and director so we can stay away. I actually would never even consider competing in the pageant unless that was stated in the paperwork somewhere. There is never any guarantee that the pageant will actually take place so I'm not risking it! Yes, Mary should be able to trust those who work with her, but she needs to take a very close look at some or one of them. Not good for business. Any of the vendors mentioned will use a contestant as a scape goat if the vendor's work is lacking. So many mistakes and goof ups, which are blamed on the contestant. The pageant is a write off for them. They are fabulously wealthy, but not from the pageant. I'm not sure who this is in reference too, but I know when I compete, I create a FB page just for my title. My personal FB page is just for my close family & friends and I don't like to share everything about my daily life with the pageant community. Sure they might be familiar in the pageant community but I don't really know them. I can see where restricting access to things is necessary. The eye rolling and sighs insued....only later when walking into interview did I learn that 2 of my judges were on my elevator and I'm certain it must have looked like parenting gone wild. I placed in the pageant but boy did I feel not so smart for not remembering that judges could be anywhere. LOL

The fact that there was a haute fashion category was fun. It may be technically a "Beauty Pageant" but I think there are some moms who are short or stocky and still in good health but don't want to wear a swimsuit. I'm an older mom, in very good shape and I would enter this for the "mom" aspect and the fun the women seem to have at the pageant, but not the swimsuit part. And the swimsuit competition is very liberal. We can wear one or two piece suits and a wrap that we can keep on if we want to. I don't have a problem with that. I wear less when I'm at the beach. And I'm excited it's going to be in Branson! I've always wanted to go there. Of course, hiring makeup and hair stylists is optional. You can get an awesome used wardrobe that rivals anything new. While I don't like to make things about race, why do you think it's taken Mrs. America so long to crown an African American woman?
