Be fortunate that you can afford to or even consider purchasing a home in your hometown. Alot of us could never reach the financial pinnacle to be able to go "home again" to places like Chelmsford and Andover, as those places got super gentrified. Count me in among those who consider Dracut their "adopted" hometown.

I guess it depends upon what is important to you when selecting a place to live. Are you a parent? Are schools important? Are you single? Is local night life important? Are you interested in living in a racially and ethnically diversified place? (I don't think Dracut fits that profile.)

I've only lived here since 1986, but I've seen Dracut hit some pretty low spots, but it seems that most of that has been turned around. I would certainly hope we would never see our library closed due to lack of money or the High School face decertification or a town official accused of theft. But it's not the fact that that those things happened, but the RESPONSE and what was done to correct them and make sure they never happen again.

The only thing that I don't think Dracut has adequately addressed are some of the issues around the Building Inspector's office (what ever became of the FBI investigation? Why was that so hushhush?) and the emerging storm over the Sewer Dept and this grinder pump thing on Forest Park Rd. I guess that means there is more work to do.
