If anyone should knock Dracut it should be me so I am going to give you my feelings. We are having a problem with the Sewer Dept and Selectmen in the town of Dracut. We have investigated lots of streets in Dracut and can't find out why Forest Park Road was chosen to have Grinder pumps instead of the Gravity pump as promised to the people for years and years. There are many many streets that are connected to the sewer that are much much lower than Forest Park. I am totally ashamed of our town offiicals in the way they have ridiculed the residents of Forest Park Road. They have made fun of the situation on the Warren Shaw Saturday morning show and on others on the Round Table show. They have all been unproffesional in their manner.
We will continue to fight the town and do what we have to. They are wrong in doing what they have done but that doesn't mean that the town of Dracut is all bad. I just think we need to get rid of the people in office. We need a person who in fact will serve the people not serve thyself.
I lived in Dracut since I was in the 7th grade. I loved the schools and I am proud to say they have an excellent school system. I am a graduate of 1970 and my son a graduate of 1995. When I was 16 I worked at Beaver Brook a discount store and met so many wonderful town people. When I was 17 I joined the USO and my parents would let me have the soldiers home for the holidays. There were times when I had 5-6. They would take the bus from Fort Devens and I would pick them up at the Lowell Train station. I would drive them around Dracut and we would stop at Grondines Gas station and buy apples from his fruit stand. Every soldier would tell me How much they loved Dracut and how beautiful it was. They would tell me it was like " The Andy Giffith show" a warm town where everyone got along. You know Sherrif Taylor and Opie and Aunt Bee.
I don't know what happened to Dracut. I think the Selectmen forget that they ran for office to serve the people. They feel that if someone has an issue and they don't want to deal with it then they make lite of the issue and litterally laugh at them.
Would I buy a house in Dracut. Again Dracut has alot to offer. The excellent school system so if you have children this is one of the greatest plus's. Everyone runs to the rural towns of NH and says "Ahh this is a great life" Dracut was once that rural town. I would like to keep part of that and not see Dracut built up like Chelmsford.
Make sure you buy a house that is already connected to sewer.
