Subject: CMA Fan Club Party Venting Thread -

I'm not sure if I ought to do this, BUT, there seems to be general stiffling of discussion on various other boards about this topic. Now that initial furor has died down, I will allow you post your thoughts, concerns, frustrations, disappointments, ideas, etc, but I will keep an eye on things and NOT allow any bashing of anyone. That includes insinuations about who's to blame or stuff like that.

I want us to be able to have intelligent conversations here, and I think we can do it because we have a great group of posters. I also want us to encourage each other if we're down/disappointed about things.

Personally, I'm disappointed for those who were hoping to attend, but if Keith wants to take time off for a few months, then he's entitled to it, IMO. I can't say I'm impressed with the way the fans have been communicated with - pretty abyssmal - or the decisions his marketing people (everyone from his personal spokesman to Capitol Records to the FC president) are making, but he has to deal with them himself.

What about y'all?

I think there is more to this story than is being revealed at this time. Perhaps Keith has something up his sleeve. Someone pointed out that since Kenny is doing a stadium show around the same time, he can't perform at Fan Fair either according to promoter rules that prohibit an act from performing in the same area for a few months. Maybe Keith will join him for a few shows? It would be nice to see those two together again.

I think of it this way, if he isn't doing the FC party then he has more time for recording his new album. Maybe there might still be a chance it'll be released in 2006. Hes done one every two years right? And isn't he the one that said it would be out in '06? Just hoping over here.

Many hearts,

Sarah

I'm glad he's taking the time off for himself even though he's STILL doing appearances and concerts through July, eh? So it's not a total break and I really, REALLY think he needs one! I'm glad he's finally taking time for a personal life even if it's in the public eye and I think the next CD is going to reflect a stronger keith because of the time off.

I'm sorry folks are disappointed and I don't want to belittle that, but it's never been promised or guaranteed HE would attend the annual fan club party. I read it to be an annual event where fans gather ... It doesn't take away the disappointment, but it should alleviate any blaming that's been going on.

[> Bad timing -- 1birdinflight, 21:10:47 04/03/06 Mon [1]

My first thought about hearing that there would be no FC party was, "Thank God I didn't plan to go!" Hubby and I had originally contemplated going to Nashville for the party and the festival but we never followed through with the preparations. Doesn't it seem that his fans would have been privy to the fact that there wasn't going to be a party earlier than just a couple of months prior to the anticipated event? Don't you bet that this information could have been released before right now? And, although I guess with popularity many artists do stop having fan club parties, it just seems kinda poor timing to start changing any of his old habits. I'm sure that his people had to know that people would point fingers and associate this seemingly sudden change of plans with his new focus on his personal life. Some fans would feel hurt, some fans would get angry...It's really kinda hard to accept that Keith's growing up now...lol

Sometimes a star who is huge, has to pull away from those things. For instance, Kenny used to do these all the time, and meet and greets, but demand got too high and things would get outta control. It's a shame that a few unruly fans ruin it for everyone but hey it happens. Maybe Keith feels it is time to slow down a little. I hope this doesn't relfect how his fans feel about him, he is still an amazing man and performer, but he needs a break, his vouce has been strained and he is tired. I would rather see him rested then end up like Chris Cagle did. I don't know what hie people released, or how they did it, so I can't comment on that.
