Please call or email me in confidence. I would like to hear about your interchanges with the Town Manager and the Building Inspector. There is no excuse for rudeness, arrogance, etc., even if there is a disagreement. It would be most helpful if you gave a dispassioned account of what was said. ("Just the fact's ma'am.")

Now having said that, I continue to be amazed that people will buy homes without understanding the allowed uses of the land their property abuts. This fire station was no deep dark secret. It has been planned for several years -- and it was approved democratically (and overwhelmingly) by the Town Meeting. So you can't pin the whole thing on us "creepy" elected officials. ;-)

Overall, for the good of the community, we occasionally have to build things. (Ssome might say we build things too occasionally here is Dracut!) This fire station is a very necessary part of providing public safety and life-saving assistance to people. As a Town, we have a right to build on property owned by the Town.

On the other hand *how* we build is a different matter. I would like to hear more detail about how *your* property rights are being violated.

[I'll be traveling out of the country from August 20th to August 30th -- so if you don't hear from me during that period, you'll understand.]
