It took everything in me to swallow my mouthful of cappuccino. I finally choked it down and made a panicked noise of disbelief. What’s wrong, he asked. Nothing, I stammered. You . . . I mean . . . My drink was just hotter than I thought. He laughed, probably because my face had turned about a million shades of red in a matter of seconds. Sure it was, he said matter of factly. I could feel my temper rising, he knew me too well already. I quickly regained my composure determined not to look like a complete idiot in front of this handsome gentleman. I raised my cup to take another sip but thought better of it. I held out my hand, Sarah, I said introducing myself. But instead of giving it a quick shake he lifted it to his lips and placed a warm kiss on the back of it. I raised my eyebrows in surprise, my flirting had never gotten that result before. Keith, he said a he released my hand. Hmmm, I was in the mood for a good game. I squinted my eyes as if I was examining him. You look familiar, do I know you from somewhere? I asked with a grim on my face. A sly smile appeared on his face, he knew what I was doing. No, he said, with that familiar sparkle in his eye, if we had met I would have surly remembered such a beauty as yourself. I couldn’t help but giggle, Lord this guy was good. Still playing I replied, No I have definitely seen you before. O . . . that’s right. Every time I open a magazine, there you are. O and every time I turn on the radio, there’s your voice. And on CMT, Lord don’t even get me started. We both had a good laugh at this.

I glanced out the window to see if my dog was doing alright. He was sitting in the drivers side watching us. Cute dog, Keith commented. Yeah, he just looks that way but he’s really a spastic demon. He laughed, I find that hard to believe, he said.

So what are you doing in Nashville, he asked.

Chasing dreams, I replied wearily .

Do you have a house?

I nodded my head, yeah, I just need to move in, I told him.

I looked down at my drink and sighed, I didn’t have a chance with him, what was I thinking.

He seemed to notice my sudden change of mood, he slid out of the booth and stood up. C’mon, I wanna meet your dog. I smiled, he was so, I dunno, I couldn’t explain it, O well I’d find a word for it later. I quickly drank the rest of my cappuccino and stood up.

We walked out to the truck and I unlocked the door, Keith opened it and scratched tag playfully on the head. The little dog lapped up all the attention he could get. Well at least Tag liked him, but then again Tag liked everybody.

Do you need help? His voice jerked my from my daydreaming. Moving in? Do you need any help?

Not unless you wanna help hang up cloths, I said sarcastically.

It’s a deal then, he said smiling. What, I said suddenly. It’s a deal he repeated. I’ll follow you to your house and help you get settled in. And with that he walked over to his car and got in. He sat behind the wheel staring at me waiting for me to get in my truck and pull away from the curb. I stood there shaking my head and smiling, who was this guy? I got in behind the wheel. Alright, I know who he was, but who was he really? I shifted gears and drove off in the direction of my new life.
