The first quote is from "Star Wars". I think Luke said it first, but every character said it at least once! LOL

The second quote is from Rhett to Scarlett in GWTW.

This is a continuation from the first challange. As you may remember at last count I was standing in Keith's foyers, very intoxicated and not sure I wanted to be there.

[> [> new rugs -- kennedypratt, 00:23:29 03/25/06 Sat [1]

I stood in the foyer, my eyes adjusting to the dim light. I thought to myself, "I've got a bad feeling about this." I took in a deep breath through my nose, no scent of perfume. Perhaps she hadn’t been here as often as she was rumored to be. She was like the great white whale to me, well, a very thin white whale. I imagined what I would say to her, what I would do if I came face to face with her. But she eluded me, with the help of her companion I suspected. No perfume scent at all, his house still had that woodsy, cologne, man smell that all bachelor pads exuded. He hung up his coat behind me; the slamming of the closet door brought me back from my Melville fantasy. I turned in a drunken half circle and met his gaze. Kind of stern, kind of tired, he looked back at me, thinking hard. Not caring to much for his thoughts at this point; I attempted to walk toward the den and his oh so comfortable couch. I could see it out in front of me, calling my name, begging me to lie down and sleep the most comfortable sleep. I managed two awkward steps before a muscular forearm blocked by way.
“That’s a new rug in there.” He said sharply.

I pushed passed him. “I was headed for the guest bathroom actually”.

“Oh.” He said kind of apologetically and then chaperoned me to the bathroom door.

In the bathroom I turned on the water in the sink, leaning against the wall I contemplated my next move. I knew he was out there waiting for me. I knew I didn’t want to go upstairs, I knew I didn’t want him to know how much I’d missed him.

After an appropriate amount of time I turned the water off and walked out. He was waiting for me just outside the door. “Are you alright?” He asked.

“No, I’m very drunk and I’m in your house. I’m pretty far from alright.” I said.

I managed a few more steps to my old comforting friend, the couch. I sat down and then leaned my upper body over the arm of the couch, studying the rug. He said nothing, watching me with his arms crossed. He had taken off his boots; I glanced at his naked feet from the corner of my eye.

“So, what was wrong with the old rug?” I asked desperate to break the silence and his penetrating stare.

“Nothing, Nic just thought….” He clenched his jaw and looked away.

“I see” I lay back on the couch further, not wanting the see the rug anymore.

He fidgeted uncomfortable for a few seconds, putting his hand in his pocket, looking at the clock, looking towards the stairs and then finally back at me.

He strode toward me and lifted one of my feet. I was not entirely sure how my shoes had gotten back on my feet but they were. He lifted them off one at a time and set them on the floor; he lifted my legs in one scoop under my ankles and placed them on the couch. . I didn’t object since I was about to sleep halfway sitting, halfway lying down with my shoes on. He sat down beside me on the couch. I looked at his face, trying to read his intentions. He reached for my belt but I pushed his hands away.
He stood up abruptly, “Fine, have your belt buckle imprinted into you stomach in the morning. It will be like a new tattoo for you.”

He turned and walked out of the den, up the stairs and a few seconds later I heard his bedroom door slam. I sighed and took my belt off myself. Placing it in a pile next to my shoes. Normally I would have taken my jeans off too but it was unusually cold in his house. I pulled a blanket from the back of the couch and covered myself.

I waited a good hour, expecting him to come down and retrieve me, but he didn’t. I heard nothing from upstairs, not even the TV. I eyed the intercom on the wall and considered buzzing him awake. I was still freezing, with the blanket wrapped around me I stumbled toward the wall and attempted to adjust the thermostat. I was lacking a degree in computer science and was unable to make the temperature any tolerable with the complex, digital thermostat. I sighed and looked toward the tall staircase.

I took careful steps, trying not to fall, and finally made it to the top of the stairs. I padded quietly to the end of the hall. I turned the door handle a few degrees at a time, trying not to make any noise, and opened the door. Creeping across the floor toward the sleeping heap on the bed; I thought I was safe. A voice broke my sense of security.
“I was wondering how long it would take you to come up here.” He didn’t turn to look at me but I knew he had a smug smile on his face.

“What’s the matter baby, to cold for you down there?” He asked

I put my shoulders back, “Actually Keith, I came up here to apologize for puking on your new rug.” I replied.

He sat straight up and glared at me, “WHAT?”

I laughed, “Just kidding, I couldn’t work that effin thermostat, jerk.”

“Effin? Is that your new word? Better than f#%k I guess. Maybe if you weren’t so effin drunk you could. And how am I a jerk?” He asked.

“Well, lets see, you broke my heart for one thing, you brought me here tonight, and I know you turned down the thermostat to freeze me out of the living room, do you need more evidence of your jerkiness?” I replied.

He laughed. Lying against one elbow he looked me up and down. He wasn’t wearing a shirt and had on a pair of gym shorts. The blankets had been kicked to the bottom of the bed and he barely had the sheet covering him. It had to be eighty degrees in his room; I let the blanket fall to the floor.

“You got your belt off I see. I can’t be too much of a jerk if you came all the way up here to get into bed with me.” He smiled.

“Don’t be flattered Keith, I’m choosing you over hypothermia.” I replied, thinking hypothermia might be better than this humiliation.

He pulled the sheet back and rubbed the empty space on the bed next to him. “So what’s it going to be baby, hypothermia or me?” He looked at me with those diamond eyes. His hair falling off to one side.

“Actually neither since the guest room is just as warm.” I turned and walked down the hall to a room I had never slept in.
I pulled back the covers and climbed in, pulling the blankets up to my ears. It was warm and the bed was so comfortable, I quickly started to drift off. But sleep evaded me once again when I heard the bedsprings in the next room squeak and footsteps in the hallway.

He stood in the doorway. “Can I talk to you now?” He asked in a soft voice.

“Have we come that far baby that you need permission to talk to me?” I replied.

“Sadly yes, since you won’t sleep in the same bed with me.” He said walking towards me.

I kept my back towards him. He pulled the covers back and climbed in beside, covering us both back up. He started to put his arm around me but paused and withdrew his arm.

He sighed and crossed his arms over his chest, laying his head back on the pillow. “This makes me really sad.”

“What makes you sadder Keith? That I won’t sleep with you or that I won’t talk to you?” I asked.

“Both actually. I miss talking to you, I miss kissing your face, and I miss….other things too.” His voice trailed off.

“Yeah, I am a good kisser, I’ll give you that.” I replied. "You need to be kissed. And often. And by someone who knows how." I said in a deep voice.

He laughed softly, “What movie is that from?”

“Gone with the Wind” I answered.

“Ah, that’s right. We watched that together one time didn’t we?” He asked.

“Well, we watched the first ten minutes of it, then we started in on ‘other things’” I replied.

He rolled over towards me, his body pressed against my back, his arm around me. He peered over at my shoulder, stroking my cheek in the dark. “Those were good times.”

“Yeah, but that was then.” I said.

“Now you hate me.” He stated.

“Yeah Keith, I lay in bed with people I hate all the time.”

“You seem like you can’t stand the sight of me.”

“No, I can’t stand the thought of you with her.”

He traced the outline of my ear and fingered a few strands of hair that were creeping down my neck. “You know you’re my girl, even if were apart, you’re still mine.”

I rolled over and faced him. “You could have fooled me.” I raised my eyebrows.

He raised his in response. He started to say something in his defense but stopped before the words left his mouth. “I’m sorry you felt that way. But it’s not like you’ve been waiting by the phone for me.”

“And how would you know, you hardly ever call.”

“I keep tabs on you. You don’t know how many people I know who see you all the time, out and about.” He replied.

“Well, at least you don’t have to see pictures of me “out and about” everyday.”

He rubbed two fingers across my chin, then down across my neck. “I seem to remember a few pictures of us once upon a time.”

“And that didn’t seem to change anything in your life.” I replied.

He tried to change the subject. “Remember when we went to Vegas, that was so much fun.”

“As much as I enjoy this trip down memory lane, I don’t see where it is going.” I replied.

“No, you never could.” He answered with a sigh.

[> [> I like that you're playing hard to get. I think you should make him beg...get down on his knees and beg like a dog, like a hungry dog and then tell him no. But that's just a thought. You could just give in to his musings and let him have one last time for old time's sake. You could "accidently" leave your underwear where the tall woman would find it just to add a little stress to his life...Yeah, have sex with him but leave the underwear. Me? Play hard to get? I don't know what you mean. That guest room bed looked so inviting, and we all know that Keith is a blanket stealer. It just made sense for me to sleep down the hall. After all, I am trying to behave myself a little more. If Keith can put on the good boy act, maybe I can be a good girl (or at least appear so).

[> [> [> [> Okay, so no underwear. I figured as much...lol Well, there must be something that you could leave to mark your trail: a lipgloss(no, too valuable), a bra(no, you probably don't wear that either), a hair accessory, a strategically placed note with your name and number(I've been waiting for that confrontation piece)...there's got to be something! -- birdinflight, 09:12:57 03/27/06 Mon [1]

Bird, I've been thinking about this too. I don't want to leave my bra, I like them far to much and I wouldn't want to give someone a black eye on my way home. I have short hair so I don't use any hair accessory. I could leave a lip gloss, a friend sells Mary Kay, but that could be anyones. I was thinking perhaps a pair of jeans though, how about that? I could spill some coffee on mine and have to borrow a pair of track pants from Keith. I could accidently leave them in heap on the floor of his bedroom closet. I highly doubt NK wears Levi, I hight doubt NK wears a 6 petite bootcut.

[> [> [> [> [> [> You're definitely on to something here, kennedy! The jeans might be just the ticket that you're looking for to cause a little commotion that would either make Keith fly right or get your size 6 petite arse kicked...lol Just kidding, you could take her! -- birdinflight, 16:46:08 03/27/06 Mon [1]

I can run fast, plus she is probably very weak from never eating. Now, if I could just get some other type of tell tale "stain" on the pants.......heheheheh. Sounds like something for the next chapter. Hey Feathers, for the next challange could we use the key words: kitchen counter, harder and miss me?

[> Blue Eyes -- Rodeo, 23:39:51 03/31/06 Fri [1]

My finger nails had undergone severe punishment in the past two hours. Everything was a blur and I was getting confused, not to mention nervous as hell. A strong hand gently grabbed my wrist and pulled my hand away from my mouth.

“Stop it, your fingers will hurt to much to play.”

I looked up into bright blue eyes and smiled. Those eyes had a calming effect on me. Adam pulled me in tight to his chest.

“Your gonna be alright, I promise.”

“Yeah that’s easy for you to say, you done this a million times.” I said, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”

He looked at me.

“Look at who your opening for, would you rather it be any other way?” “You’ve idolized this guy for as long as I’ve known you.” He said smiling, “And that’s a long time”

He was right. There was no other way I’d rather be starting my career as a country singer. Heck I was opening for Keith Urban. I had been a fan of his since I was, well I couldn’t remember it had been so long. It felt unreal, like I was living a dream, and in a sense I was.

“I’m gonna go get my seat” he said.

“No, don’t leave me yet,” I whined.

“You’ll be fine, I promise.”

He left, leaving me completely alone.

I glanced around and noticed none other than Keith Urban coming towards me.

“You ready baby,” he asked.

“Define ready,” I said sarcastically.

He chuckled, “Well I’m gonna take that as a yes then”

He smiled and left me also.

The tour bus was a blast after the concert. Everyone was so hyped up. Adam couldn’t come to the party because he had to work. I smiled watching the guys doing crazy and somewhat dangerous things. I loved these guys they were as good as a second family to me.

After a few hours of some rowdy partying, the guys headed off to bed and left Keith and I alone to clean up.

We quickly gave up being as the mess was to massive. We grabbed two acoustics and headed outside. We sat on the wet grass with our backs leaned against the bus. We ended up playing a bunch of riffs for hours straight.

“Sarah,” he started, “What is it about him?”

“About who?” I asked.

“Adam”

“What do you mean?” I asked still confused.

“What is it that you like about him,” he said quietly.

“There are lots of things,” I said now getting a bit uncomfortable.

“Like what?”

“ I don’t know Keith,”

“If you don’t know then why are you with him,? He doesn’t deserve you,”

“Oh yeah, and what makes you say this?” I asked a bit defensively.

“By the way he kisses you, It’s just not right, I can tell you guys aren’t meant for each other,” “You need to be kissed. And often. And by someone who knows how!"

I looked into those deep blue eyes and sighed, he was speaking what had been on my mind for the past few weeks, he was right, but for now all I could do was stare into those seductive clear blue eyes.
