Subject: I'm going to do this before I talk myself out of it

Hi girls. I've talked to Feathers a couple of times on another board. I have a story (first one I've ever written) and I'm going to post the first section of it. If you want to read more, I'll put it up for you a section at a time. I've been reading here for a short time and have enjoyed it all.

[> I'm open to suggestions for a title :) -- Sunny, 16:59:07 03/17/06 Fri [1]

We'd been friends for years - thirteen in fact. He was like family - almost. He was without a doubt my best friend, and I his. We knew that. We could communicate without saying a word. He knew me better than anyone alive - except my twin sister - and I knew him equally well. There was nothing I couldn't tell him – well, almost nothing, but we'll discuss that later.

Not only was he my best friend, but he was THE most beautiful person I had ever seen. That was one of the first things I ever told him, actually. He and some friends had come to have dinner at the restaurant where I worked and were seated in my section. I remember being struck silent by his eyes. Never in my life had I seen such blue eyes. Upon finding my voice I told him exactly that. He returned with, "Well thank you, baby; and hi to you as well." I was too stunned by his eyes at the time to notice his accent (or the fact that I hadn't bothered with a "hello" or introducing myself). You don't hear an Australian accent in Nashville every day, but I couldn't get past his eyes long enough to pay attention to that. No one can rival Keith's eyes.

That was thirteen years ago - he still teases me.
I guess I could have told you earlier, his name is Keith - Keith Urban. Heard of him? That doesn't surprise me. Many hail him as one of the greatest guitarists to ever live - but don't tell him that, he won't listen. He truly does what he does because he loves it. All the praise in the world won't change that - or him.

People on the outside say we look like a couple. Maybe we do. I've certainly lost a couple of guys over him; he's lost a gal or two because of me. Men and women can just be friends - we've done it the last 13 years. Even people who know us say we're "gonna get hitched" someday. We know that won't happen. We're friends - close friends - right?

So have you noticed that the "we can just be friends" bit doesn't have me completely convinced anymore? Yeah. If I had you convinced you're gullible. I don't know how he feels, but I know that the more time I spend with him the harder I fall. It's like the apocalypse has come into fruition. I'm in love with my best friend. And yeah, this would be that thing that I can't tell him. Damn it.

[> [> [> WELCOME Sunny! Aw,Tex, I'm not THAT bad am I?? I may wag my finger under your nose and give you "the glare", but no slapping! LOL And Mo, who is even less severe than I am, will only throw popcorn at you from behind her Barcalounger. But yes, overuse of the 4-letter words is unnecessary among us intelligent women who can come up with more clever epithets. -- Feathers (your *friendly* neighborhood moderator), 19:42:13 03/17/06 Fri [1]

That's the ONLY 4-letter word in the whole story, I promise. *makes an innocent face*

There was a story posted last week that had what I considered a gratuitous usage of a certain word. It fit in the story in a few places, due to the tone/mood, but I suggested backing off on it in the future. That's what Tex was referring to probably.

Your story is a wonderful start! Technically as well as emotionally. I was very caught-up in your narrative and and curious to know more.

I'll want to know more of what's going on before I suggest a title, tho. Keep up the good work!

Did you ever notice that all us writers always leave it hanging in the worst (or best) spots (whichever you prefer)? Alright well this is definately one of those times, common I gotta know more. Im ready for round two.
O yeah Welcome to the board. Guess I got caught up in the story. LOL.

The only 4 letter word I don't allow is "diet" hehe ... Since I didn't see that word in the story, I couldn't see ANY 4 letter word! *snickering*

I'm looking forward to more, Sunny!
