Ready to Fall, Part II
By now, you've all heard the news about our Keith and while all of us wish him well in his recovery, some of us may need a little help on this as well.
Our dear Feathers is off for a family function this weekend, but I have spoken to the Chief and have been duly authorized to make the following offer --
All of us here love Keith, and we’re all pulling for him to beat back his demons and put them back in their cage. But whereas some cites are insisting on the Pollyanna approach, we here at the KLUB realize that what some of us are feeling right now isn’t all “sunshine and roses.” Even those who love Keith may be feeling hurt or angry or sacred for him and his family right now. If you're one of these people and you need a place to talk it out, you can post it here.
One word of caution, bashers are not welcome! If you’ve only come here to rag on him or to gloat, your posts will be cheerfully deleted and your IP address noted.
We all need each other right now, so let’s reach out to those who need a soft place to fall.
Thanks,
Mo

Our Man -- ~JackieR, 06:14:58 10/23/06 Mon [1]
When I heard the news, I was in a state of denile. I could not BELIEVE what I had heard and what I was reading. This has been a one heck of a year for our man. EOTY, couple male vocalists awards, a Grammy and marrying the woman of his dreams. I was deeply saddened by the news when it seems he had the world by the nuggets. It seems that he was enjoying his fame and fortune a little too much and it got out of control. I'm proud of him for getting the help he needs to get his life back under control again. This too shall pass and he will be better than ever. Keith, Good onya mate! We all have our demons and there are some of us that need to look at you for inspiration and determination. Love ya Bibby.~JackieR aka 1iluvcountry

Hopeful but a little bit hurt -- Ginny, 13:53:04 10/23/06 Mon [1]
HI- I'm a new poster here, but a HUGE fan of Keith and his music, a Monkeyville member, and a frequent reader of this board. The events of the past few days have shaken me up a little bit and since you so kindly offered a soft place to fall, I thought I would take advantage of it.
I've always honored Keith's privacy and tried very hard not to second-guess what is going on in his personal life. However, I can't help but wonder if his extremely strong need for privacy isn't in part caused by his fear of having someone find out about his problem. Clearly he didn't just backslide last week. In order to turn yourself in for help, it seems to me that the problem must have been present for some time. No? And I know it takes a lot of courage to do what he did and I love him for it. But last week I was listening to a recent interview from England with Nicole and she quoted Keith as saying: "We have everything to protect and nothing to hide." Two days after I listened to that interview I found out about his return to rehab. I guess you can always say that he isn't hiding, or he wouldn't have turned himself in. But it feels like the timing is a bit shakey. I'm not saying I wouldn't give him all the chances in the world to fix his problems, but as a loyal fan it hurts a little bit to find out that you've been dutifully believing in him and his statements about how wonderful and happy his life is now, how fortunate he is, and then boom!
Anyway, Here's to a healthier, happier Keith. I'll still be here, waiting and hoping that he has the Better Life (demon-free) he deserves.

Whose to blame? -- bird, 17:53:47 10/23/06 Mon [1]
I'm not blaming anyone exclusively but anyone that's been around an addict has got to know that stressful periods, even happy stressful periods, can cause a setback. Between the paparazzi(sp)following him and them around everywhere, all the hoopla over the engagement and the wedding, "statements" from ex-girlfriends, internet videos of him scarfing down cheeseburgers, newly released nudie pictures(which I quite enjoyed I must guiltily say at this moment) and on and on...it's no wonder that he had a setback.
I truly wish the whole Urban clan the best as they all struggle through the next several months of recovery and then life after recovery. I can't help but wonder what the future holds for Keith, both professionally and personally...

Whose to blame -- Catfishjenkins, 19:32:40 10/23/06 Mon [1]
He will always have a problem or struggle with the problem. He is in a business where its all around him. I think if anything is to blame it would be the lifestyle. As you said Bird...with all the hoopla around him it's no wonder he failed himself. I am just glad he is getting help once again.

You know . . . -- Mo, 02:24:31 10/24/06 Tue [1]
As I look back on the last little while in the life and career of our favorite Aussie, I can't help but notice how jam-packed it's been. Like you said, bird, "times of stress." If it's all closing in on you, sometimes to pick the wrong way out.
We wonder so much and know so little, but, Ginny, until I know otherwise, I'm holding out for the "ounce of prevention" theory of rehab. I hope his relapse has been brief, and he just saw the hard work of eight years slipping away from him and knew he had to do something. I hope.
